This powerful filter contains patented rotating Bio-Wheel technology to provide superior wet/dry biological filtration for nitrifying bacteria growth and eliminating toxic ammonia and nitrate fast. As it rotates, the Bio-Wheel exposes beneficial bacteria to the air, helping bacteria work harder and faster to keep your aquarium ammonia-free. The Bio-Wheel never clogs or needs to be replaced. All Bio-Wheel filters feature noise-reducing, two-piece vented covers and adjustable mid-level intake strainers. Uses Marineland Rite-Size Filter Cartridges with Black Diamond Premium Activated Carbon to filter out dirt and debris for maximum water clarity. Available in five sizes: 75 GPH (for aquariums up to 10 gallons); 100 GPH (for aquariums up to 20 gallons); 150 GPH (for aquariums up to 30 gallons); 200 GPH (for aquariums up to 50 gallons); 350 GPH (for aquariums up to 70 gallons). Clean, sparkling water is the mark of a healthy, thriving aquarium. The amount of filtration needed to maintain an aquarium depends on a number of variables. Title: Works great after some troubleshooting!
Review: So I had some trouble when I first installed my filter, and I figured I would share the steps I went through to fix it in case it helps anyone else.I put everything together just like the diagram but when I plugged it in, all it made was this really loud grinding sound and there was no water flow. I opened the lid and I could see some bubbles but nothing obviously wrong. I pulled stuff apart and checked the propeller and couldnât see anything wrong there either. I had set up everything in order according to the directions and was baffled.I began trouble-shooting. When I called the help hotline (it was outside business hours so I couldnât get a person), something they suggested is taking the propeller out and with the filter plugged in, hold it up against the outside of the filter. If you can feel the magnetic tug, then at least the motor is working. So I pulled mine out and tried this. Propeller and motor were good.Another review mentioned trouble with the flow lever on the intake tube, so I fiddled with this. No change. But it did give me an idea since I had seen bubbles, I figured it could be a different problem with the intake tube. Long story short, the three sections of the tube werenât connected as tightly as they could have been. Tightened, water started flowing through the filter. There was still a bit of noise, but I noticed that my tank was filled below the top connection point on the tube. I added more water to the tank until it was above the line, and presto, no grinding noise! So if you do have problems with flow or noise you might check your intake tube and make sure it is tightly together (REALLY tight) and maybe fill the tank above the top connection. The filter itself seems to be working great. The water flowing back into the tank can be a bit loud, but it isnât nearly as bad as some filters Iâve used previously. I really like how sturdy it is built and that I can insert two filters back to back for more filtration if I like. Also, the cover is super easy to take on and off. The bio wheel sounds neat in theory but it isnât even spinning in mine. Not sure how to fix that or if it really matters. Maybe Iâll fiddle with it later. The fish tank is in the bottom of my Chinese water dragon vivarium, so as you can imagine it can get a bit messy, but the water has stayed clear and clean, so Iâm please enough.Update: So it has been running for about a month with no problems. I got the biowheel to run for a bit, opening the flow more on the intake tube and pushing the wheel back all the way in its housing. The water has stayed pristine even with my lizard so Iâm really happy with it!

Title: The piece that goes in the motor has to be placed right
Review: It works perfectly but took a few days first motor piece kept on making noises so repositioned it several times that worked noise gone then the water wasnât spinning the wheels filter so had to reposition both filters to get a full flow of water that spins the wheel l also needed to keep water to top of tank or you will hear the sound of water splashing in the tank so l had to figure out a few thinks & make several attempts to adjust all the pieces to make it work correctly

Title: Great product
Review: I have a main filter I use the I use this filter to hold my chemical filtration (purigen) and bags of crushed coral. This filter has plenty of media space in it. I love how the pump is in the tank so it primes itself if there is a power outage. Then I also keep pinky floss in it as well. With all of that in the filter the water still flows through and doesnât come out of the overflow. Great price and great product.

