Title: Great pictures and instructions
Review: Seems to be pretty thorough and informative for beginning cooks without talking down to them. Pictures are of real boys and girls making the recipes, not cutesy or childish pictures. Bright colors and good format. Good explanations like in the adult ATK cookbooks.

Title: 7 year old loves it
Review: I'm baking from this cookbook with my 7 year old. Its colorful layout and selection of recipes is very appealing to her. The thumbprint cookies, chocolate snack cake, and layer cake all turned out beautifully. The pumpkin pie was so-so (it uses gelatin--interesting!). The sprinkle buttercream recipe was terrible, like eating pure butter (we were able to correct it). The recipes are fussier than I use for day to day baking, e.g. calling for cake flour or using lots of dishes and appliances, but perhaps they are the "proper" techniques!? Overall, it's a nice way for my 7 year old to pick recipes to try and to become confident in the kitchen.
