Title: A GREAT homage to football history!!
Review: This is an excellent book that highlights some of the most epic moments in football history. The author pays homage to many iconic players and moments, and describes them with such vivid detail that even the youngest minds will be captivated! I loved reading about the “Ice Bowl” and how the author summarizes the impact that was left on those who witnessed it: “It was a test of human endurance and strength of will that is rarely, if ever, seen in the world of sport, and a game that is etched into football folklore as one of the most iconic and dramatic moments in NFL history.” (Excerpt from book). Title: History of football for all ages.
Review: What a good read! Perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about football. When I purchased this book I did so with the intent of gifting it to my 11 year old nephew. We ended up reading it together and bonded over our new found knowledge of football. The introduction starts with my favorite quote from the author Ben Byde “Winning in football isn't just about scoring touchdowns, it's about the journey, the struggles, and the triumph of the human spirit on and off the field.” Chapter three was my favorite chapter. Titled the last helmetless player- exploring the past when players did not wear protective gear. Each chapter is written in a way the reader can visualize being there in that time era watching the game. I also love the chapter illustrations as they are black and white and are fitting to each chapter. This 14 chapter book of stories is really more of a history of football. Written to keep the reader's attention and inspire young football enthusiasts. The author finishes his book with a few chapters on more of the history of football. The first huddle and a chapter about the first football game ever- so cool. The author leaves the reader inspired in his conclusion with another great quote “Keep cheering, keep dreaming, and most importantly, keep being the extraordinary, unique YOU.” Both me and my nephew loved this read. We now have a new found trivia on football and bonded over reading this together! I recommend this read for anyone interested in football.
