Title: Hadn't thought about this...
Review: Our home microwave works fine with the prepackaged microwave corn but not with a loose-kernel microwave popper--the yield was perhaps 75%, leaving many un-popped kernels. (Yes, the popcorn was fresh.) Old-fashioned 'oil in pot on stovetop' popping is easy enough, but I really didn't want the oil, even canola. So I decided to try an air popper, and chose this Hamilton Beach model. Price and brand name were primary considerations, although I checked the reviews as well. This machine is well-made and works very well. The manual is clear, concise, and accurate. Three machine parts, total. Operation is simple enough for a child, but do NOT let a child use it without supervision--the parts get hot enough for some serious burns to occur. And yes, it is amusing to watch the kernels pop.But there are a couple of little details a buyer may want to consider...My first batch was 'by the book'--filled the included measure cup with conventional major-brand popcorn and in a couple of minutes, viola! A LARGE bowl of perfectly-popped corn. Skipped butter & salt re dietary restrictions, and yep, it was great. However, the next day I wanted a *small* amount. I also wanted to try a different variety of corn that I'd had for a while. The kernels are tiny compared to the regular corn.Didn't think this through in advance. The popping process uses a decently-powerful, vertically-oriented fan (think 'heat gun') constantly churning the kernels upward while they absorb the heat necessary to pop. With a smaller kernel size and fewer total kernels, I wound up with a lot of tiny, really hot kernels flying out the chute. My large bowl caught most of them; the rest became organic ball bearings on the floor until I broke out the vacuum. And the yield was (optimistically) perhaps 20%.Obviously, the weight of a 'full load' of kernels (of regular size) is necessary for satisfactory operation. Which means when you use this machine, you're going to get (from the owners manual) 'up to 18 cups (4.3L) of popped corn.' In other words--*no small batches.*So you'll always have *plenty* to share with your friends... or the birds. 🙂

Title: Great machine no more burnt popcorn
Review: Well saw this online at target an Amazon same price but could get it faster through amazon. Normally I always get microwave popcorn from store an I always feel a bit blah after having a bag or sometimes I could only do a half a bag. I never could understand why I could eat more at theaters than the microwave kind well guess them cooking in oil is even better than the microwave kind. But wow this is amazing no heavy blah feeling if I use this machine, to make my popcorn it turns out so amazing an lite. I did realize that the kernels tend to pop out if I do like half the cup. But now I just do the full scoop an no kernels flying out and its great no burnt peices that is probably one of my favorite things about this is perfectly popped kernels. And honestly anything under 20.00 to make healthier treats that I love is always worth it Specailly since I don't get stomach aches anymore after having a giant and I mean giant bowl. lol I was gonna take a star off for the cup on top not actually melting the butter but I kinda assumed it wasn't going to melt it completely but tried it any ways an it partially melted that was about a tablespoon that I sliced up into thin layers.

Title: Small problem vs the Redenbacher of seeds spraying...
Review: This popper is somewhat easier to use and makes slightly more popcorn than the Redenbacher version. the only downside vs the other is that the plastic funnel is a bit too short and needed to be curved more. As a result, it is more prone to let seeds escape in the air flow, and because the angle isn't tight enough, the seeds will go scattering over and past whatever bowl you are using to catch the popcorn when it comes off. This is especially noticeable when you get down to the last few kernels that need popping.Other than that, this was a perfectly serviceable and adequate hot air popper, easy to use and extremely simple to clean if you don't use the metal seed-pan to melt some butter.

Title: This is my favorite way to make popcorn
Review: A few months ago I suddenly found I didn't like the taste of microwave popcorn anymore: I found it left a greasy, waxy residue on the roof of my mouth I found unpleasant.I tried a few different alternate methods: using a brown paper bag in the microwave, using a silicone extendible bowl in the microwave, and finally an actual popcorn machine (like a miniaturized theater model). All of these came up short in some way - the silicone bowl tended to burn them, the popcorn from the machine was hard, etc.I finally tried one of these, which I didn't think were even still made anymore: I remember my mom had one when I was a kid. Turns out, this thing makes pretty terrific popcorn. It's quite loud, but it works great. By design it's pretty impossible to burn popcorn since the popped kernels are ejected by the airstream it emits.Cleaning is a breeze, just turn it upside down and blow out the dust. It's not without its downsides. As I said, it's quite loud, and you do need to keep an eye on it to make sure the popped popcorn isn't jamming up in the chute. Using butter and a little bit of salt isn't as convenient as the microwave, but it's probably a lot better for you.On the whole, though, this makes really good popcorn in a few minutes. It's my go-to for now.

Review: We've had this for more than 6 months and it's been great! Whether we use name brand or store brand kernels it works well.We use it multiple times a week and the popcorn is always awesome. If you overfill more than recommended, you might have a burning smell and extra kernels in your bowl, so just follow the recommendation. Sometimes more kernels left than others but love that the popcorn is always light, fluffy and tasty. Hoping it keeps it up for a long time!
