Title: Highly recommended practical book
Review: A financial advisor recently recommended a specific annuity product for me. Although I was very interested, I really felt at a loss to understand the product and make such an important decision. I looked for information about annuities online and by talking to other people, but couldn't find helpful information. Either I couldn't understand it, or I suspected the opinions were biased. This book gave me all the information I was looking for to evaluate this annuity and make decisions. The book is simple and short, but covers everything that is important to understand. I highly recommend it for anyone who really wants to understand what they are buying but isn't an expert on financial products. I appreciated the step by step approach and the discussion about why it can be difficult to get clear, unbiased information about annuities.

Title: Could have been a 5
Review: I rated the book a 4 instead of 5 because the website that the author referenced to go to for the sample analysis spreadsheet is nothing but a splash page with a "coming soon!" banner on it. Not very professional to PUBLISH a book that references a website that hasn't yet been built.That being said, the information was very helpful and presented in a very understandable way. I guess I will just have to use all of the good information to develop my own analysis spreadsheet!UPDATE: just tried to find the spreadsheet again and now the link returns a notice that the website has EXPIRED. Such a shame, it was really a helpful book but I don't feel like having to re-create the nonexistent spreadsheet to use the information.

Title: Very informative
Review: This was an easy, straight forward read. The author explains everything in an easy to understand way, especially if you know very little about annuities. I found it helpful to read with the annuities I was thinking about purchasing within arms reach to compare. I read this book and took notes before I had my appointment with an annuities advisor and felt very prepared for the meeting. I highly recommend it.

Title: Useful reference for evaluating annuities
Review: This was a brief, to the point, well written and easy to ride summary of what to look for when evaluating annuities to purchase. The information contained therein will help the reader evaluate the multiple annuities that are pushed by life insurance corporations, brokerages, investment advisors, etc.. By implementing the recommendations one can save money and future headaches.

Title: A good basic annuity explanation guide
Review: Overall, this book has the basic info you want in order to understand annuities. By the nature of annuities, no book will explain everything. That said, I feel like I still need to understand more about them.I actually was licensed to sell them about ten years ago but the company I sold for didn't explain much. They just said go sell them. That's one reason I'm researching them myself (I never did sell any.) Of course I had to understand them to get licensed in Ca. and I did, well enough but the devil is in the details of course.I'll probably be adding to all this by buying more books before I start talking to agents, just so I know what I need and won't be blinded by a sales pitch.So, it's a good book and I recommend it. Just be prepared that you'll want to know more.

Title: Clear, Concise and Informative
Review: This book was very easy to read and provided me with a clear understanding of what an annuity is, the different types, the different features, and things to consider in purchasing one. As a divorce professional it provided me with a much clearer picture of annuities which I can use to help clients make decisions as they are dividing their retirement holdings. It is a very quick and informative read.

Title: Definitely worth the investment
Review: I am very impressed with this book. It lays out a very clear road map, actually more of a flow chart, so one can navigate through the process of deciding exactly what options are possible when choosing an annuity to fit your own situation. I appreciate the frankness and clarity about annuities in general – things I've never understood when discussing them with my own financial advisor. The author's writing style is refreshing with its directness and simplicity, making the book very readable for the ordinary person. Most of all I appreciate being educated about what might be best for me rather than being "sold" what might be most lucrative for the financial advisor. Thanks, Ms. Derniat.
