Title: Keeps Produce Fresher Longer
Review: Fulfilling the need to eat more fruits and veggies ain't easy when you're old - my husband and I just can't eat them fast enough to keep them from going bad. Going to the supermarket or a farmers' market at least once a week certainly would help, but frankly, my dear, that's not gonna happen (did I mention I hate grocery shopping)? So for us, it's typically feast or famine; what we don't eat within a few days of bringing it home gets pitched.So, I've been trying alternate methods of keeping produce fresher longer; those reusable plastic bags do make a noticeable difference, and now, I must say these cloth bags seem to be helping as well. My biggest complaint is that they're not see-throughable; it's rather annoying to open up a bag and find a green pepper when you really wanted carrots. That said, they're worth the minuscule extra time that takes; the washable recycled cotton seems to keep things crisper and fresh for longer periods. The online instructions do say that dampening them helps even more, but I admit I haven't tried that as yet. Of course, the washability means less money spent on plastic bags and paper towels, so there's that. This set includes one small bag (a green bell pepper on the large side fits, but not much else) and one that's larger. Foldover flaps keep light and air out. Definitely worth a try.

Review: I'm popping in to share a little nugget of kitchen wisdom with my fellow veggie lovers! I recently decided to give these Vegetable Crisper Bags a try - they're made from organic cotton and came in a set of two (one large and one small). You guys, my refrigerator is forever changed!Here's the deal: I love my greens and all, but it's so frustrating when I buy veggies, and they go all limp and sad within a few days. I needed a solution because, honestly, who has time to shop for fresh vegetables every other day?When I saw these crisper bags on Amazon, I figured, why not? They're organic, which had me feeling good about less plastic, and if they could save even one head of lettuce, well, that's a win.I followed the instructions, dampened them before popping in my veggies, and slid them into the fridge. Fast forward a week, and I brace myself for the usual wilted mess... but surprise! My veggies were crisp, fresh, and vibrant. The leafy greens were perky, the carrots still had their crunch, and don't even get me started on the bell peppers; they were as firm and glossy as day one.The bags themselves are pretty sturdy, and I love that they're machine washable. Easy to use and low maintenance? Yes, please. Plus, the two sizes are super handy for different quantities.Honestly, it feels great not tossing out veggies (and money) each week. Title: MEEMA Vegetable Crisper Bags
Review: Since fresh vegetables are usually stored in a plastic bag at the grocery store then for ages I have removed fresh celery and carrots from the plastic bags and wrapped with paper towels. Once wrapped, the veggies are placed back into the plastic bag then stored in the crisper drawer. The paper towel absorbs any perspiration from the veggies. How then would these recycled cotton bags work for those two items?Time will tell but so far so good. I removed the carrots from the plastic bag and placed them directly in the freshly laundered smaller bag. Then I did the same for the celery, placing it in the larger bag. The instructions state to dampen the bag but I am trying it first without doing that since IMO the whole point is to wick moisture off veggies instead of adding any on. So far the produce is holding up handling it that way so next grocery shopping day I will try a few of each in a dampened bag and see how that compares.Doubtless there is a reason for dampening the bag but perhaps for me either will work since I eat fresh vegetables up fairly quickly. Based on my own experience handling fresh produce over time, I would not put soft vegetables like lettuce in these bags. If already washed, lettuce and any relatives such as fresh spinach or arugula gets eaten quickly anyway. However, if using a full head, then I wash and place the leaves between paper towels and waxed paper and dump the entire pile in a plastic bag. I will try placing the pile in the larger dry bag as a trial since the lettuce will already be damp to see how the works out.Final word then is that this company is environmentally conscious and this product is a result of that care. As a consumer who also cares, I will happily use these bags to store firm veggies like carrots or celery. Next I will try a few apples in one to see if that works. If so, then I definitely will purchase more of these bags as one of my least favorite items to use around food is plastic. Plus using these will save trees at my house due to leaving off the paper towels. Our oceans will thank us too for saying no thanks to plastics whenever possible. A big thumbs up to MEEMA for offering these recycled washable cotton bags.
