The ultimate guide to ALL of Eleuthera, Bahamas 135 beaches. The book is complete with maps, detailed directions, stunning photos, and important tid-bits of information that can only be obtained by someone who has been there, seen that, and told all. Some who have never been to Eleuthera, or to the Bahamas, may wonder why they need such a guide. Picture a charming tropical island, but one without signs, clear landmarks, and many well-paved roads. Most of the beaches are accessible, but only if you know how to get there. The roads are often nothing more than rough pock laden trails cut through dense jungle brush. Planning your trip is important so that you understand the conditions and travel times. Even the more well known beaches can be tricky to find. And, with 135 choices, you want to choose the best. Why, then, would anyone go to so much trouble to find one of these hidden beaches? Because often at the end of your journey is pure majesty. Having miles of pristine sand and ocean completely to yourself with unique geographic formations, exquisite snorkeling, and extreme privacy is well worth the effort. Learn from us so that you can plan, arrive safely, and enjoy the splendor that is an Eleuthera beach.

Title: A must have for Eleuthera
Review: In Eleuthera, most of the roads (trails) to beaches are not marked. After wasting several hours searching for beaches I had only read about online, we bought this book. Itâs awesome. It is logically laid out, has detailed driving directions, and the descriptive ratings for each beach helped us to decide where to go each day. It also has photos that helped us know we were in the right place, and suggestions on where to park and the best place for swimming. IMO, it is a must have for Eleuthera vacationers!UPDATE: Having this book saved our vacation. Tropical storm Alex came across Eleuthera on on most recent trip (June 2022). Even after the 10â of rain subsided, beaches and snorkel spots that were normally calm waters were angry and rough. This book helped us find little known wind protected beaches where we could swim and snorkel calmly and safely. At fist glance, the book seems expensive, but IMO a small price to pay to save a vacation that costs thousands.

Title: Very useful
Review: The book is very useful for finding beaches (GPS coordinates for beach road and the beach). Some of the directions are outdated, for example Next 2 rocks beach is now private property On the rocks, etc. but overall it is great resource for finding secluded beaches. Some of the descriptions were not that accurate, for example snorkelling around Round Cove was not that great, in fact there were fish only around one single rock, entire area with seaweed was empty. Nevertheless, we had entire beach to ourselves which was great. Another small annoyance is that the authors appear to be rather spoilt, talking about sand dunes (what sand dunes? the island is remarkably flat), burrs, jungle etc. For anyone with hiking and camping experience, none of the "difficult" roads are really so. Driving can be a challenge on some of the beach roads, but there were no challenges for walking. One thing which was not mentioned in the book was sapphire hole or blue hole close to Preacher's cave. Anyone interested can access it by taking a road to the right when going to preacher's cave, it is unpaved road with some reddish clay. For anyone interested in enjoying a beach without anyone else there, this book is a useful resource. Picking a beach which is not mentioned online and which is in central or south part increases the chance that there would be no one else there.

Title: Best beach Guide
Review: This book is a clear, up-to-date and easy to follow guide for finding the most beautiful beaches in Eleuthera. It provides different rating characteristics, so you can find what youâre looking for: i.e easy to access or most private, etc. It helped me explore beaches in the northern, central and southern island areas during trips in March 2018 and 2022. Iâm very grateful for Mr. Sigilloâs expertise in this guide and The Snorkel Book. But most of all, his ongoing assistance to tourists, his love of the locals and continuing visits have made him an Eleutheran treasure. I highly recommend.

Title: A must-have if you are traveling to Eleuthera
Review: I am so grateful that the author made this book! It is super helpful in getting a grasp of all of the various beaches on the island. I bookmarked the ones I most wanted to visit prior to my first visit; it was so much fun to look at the beautiful photos and dream. I loved that my very favorite beach (Alabaster Bay) turned out to be a mile from my rental - it was one of the first beaches I marked in the book. After finding that, I didn't explore that much further. I found my perfect spot 🙂 . The Beach Book is coming with me again when I head back to Eleuthera in a couple of days - can't wait!Furthermore, the author is very active on various boards providing advice for people traveling to Eleuthera; he is a treasure trove of good information.Anyway, this book is a wise investment if you want to make the most of your trip to Eleuthera.

Title: A good book for finding beaches
Review: It was very helpful to read prior to our Eleuthera trip. Since the hurricane this past October (2015), some of the Atlantic beaches have more debris on them and some beaches have shells that weren't mentioned at the time the book was written (which is understandable!) James Cistern beach has shells now, which we were very happy to see. Overall the book was a good beach-finding tool to have, especially for those of us who have not been to Eleuthera before.

Title: I traveled to 108 of the beaches
Review: This is a must have book while searching for beaches. One main reason being that if on Eleuthera you wont have phone service at most if not all places.l so this will help you find each beach. Second reason is it is extremely accurate.

Title: Best Comprehensive Guide to Finding Beaches!!!
Review: I am excellent with maps and my sense of direction is uncanny according to Patti. Yet when we first arrived to Eleutherta and started exploring beaches it was quite a challenge, even for me :-). I have one of the 4 sided maps of Eleuthera by Tarbox Geographix - copyright 1996, which was the only instrument showing a vague map of roads and beaches. Talk about challenging when you're looking for a beach - WOW! There was no finding a cell phone signal on most of the island back in the day, so google maps would only be viewed sporadically, and then committed to memory. When I learned about Bret's' The Beach Book I bought the first edition - still have it and it's still in one piece. Talk about a time saver! There is no better tool to finding beaches on Eleuthera than The Beach Book!!!

Title: Sadly, becoming dated
Review: The pace of development on Eleuthera is astounding, and includes a billion dollar Disney cruise ship terminal in the works for the formerly pristine southern tip of the island. Many of the beaches described are now or soon will be accessible only to those in the gated communities that will soon totally dominate the southern half of the island. 10 years ago, this island was still virtually free of commercialism, the reefs were some of the best in the Caribbean and the beaches were as tranquil as they were beautiful. The coral is now showing the ravages of bleaching from excessive heat and disease, and many of the the beaches are snarled in plastic debris and/or being sold off for multimillion dollar lots. The island is becoming a poster child for what happens when 'economic interests' win out over the local culture and environment.

Review: What an excellent book! Each of the beaches are rated on the quality of the beach as well as the accessibility. One of the best features is that the quality of snorkelling at each beach is rated...which as a snorkelling family, is very important to us. Thank you for publishing such an amazing book...we are looking so forward to using it when we're on Eleuthera!

Review: A must have for beach exploring on Eleuthera! Some beaches have changed quite a bit (more or less sand) for example, but this is all part of the adventure with Mother Nature!
