Title: Fantastic if you're intuitive!
Review: This shade is absolutely fantastic. It's lightweight, it's really easy to set up, it's durable and you feel like beach royalty.There are a lot of reviews mentioning difficulty with wind, I included a video to show what it's like in high winds. It did fall down once because I was in the water and wasn't able to adjust the pills as the wind direction changed.Follow the instructions and pay attention to the tension. If you think you've filled the bags you're wrong, keep shoving that sand in until you have something the mass of a bowling ball to a mid-size watermelon. Wet sand is heavier and can be compacted even more! Once filled and the bags pulled into a taught square X, I dug a hole for the front two bags, and then piled, stomped and piled some more sand in front of the bag so they were shored up. Once the tension polls were propped up (this may pull the back bags forward a bit) I readjusted the back bags to make sure there was enough tension, and then dug holes for those as well.My only complaint is that it's really hard to tell where you are placing the ball end of the poles, so it's helpful to step back and readjust them a few times until they are relatively in the same spot. I might take some markers to make a dot grid in each corner. If you put the poles farther back then you get more shade with a low sun, if you pull the poles closer to the edge, you get less movement from the fabric in high wind.Like many outdoor things that require attention to nature, you have to understand some physics to make sure the angles are correct (remember triangles? They are your friend) and if the wind shifts drastically you might need to change the position of the polls.I had people come up to me after they had walked across the sand bank to tell me how surprised they were it was still standing. No umbrellas to be seen, but this thing withstood high winds for 5 hours straight! I'm really happy with this purchase!

Title: So easy to put up.
Review: We used to take our 10'x10' expandable canopy that took 2 people to get it up at the beach because of wind. It was heavy, took up much space and hard to get into it's case - outside of metal rusting is salt air.Was going to the beach and was going to rent a canopy. Looked online at beach rental for this type of canopy (didn't want the one that the wind keeps the back side up - too much noise) and it was $90 for the day. It was just 2 of us and looked at this Neso brand, 9'x 9' that was only $40 more to buy and thought, "Why waste money on years to come." It looked high quality and was so easy to put up, comes in a light weight small bag that can't be more than 5 lbs with poles inside. What I like most about this kind of shade is, the footings are so far out, it keeps people from setting up RIGHT NEXT TO YOU.Some instructions and video's show laying out the whole thing before filling footings with sand. If it's real windy, it will be hard to keep it in place. I would fill one front footing (facing the beach), then stretch the other front side over and fill it - but not digging a hole down into the beach yet. Stretch out the back footings one at a time to fill. Once filled, move and highly stretch out to where you want it. Then dig a big hole for the footings to sit in and cover with that sand. Only have to that if it's VERY windy. Just lift the front, put the poll about 1 to 2 feet from front edge, stabilize polls at an angle (depending on wind) and Whaa-Laa! Taking down is faster. Am going to use when camping in state parks (no wind) and just put rocks in the footings. Would think you need to be careful not to snag the material around trees - we'll see.The 9'X9' is great for up to 3 people, but could fit maybe 2 more if you purchase another set of poles (What I'm going to do for next trip) for the back to make a big off the ground square. Definitely worth the money and saved our keister's from sunburn.

Title: I ending up loving our Neso…after some experimenting
Review: When I first got this tent, I thought it was a great *concept*, but filling the sandbags was way too much hassle for this to be practical for shorter beach visits, or for smaller parties. So much work, filling those bags with sand, half burying them, and getting the poles situated just right! I honestly came close to selling my Neso, as I usually favor my wind-powered flag shades anyway.But then I switched out the sandbags for the “sideline conversion kit” straps that Neso sells separately. I tried attaching those carabiners to my “large” sand anchor screws, which happen to be Orange. The large ones are longer and sturdier than the black screws that came with the straps. This anchoring method for the Neso tent does work for me, with precautions, and switching out the sand bags made me actually like this tent.But before talking about the anchors, some pros and cons first.Things I love about this tent:-lightweight-doesn’t take up a lot of space when tucked into its carry bag-reasonably priced, compared to some other “luxury” beach shades-adaptable. If the wind is cooperating, it’s nice to be able to angle this shade a bit, in the morning or evening. And I like that I can pop in the two extra supports when my tall friend is with me, and we need more headroom.-the Grande is my largest tent, and I like it for when I need coverage for a couple more people. I wouldn’t try using the sand anchors with the Gigante though, so I’m happy with the Grande’s size.-it works even on windless daysThings I don’t love:-filling those sandbags. Ugh. What a tedious, sweaty task, even with a big spade. If you’ve got a party of 4, and can assign one bag to each person, it’s not so bad, haha.-I wish the shade were darker, or that I had gotten a darker color. It’s adequate coverage, but I have others that provide better shade.-Even though it’s lighter and more compact than a traditional shade canopy, it isn’t nearly as light or as easy to store as my “flag shade”.Now about the anchors. It’s important to note that I’m anchoring in sand that is already really compacted…I personally wouldn’t attempt this at a beach where the sand is especially “fluffy.” I screw the anchor as deep as I can, pour a little ocean water over it (to make the sand even heavier around it, kinda cementing it in, if you will), and then clip the carabiner to the ring at the top of the orange screw. After I have the tent stretched out and all four corners clipped (and I’ve re-checked the stability of the anchors), I *very carefully*, and without putting too much stress (NOT yanking!), raise the poles up under the tent. I always check for cracking in the sand around the first screw before moving onto the next. And I really tamp it down with my foot.I’m sure Neso would not technically recommend using the large screw anchors with their sideline kit at the beach. If you try it and aren’t careful, there is the potential danger of the screw getting pulled up from the ground and snapping back towards you. I have had an anchor come up only once, when a friend helped me set up, and yanked too hard when inserting the pole under the shade…so like I said, be careful, try at your own risk, and don’t sue me. But I wanted to share my experience, in case other people had been curious about trying this method. It can work. For me, it’s way easier, and had me adding this shade back into regular rotation.
