Title: Easy to use and works great!
Review: This is a really great tool! Simple to install, simple to set up, and easy to use. Plus this device picks up satellite signals better than both my vehicles’ systems. The software works reliable and I like the user friendly features available on the main screen. Very glad I bought it. Great value for a good price.

Title: Garmin Drive 53 with Traffic GPS
Review: I could use my smartphone for Navigation. Far prefer to use a Garmin GPS. We have three functional units. Once in awhile a shortcut isn’t helpful. Usually very good directions. Two in Florida vehicles and one at our vacation home vehicle. Several times the Garmin has given better directions than my smartphone. I also compare roads to a current Atlas driving map. If the map, Garmin and smartphone agree, great. I’ve retired three older Garmin GPS units. Early units were $100 and worked quite well. Current three units cost $150 to $199. Pleased to use Garmin, type in an address and not talk to a phone!

Title: Pricey and at times failed to find an address and had to resort to iPhone to get directions.
Review: Quit working when placed under windshield in heat while car parked. Taking it off mount on windshield and placing on floorboard when parked in the sun now.

Title: Nice GPS unit
Review: I bought this Garmin GPS unit to take on trip in a vehicle that didn't have built in navigation. Great pickup for the drive. Worked well and took some of the guess work out of the trip. Also I didn't need use my data plan to get us around.

Title: Worse than my old TomTom
Review: I had some grumbles with my old TomTom, so when it finally bit the dust, I was open to a new brand. Well, since TomTom and Magellan no longer make car GPSs, Garmin is our only choice now, anyway. The most important function for any GPS is to navigate. This one very frequently loses its satellite connection. The map freezes, and a banner says Lost Satellite Reception or Acquiring Satellites. I've gotten to driving locally with it turned on just so I can monitor this, and it occurs randomly and stays this way for many minutes at a time. Meanwhile, I've passed 50+ potential turnoffs. Because of this problem, this device is worthless.Even while this GPS is working, while driving on an interstate, it will frequently direct me to take an exit, then re-enter the interstate at the same exit. Maybe it was two feet shorter? A Garmin GPS I used in a rental car 20 years ago did this, but I thought that Garmin would have corrected that by now--wrong.Also, this thing occasionally loses its view settings, so the perspective changes drastically, and good luck figuring out how to get it back. Even switching places with my passenger the last time this happened, it took me at least ten frustrating minutes to figure it out. Very unintuitive. So bottom line, I do not recommend this device. However, all the competition is gone. The world wants us to rely on our phones for road navigation. I could live with that if I had a cell signal in all the wilderness areas I frequent, but that doesn't work either. Our technology has gone backwards.

Title: Good upgrade from my 10 year old Nuvi 50
Review: My Nuvi 50 started having problems staying turned on while connected to the vehicle charger. Finally it stopped turning on altogether. I purchased the Drive 53 without traffic. It essentially works the same as my Nuvi 50 except better. It powers on very fast. The directions are more detailed. It has a map of the entire country. I used to have to choose which region I wanted to download a map of. They did change the positions of the arrival time and MPH. I was used to the arrival time being in the bottom left, now it is in the bottom right. Having a MPH display is useless. My Nuvi 50 showed the speed limit which WAS helpful. I looked in settings but don't see an option to change MPH to speed limit.Update: It's comical how you can completely overlook something. Right above the MPH display is the speed limit display.

Title: Bright display and map updates
Review: Since this is my 6th Garmin GPS, setup was very easy for me. I added this unit to Garmin Express on my desktop and it immediately let me know that there were software updates and a map update available to download. This unit was not advertised as "Lifetime Maps" and maybe the new policy at Garmin is to just allow map updates for the expected life of the unit which I am not sure how long that is. There was mention of this in the lengthy user agreement that you have to read (or scroll through) in order to start the downloads.
