Review: So much I did not know about most American Presidents. I find it hard to believe the author fit so much information 700 plus pages.

Title: Timeline Placement Creates Confusion
Review: This is a great overview of U.S. presidential history. It is formatted like a textbook which threw me off. My only complaint is that there is a historical timeline at the bottom each page detailing world and U.S. events that occurred during each presidency, which isn’t bad except that it is oddly placed in that the timeline doesn’t correspond with the timing of the main text, which creates two separately- timed narratives on the each page/section which is confusing to the reader. For example, the main text in the first chapter on George Washington begins with his birth in 1732, but the timeline on the bottom of the same page begins with his presidency all the way in 1789. This pattern repeats throughout the book so the timeline never corresponds with the main text. The result is that the events in the main text on each page is decades before the events on the timeline on the bottom of the same page throughout the book, which is confusing for the reader- you have two narratives (actually three because the timeline shows separately US and world events) to follow on each page and one is far (decades) before the other. This could be fixed with re-formatting. Otherwise informative and a good reference.

Title: Good but too tiny!
Review: The print size is very tiny. I am an elderly person with a decent eyesight for my age, but I can barely see the print. Must return the book!

Title: This is a sugar coated version of history
Review: There are a few presidents that have really done some horrible things in history. Trump, Wilson, Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson to name a few. For example a Slow response and attempt to pretend COVID was a hoax by Trump was probably cost a couple hundred thousand American lives, Wilson segregated the white house and armed services after it had been integrated for 30 years, leading to more racism and lynchings. And Jefferson forced at least one of females slaves to have sex with him (raped), he owned over 300 slaves, and upon his death he only freed about 6 of them, probably his illigitament slave wife and their offspring. However, if you primarily want to know some of the good thing these presidents did, this is a good book.Despite its sugar coated version of history, it does have some good information. The reader simply needs to keep in mind, much of the bad parts of history are left out, and sometimes the presidents are given credit for things that happened during their administration—even though they actually did all they could to prevent or delay progress: i.e. Trump delayed and inhibited the treatment and prevention of COViD — he did NOT help it unless his arm was twisted by his advisors or public opinion. Remember when he suggested Americans drink liquid cleaning solution, or take a dose of a pet de-wormer ( Invernetin), or superheat a persons blood to treat COVID infection. All absolutely 100% wrong and very dangerous.Written by a Nurse Practitioner