Title: Works Great, Biowheel does NOT turn. ~Puchased May 2023
Review: I have kept aquariums since I was knee high to a duck and I KNOW Marineland has a Great reputation for having excellent products. I knew I couldn't go wrong with a HOB filter, especially being a Marineland!Puchased the Marineland Penguin 200 Power Filter, 200GPH May 2023 it has worked well on establishing a new aquarium, Up and Running on a 40 Extra high, Planted Aquarium (substrate: Soil,Sand, Gravel): The Filter comes with little plastic lids for the top of the filter covers the Intake/Filter area and the biowheel area. I did have to tape the biowheel cover to the filter due to minimal rattling (Easy fix, NOT a deal breaker) I like this idea of the lids it prevents splashing and lowering evaporation. Pump is quiet and has great lifting power to self-prime and great flow! The Intake tube is in 3 parts to customize the length for your particular needs. My Aquarium is 24" tall and therefore required both tubes to ensure collection near the bottom of the Tank. At the midsection of the intake tubing there is also a "flow control" gate/switch built into the tubing to draw in water at the mid level so you can pull water from just the bottom or both bottom and middle. Very cool design idea! 🙂 This model has a space to hold 2 filter cartridges which is nice, especially if you have a planted aquarium and your "Finned Babies" are breeding machines! Anyone want some very Healthy and Robust Black Mollies, Molly Guppy Crosses!? lol More Babies = more waste! 🙁 The pump has nice flow and cleans well.My experience, as my Planted Aquarium becomes well established/aged...Due to my tank size/shape and the inhabitants rapidly overpopulated their forever home, Mollies breed like Guppies, the Filter is not able to keep up with the waste load. I am currently dealing with brown algae in the water column as well as Population control as the filter struggles in keeping the water polished. 🙁 (Using API Algeafix and Accuclear, along with 2-3 25-30% water changes weekly and having to rinse the filters every other day (water tests are all perfect, NO Ammonia/nitrates as it should be in a heavily planted aquarium). At a loss, I feel the filter is just not handling my particular Aquarium's demands... I ordered a larger Canister filter (link below) and will put this MarineLand Penguin 200 Power Filter on my 15gal. back-up/hospital tank it has no substrate, and minimal fake plants for the "Fin Baby's" comfort (should the need ever arise). To sum it up:I recommend the MarineLand Penguin 200 Power Filter, 200GPH for up to 40 gallon (Max) with MINIMAL population OR Strict Population Control! Recommendation: If you have 40Gal and are putting in Live bearers, I recommend going up a filter size or 2 because life throws obstacles at us and before you know it you have a tank full of Live Bearers and they can be tricky to re-home... not everyone has a neighbor with Fish Eating Fish nor can conscientiously send their babies to their demise. Also Note the Biowheel is basically useless, it does NOT turn. Do NOT let this one minor design flaw deter you from purchasing this Filter.Thank you for your time and Happy Aquarium Keeping! :)Canister Filter 370GPH w/UV light: https://a.co/d/2OWJ8QbPlease note that I have only just ordered this filter (Feb 2024) and cannot endorse or recommend the canister filter based on personal experience. The Canister I purchased is based on my needs and has MANY positive reviews. I included this for those who may be in a situation like mine & are curious as to what I am replacing the Marineland HOB filter with. ~Look for my review around April 2024

Review: Box came to the door with no additional padding, just a box like right from the store! Upside down on my doorstep. Turned it over...tinkle-tinkle, uh-oh. Opened the box, everything seemed O.K. Took off the elastic band took everything out. Everything was O.K. Put it together, poured in water , plugged it in, terrific, No sound, good flow, no water tinkle Everything perfect. I have one in my other tank for 20 + years and still works great. To clean, take out the impeller. There may be threads of algae twisted and hard to see. Take off algae with tweezers and even small pointed sharp scissors. Clean out the tubes, impeller housing etc. Also the inside where the impeller sits. I do this with a tooth brush and aquarium snake brushes. Leave the roller alone! Just clean off and rinse the filter(s), they last for months. Effectiveness of charcoal is give or take, lots of hype, little substance. Yes, filters look ugly dirty, again just rinse off and scrape with tooth brush. Change when it clogs up again in a day or three or when blue medium is too thin and charcoal falls out. Been doing this for over 20 years with no fish casualties, everyone is happy you will be to with this filter if it is taken care of properly. Clean when water overflows and roller stops rolling.

Review: Works great.. soon as u dropped the filter in after letting bio wheel get started. There was a littel milkyness i didn't think would dissipate but this thing sucked it totally clear.. happy so far..When drain is bleeding on the overspill gutter. Your filters are jammed meaning no flow rate to bio wheel to beat this rinse you filters in tankwater when you see overspill. This tem works amazing properly maintained. If ur combating alge like I was you will need to rinse filter more often.Cheers and enjoy! Love this thingI added charcoal bags in there as lots of room to jam mida in casing. Love this thing..Rember if you loose power clean impeller casing and magnet to clear Alge.Absoulylty great unit. bio wheel works great.. ( properly maintaind) .. rinse filter in tank water more often if your running alot of bio mass.Update bio wheel finely slowing down. Means its working. Rotating alot slower with intermittent pauses.. means you did it rite. Love this thingUpdate month later going strong. Generate!

Review: Easily plugs, wheel constantly stops running. I am constantly cleaning the intake pipe to get the wheel to spin. It is also Very noisy. The outflow is crazy strong. I had to make an magyver fix to slow it down or it shoots my fish across the tank! My old style penguin bio wheel doesnât have this problem.
Customers say
Customers like the quality and value of the product. They mention it's a silent, efficient filter for a low price. Some are satisfied with cleanliness. However, some dislike the spin rate. Opinions are mixed on functionality, noise level, water flow, and durability.
