Title: Amazing!! Great for any skill level
Review: I made a New Year's goal to bake more, specifically get into cakes / decorating. This book was my go to for all of my recipes and I have learned so much of the process just in the past few months! Don't let the cake box part deter you - I've enjoyed baking for a long time and have done doctored cake mixes occasionally but mostly all ingredients from scratch, and let me tell you, her cakes are just as good!! With the combination of buttermilk, sour cream, extra eggs and vanilla (plus baking extracts and emulsions), the flavors are really incredible. I'm including photos of some of my favorite cakes - specifically her s'mores, Oreo, and banana cream pie.As someone who just got into this at the beginning of the year, I really appreciate that in her book she includes step by step how to assemble and decorate with photos. She also has tips for baking and buttercream success. Super helpful! Couldn't recommend this book enough!*Also, one more side note: the awesome thing about her recipes is you can easily turn them into a 9x13 sheet pan (for lazy days where I don't feel like assembling!), two dozen cupcakes, or even a two-layer 8-in (instead of three layer 6-in which is her go to and what I use).

Title: Best cake ever!
Review: For Christmas I got my 8 year old daughter stuff for making and decorating cakes. We've had a lot of fun learning to make cakes together. I've tried several different cake cookbooks and recipes. Most of the cakes we've made have been pretty good, but nothing that overly wowed us. A friend of mine who makes and sells cakes recommended this cookbook and I bought it right away. My daughter picked out a cake for us to make and we tried it out. It was the best cake we've ever made. Great flavor. Perfectly moist and tender. The frosting complimented it well. The tips for decorating the cake were easy enough for my 8 year old to do (with very little help from me). Not only was it the best tasting cake we've made (and probably ever eaten), it was also very impressive to look at.

Title: Lovely 2nd Edition to First Rate Version!
Review: I started my official caking journey June 2020 - Cake Confidence was quite literally my kitchen bestie. It sports stains of buttercream, Crisco, egg, some cake batter and cookie dough from the FABULOUS Funfetti cookies dough recipe.I was so excited to see a hardback 2nd edition which shares gorgeous photo updates and additional recipes! What’s not to love!I had pals ask me: After having used the first edition and reading through the 2nd should we get a copy of the new book?My answer is to get a copy for you and get 4 or 5 more to give to your caking friends, donate to local libraries and schools.Everyone deserves an opportunity to learn and use Cake Confidence. This caking book is so packed with light hearted fun, love and caking knowledge any level of baker will love to use it.Thank you Mandy for sharing your amazing knowledge and your love for caking. Title: Best cookbook!
Review: I always get so many compliments when I cook cakes from this recipe book! They’re doctored cake mix recipes and they’re the best! Mandy has so many wonderful - fun and classic cake flavors. She has great instruction, beautiful photos and amazingly delicious results! Worth every Penny!

Title: Please proof read before publishing
Review: First let me say I am very excited to try her recipes. I love baking from scratch but I see no issue with using boxed mixes as part of your ingredients list. The end product is more important to me than being able to tell everyone I measured my flour myself. Also, her flavors in this book are a refreshing change from the typical recipes out there.That being said, please proof read before you publish! Within 5 minutes of flipping through the book I noted 3 errors. How many more are in here that I haven’t picked up on yet? For example, the description for her rocky road cake says she pairs it with her brownie buttercream frosting. However in the actual recipe it is her plain cocoa buttercream (Ps you can find the brownie version with another recipe). Another example is the white chocolate raspberry cake. The buttercream calls for fresh raspberries puréed but there is no instruction for when to add this into your buttercream. Finally, looking at the dark chocolate salted caramel cake there is no cake mix listed in the ingredients section of the dark chocolate cake. That recipe will fail as is.Also I have the second edition of this book. Not sure why these haven’t been addressed. And like I said, how many other sloppy errors are there?I am exited to try these recipes but right now I am weary too.

Title: Tasted amazing!
Review: Love the recipes in this book. Everyone says the tastes are so incredible! I struggle with making the frosting look professional but I’m sure they will come with practice. Some recipes are a little more involved and take longer to make. Occasionally the instructions are not very clear. Like it’ll say 6 TBSP of melted butter and then 1/4 cup of melted butter in the list. Then in the directions it doesn’t specify which amount of melted butter to use in that particular step (just an example). But overall, I love this book and it gives me ideas of how to make even more flavors of cakes with their general ingredients (like they use buttercream and sour cream in almost every cake recipe).

Review: All the recipes require the use of Duncan Hines cake mix (like the entire range of their mixes). It’s ok if you can get it but it’s not sold in every country. And there is no indication in the amount of cake mix required! I have many baking books, but I have never come across one using ready mixes as part of the recipe!
