Guys love movies. Especially sports movies, where every underdog has his day, every team achieves glory, and every hero gets his moment of redemption. Next to watching Monday Night Football, there’s nothing more enjoyable than plopping down on the couch with the remote and a bottle of beer and firing up the special-edition DVD of Rocky, Hoosiers, Caddyshack, or any other fan favorite.
Now, two nationally renowned sports media personalities take on the task of ranking the top 100 sports movies of all time, including entertaining and informative lists, special features, and contributions from over 75 top sports figures. From drama to comedy to tragedy to documentary, all the greatest sports films are here, brought to life through detailed summaries, fun facts and trivia, behind-the-scenes revelations, plus images from the greatest moments in sports film history.
Original comments from some of the top personalities in sports and entertainment—including Peyton and Eli Manning, Charles Barkley, Tony Romo, James Gandolfini, Bill Parcells, Dennis Quaid, Arnold Palmer, and many more—provide further insight and marketing punch.

Title: Given as a gift to a sports and movie fan
Review: It was a good gift for someone who likes both movies and sports events. My older brother, who was an athlete from an early age and always liked different kinds of films, liked it. I took a look at the various films it discusses and remember seeing quite a number of them myself. He remembers watching many of them, but also has some ideas for films he'd like to see based on the recommendations and chapters in the book.

Title: THE ULTIMATE BOOK OF SPORTS MOVIES
Review: I AM TAKEN AWAY BY A GOOD SPORTS MOVIE. AFTER READING THIS BOOK, I WAS TAKEN AWAY WITH THE BOOK. THE AUTHORS, RAY DIDINGER AND GLEN MACNOW PUT THESE MOVIES IN THERE PROPER PRESPECTIVE WITH A GREAT ANALYSIS OF EACH MOVIE. THE SIDE COMMENT FROM WELL KNOWN ACTORS AND SPORTSTARS PROVE TO BE WELL WORTH YOUR TIME.

Title: Two great writers / 100 sports movies.
Review: I loved the consistent format of each movie's summary. Both Ray (who recently retired from sports reporting) and Glenn are former beat reporters for Philadelphia newspapers....and really talented writers. It makes you want to revisit (or view for the first time) many of the movies that made the list. Highly recommend this book!

Title: Sorta enjoyable
Review: But, the author has too many off-the-cuff nonsensical cheers and jeers. The movies are not about him.

Review: Few sports movies are true classics. Most follow a similar formula: down at heal team/player suffers setback, overcomes adversity, but somehow pulls through in the end. But like many, I have a soft spot for them, even though most focus on sports played on the other side of the pond. The comment on the back cover says it all; they "tug on all the different emotions that make us feel alive. We step into the athletic shoes of the heroes and feel their doubt, dedication, despair, and triumph ... we hang on every plot twist, groan with every setback and cheer with unbridled joy when victory is achieved."All my favourites are here, so that's a good thing, although as with all books of this nature they're often a little too far down the running order for your liking. But that's OK, everyone has their own opinion. At least the authors provide their own justification and offer a great insight into each and every entry. The extras, short feature lists and articles with well known actors and sports stars, are also interesting and occasionally enlightening.Well worth the asking price.

Review: But it is just a list of 100 movies - and it outdates quickly. Good information about the movies included, though.
