Title: Seems to work perfectly
Review: I'm very happy with this purifier. As was mentioned in other comments, I question the purifier's blue light which would indicate excellent quality air. Upon startup, after a minute of operation, the light always reverts to blue. I don't think the air quality had been horrible previously, but I'm not running the purifier because I thought that the air was of excellent quality to begin with.OdorsSince we don't have smoke in our home or any visible contaminants, odor is really the only result that I can judge for myself. I do not trust the light in this machine that stays on blue constantly. I was not expecting much of a difference in odor after researching purifiers. I had read that charcoal filters don't help much because in many purifiers the air is not in contact with it long enough to make a difference. It took a couple of days, but the difference in odor is amazing. There was initially a very distinct odor in the air. I can't detect any odor any more. While I have no way of proving that other contaminants in the air have been removed, I really have no reason to question it either.IonizationThis is just an extra feature of the unit that I will never use. There is question about how well this technology works and whether it causes more problems than it fixes. I cannot say how well this feature works. The best part about the ionizer is that when the purifier starts, the ionizer does not automatically start and I never have to use it.FiltersThey're a bit more expensive than some of the other models than I had looked at, but they are a higher level of HEPA that will filter the air better. Given the difference in quality, as long as I'm paying for filters to clean the air, I'll take the better ones. Filters are also very easy to install.Air quality indicatorApart from having to buy an ionization system that I didn't want, this is my only other problem with this machine. While running, it ALWAYS shows excellent air quality. There are only 3 levels of contamination indicated so even if I knew the light was working properly, it's only a broad indication about how bad the air might be. Judging by the only criteria available to me, odor, the purifier has made a big difference in our indoor air quality so I'm just ignoring the light. All in all, I'm very happy with this. While I don't trust the air quality indicator and I'd prefer not to have to buy the ionizer, these issues are not sufficient for me to lower the rating from 5 stars. It filters smaller particles than other purifiers on Amazon, the price is not significantly more for this capacity of purifier, and I am so much happier breathing the odor-free air that this purifier produces. I don't have reason to buy this purifier again (life-time warranty if I sign up within 30 days on their website and continue to change the filters as required by the warranty), but I am considering buying other purifiers from the same manufacturer for other, smaller, rooms of our house.

Title: Handles dog dander well
Review: I developed allergies to our dog while working from home during the pandemic. Go figure as I've been tested twice for allergies and never registered allergies to dogs, just cats. Getting rid of our pup was *not* an option. I'm already on daily allergy medication; so I decided to get an air purifier. I researched many models and features and settled on this Medify model for several reasons: 1) highly rated; 2) multi-layer filter that can handle pollen, dust, and germs in addition to dander; 3) its CFM rating because we needed a purifier powerful to handle the square footage of our old home's high ceilings and open plan; 4) 3 settings plus a bedtime setting that turns off the unit's lights; 5) reviews that stated it's lowest setting wasn't overly loud; 6) ionizer that we can turn off when we're home since ionizers can produce harmful ozone indoors; and 7) has a timer, although we haven't used it yet.So far, this air purifier is meeting our needs very well. We run it almost constantly. I'm no longer sneezing and tearing up when our dog is in the house, and my allergy symptoms are under control again. I run it on the low setting when we're home and turn it to the high setting (because it's loud on that setting) when we're going out. It took a little while to adjust to the white noise the purifier makes at its low setting. The filter collects a lot of dust, and did a good job removing odor from the house when I burned something in the kitchen. Hoping it lasts for the long haul.

Title: A defined difference in the air quality
Review: I bought this Medify MA-40 2.0 Medical Grade Filtration H13, True HEPA Air purifier during the 2020 Corona Virus pandemic. We have 2 large dogs, a kid who is back from college early due to the pandemic and my wife is a nurse at a local hospital. But it was not only those items that pushed me in this direction. I always change the furnace filter regularly. The first floor of the house has carpeting in only one room. The second floor is mostly carpeted except for the master bedroom which has an area rug that extends out a little beyond the bed. It was when I was in the hallway one morning and our sons bedroom door was open, and so were the curtains. The sun was shining in. As I looked towards that window, in the suns rays, I was astonished to see all the airborne particles/dust/or whatever. It just did not spell healthy air inside my home as far as I was concerned. I can tell you that at that point, for me, that Corona Virus Pandemic or not, I didn't like what I was seeing at all and I was going to do something about it. I kept thinking how it seems like every winter, that winter cough seems to stick around, once it starts, for the rest of the heating season. So I started looking on line. I saw several different manufacturers and models on line. There were lower cost models and there were higher cost models as well. for myself, I determined this was the one that I wanted to try. So I cannot tell you whether this model is just right, overkill or insufficient but I can tell you this. I first started it up and ran it on the first floor after I opened the package when I came home from work. Within a couple hours, I felt that I could tell a difference. I asked my wife what she thought. She was a little on the fence about it but felt a little something different. That night, when we went to bed, I took it upstairs and ran it in the hallway (leaving all of the bedroom doors open. The next morning, I left it in the upstairs hall when I left for work. When I got home, and headed up the stairs, there was a defined point at which the air quality was so noticeably different. Again I asked my wife if she noticed the difference. This time, there was no hesitation. She agreed that it was definitely better air quality upstairs. So you may be thinking is this guy going to order a second one so that he has one on both floors. I would like to, but I am going to save for it. I might even try one of the lower cost ($99) models I had seen just to see if spending that extra money is worth it.Sound - So I do not operate it at the highest fan level, in part, due to the sound. The level that I have it is the lowest level you can have and have the ionizer on the system working at the same time. So the whisper mode, I cannot comment on because I don't use it. I could see it still being a little loud for some people though. My wife commented that she had woken up during that first night and she thought the sound was the water running.Recommendation: At this point, I can say that this thing really has made a difference, I feel difference breathing, already coughing less, and I am not compromised in any way so I have no reason not to recommend it. If I end up buying a lower cost unit and it works as well, I will try to update.Maintenance - Filter replacement cost does look pretty high (I think I saw $69 for the filter). It will be interesting to see how often I find that it needs to be replaced. Unless the lower cost model does an equally good job I will bite the bullet and replace the filtersI hope this helps if you are considering buying one! Good luck on your decision

Review: I have a dyson heater and it's neat. I was thinking about getting another one specifically for air purification because we moved into an apartment that has asbestos walls. But given how expensive they are and how little air flows through, I searched for alternatives and found this one here. It's family owned, that's a nice plus. But what's more is that the air-flow even on low setting far outperforms any dyson product on max settings, while generating relatively little noise. On high settings, this thing is a beast, probably delivering the airflow of 10 dyson purifiers, but also really noisy. But the best part is the air ionizer. It makes your air smell like forest air. Pretty much as if you'd just opened the window. Overall, having this running just for 10 minutes after unpacking on low settings makes a huge difference in our apartment. We are sold. This thing is awesome and we got it in black, looks stylish. Not quite as fancy as dyson, but you are getting A LOT more bang for your buck and replacement filters are also 70$, instead of 300$... That was actually one of the main reasons to buy this in the first place. We needed to replace the dyson HEPA filter if we'd gonna have clean air, but those 300 bucks were better spent on getting this device and just leaving the dyson as a heater, which it does very well.
