Title: All You Need to Know to Switch from Xfinity Norton Now That It's Discontinued
Review: Comcast / Xfinity has found another way to say "Happy New Year," this time ending the free perk of Norton 360 with an Xfinity internet subscription. Fortunately, this package, which is currently $25 for ten devices and renews after 12 months for $25, is a great deal and provides even more functionality than the Xfinity product. I read the one star reviews and almost didn't buy this, but then I started reading 4 and 5 star reviews and pieced together how to actually install this if you are already running a version of Norton 360. I'll start with that:1. Log in to your Norton account via a browser. If you have the Xfinity version of 360, you probably forgot that they made you set up a Norton account, but trust me, you do have one, so just click "forgot password" if you cannot remember.2. Go to the "my subscriptions" in the top right and click, and you will see the current computers you have enrolled via Comcast. If you scroll down, you will see "Norton Security Online from Xfinity" and then you click "manage licenses" next to that.3. You then need to delete the license for your product - click he little garbage can under "remove" license and click confirm.4. Now buy the product here on Amazon, and you'll get a welcome email within 5 mins. Here are the instructions in that email:Click the âActivateâ button below.Create a new NortonLifeLock account or log into your existing NortonLifeLock account in order to link your Amazon and NortonLifeLock accounts. After linking your NortonLifeLock account, you will be redirected to the Subscriptions page on Amazon.Click âAccess Product.â5. Basically, you log into your Norton account by entering your email associated with the Norton account on the screen where it says "create new account" or "I already have an account."This is where things went wonky and it said 'There's a problem try again later" which seemed to be a browser login / cookie issue. I just closed Chrome at this point and then logged into Norton account from my other browser, Firefox. You could also just do this in an incognito window in Chrome.6. Now you need to uninstall Norton from your computer, and click "save settings, I am planning to reinstall later" option. It will uninstall and prompt you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.7. From here on out, it's pretty straightforward (famous last words). Open a browser and log into your Norton account online. You go back to "my subscriptions" and now this new Norton should be showing in your list, with 0 out of 10 licenses assigned. You then click on "download product" or something to that effect to install it on your machine. It will automatically activate as part of this process. This product differs from the Xfinity Norton product in that it (a) has a VPN and (b) has 125 GB of Cloud backup and (c) includes dark web / identity theft monitoring. We have several computers and the process was the same for each one. I think people get into trouble if they try to install this version without uninstalling the old version, and if they uninstall the old version BEFORE they deactivate it from the Norton "my account" area.Hope this helps!

Title: Good value
Review: I've been using Norton for years, except for a short break when I found it to be too slow. They corrected that problem some years ago, and I returned to it. However, their renewal prices are too high for faithful customers; so I usually buy a new copy and install it from scratch. I often lose a day or two at the end of the older term, but I like to install it a bit earlier in case I run into problems.

Title: horrible user experience, gets worse every year
Review: Actually, I'm not sure anyone at Amazon or Norton has ever heard the term "user experience", which could explain a lot. It's not clear, for example, why I'm being asked to rate this product on "thickness". It's thick as a brick, but is that one star or five?A couple of notes on subscription and auto-renewal first. You're buying a one-year "subscription" to the product. By default, the subscription will automatically renew. I always turn off automatic renewal, since they used to jack the rate up to the full "retail" price, (120 or so these days). I'm not sure if they still engage in the this borderline fraudulent practice, but I'd rather not find out.According to what I'm seeing, I have 30 days to cancel the subscription for a full refund. We'll see if that becomes necessary. The first problem is that Amazon doesn't give you the product code directly any more. It was always difficult to find the correct page, but the Amazon site would eventually cough up the code you needed to activate the product. Now they want you to cross-link your Amazon account to your Norton account. The cross-linking didn't work as expected. I entered the email and password for my existing Norton account, and got an error message. I then tried the "create new account" link, which allowed me in with my existing email and password. Illogical, as Mr. Spock would say.The second problem is that even if you jump through these hoops, your new subscription doesn't show up in Norton land right away. It seemed to take a couple of hours in my case. Maybe the process involves sending a punch card through the mail, like paying your phone bill in the 1960s.Third problem is that Amazon instructions for how to activate don't describe what actually happens. You get an email with an "activate" button. You're then supposed to link to your Norton account, which then redirects you to your Amazon subscriptions page. Well, none of that happened, but nice try.My subscription eventually showed up in Norton after repeated attempts. It doesn't seem to be in response to anything I did, but of course it's hard to be sure.Fourth problem is that Norton is again hiding the place you need to enter the new code. The Norton client on my PC doesn't seem to offer a place to put in the product code. It seems you have to be logged into norton.com, then pick the "download" link, then it offers to "activate on this PC".Fifth problem is the installer. You download an installer, but apparently the first thing it wants to do is uninstall the old product. It would be nice to say that up front. The installer has evidently uninstalled something, since Windows Defender is now in charge, but it's hung on a screen saying "your Norton settings and passwords are now being saved. The uninstall will being in a few moments....". That screen has been up since I started typing this review. The installer also noted in passing that I had 30 days left on my subscription, and asked why I was leaving. Of course, the Norton client had told me my subscription had expired, and I was no longer protected, and yada, yada, yada, with daily warnings for 10 days.So I'll wrap this up. I'll try a reboot and reinstall, maybe that will clear things up. I've been renewing Norton for years now, but it's really time to stop procrastinating and find a better product.

Title: Good product but a huge increase in price
Review: Paid 34.99 for several years and now suddenly it's $124.99 a year, which is a big jump.I could cancel & switch to get a better version of the software for close to what I was paying (at least for a year), but that's a real pain since I'm managing licenses on five different computers which means 5 uninstalls & 5 new installs and I don't do this stuff for a living - It's just for my wife & myself. I'm not a business and I don't even use all the licenses available. I picked the version I did because it was an Amazon version, and I thought that meant something - like no pricing games.I Guess I was wrong. It's still good software, but the pricing game is tacky, and because of that I either have to switch to a different version or pay more than I should be paying.

Title: I use it on my many Windows and Mac computers
Review: I got the ten license package. I have a large collection of Windows and Mac computers, in my office for home use, in my recording studio for editing and printing, and in my home theater for music and video. One Mac dual boots to Windows. I loaded this latest product on all of them. I've used Norton for years and have confidence and trust in their protection as well as their support and service. Never had any problems in over 20 years of use on many computers and laptops.
Customers say
Customers like the virus protection of the downloadable software. They mention it's the best anti-virus software and an excellent security package. However, some customers have reported issues with the ad-blocking feature. They also dislike the error rate, auto renewal, and download speed. Opinions differ on the value for money, functionality, and ease of installation.
