Brighten your view with PROSTAFF P3 8x42 binoculars. Full-size 42 mm front objective lenses gather maximum light—28.1 relative brightness—for a brighter, clearer view, even as daylight is fading. 8X magnification is ideal for birding, hiking, boating, sports, stargazing and more, and a wide field of view (377 ft at 1,000 yds) shows you more of the scene for locating wildlife or using the binoculars on the go. The lenses are made from eco-friendly glass and have Nikon’s multilayer coatings, which cut glare and improve contrast for spectacular HD views. The mirror surfaces of the roof prism have a reflective silver-alloy coating that delivers more of the visible light spectrum to your eyes. The binoculars are waterproof down to 3.3 ft (not intended for underwater use) and fogproof. A durable slip-resistant rubber armor provides drop protection and feels great in your hands. Adjustable eye cups with 20.2 mm of extra-long eye relief let you dial in a clear, comfortable view with or without eyeglasses. The evolution of Nikon's award-winning PROSTAFF 3S line of binoculars, PROSTAFF P3 8x42 binoculars deliver performance far beyond their price.

Title: In some ways better than far more expensive binoculars
Review: These are the best birding binoculars Iâve ever used. I go with a tour group at Prospect Park and the leader has a pair that cost over a thousand dollars that he let us try. The image quality on this is mostly comparable once youâre on the bird and the binoculars are fully up to your eyes. The advantage of the very expensive ones over these is that you can kind of see through them to line up on the bird before you fully bring them up. To me thatâs a skill you get after two or three hours of birding if you donât have that crutch anyway. The advantage of these over the expensive ones is the image of a bird in shadows is brighter with these. The tour leader thinks itâs a trade-off to get that ability to see through them at a slight distance, and to me the better view of the colors of the plumage would make these superior even at the same price point, once you put in the time and get the skill. The case that comes with these is nice. Itâs compact and it protects the binoculars quite well. The strap is comfortable to wear and I generally donât like hanging things from my neck. This one has a nice strap.

Title: These are the binoculars I wish I had when I was in my 20âs â¦
Review: Hi. My family has been using these compact Nikon binoculars to quickly get a closer look at the creatures that enter our backyard from the woods beyond. These are the glasses that are always out on our kitchen counter for âgrab âem quickâ access. We always leave the eyepiece caps/covers in place when the glasses are parked because they are easy to remove quickly (with the flick of a thumbnail to the centerpiece âsquigglyâ connector). I tell you this because it speaks to the overall quality of these binoculars and their ability to be handled frequent by many hands / multiple people. The rubber armor has a slightly nappy, texturized, surface that helps to make it secure to grasp and slip free. And when, and where, it counts, the armor is very effective at shrugging off frequent âpick them up and put them downâ contact on hard (countertop) surfaces. It works well â¦I find that the ergonomics of these Prostaff are fine for their price point. They fit comfortably âin handâ and are easy to adjust for different users. The (right eye) diopter, while slightly stiff to rotate, is aided by thumbnail friendly raised ridges on the adjustment ring. The eyepieces optics are wide at 22mm (my measurement) and provide a widescreen, relaxing, view. In total, the view they provide is both sharp and crisp and the opticsâ color rendition is quite good for these Nikonâs modest cost. The takeaway: As mentioned in my title, these are the glasses that I wish that I had in my early twenties when I spent a good amount of time with friends hiking, and camping, in the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire. These ruggedized, compact, binoculars would have made a home in a âquick accessâ side pocket on my pack. And, Iâm confident, they would have survived their adventures. I feel that these Nikons provide a lot of value for their price and that they would ⦠will ⦠make a excellent gift that will be used for many years.

Title: Outstanding quality and value
Review: For very portable and versatile binocular, this was the best option of many. Sports viewing critical with a wide field of view to stay with movement (soccer) and easy adjustability for increased magnification. Great purchase and speedy delivery - much appreciated.

Title: Superb optics; not so good on an important detail
Review: They are superb, and especially for the price. Extra-long eye relief, and I love that adjustment on the eyepieces, to just rest them on my cheekbones, excellent. And the right-eyepiece adjustment, though notably stiff, works very well.HOWEVER, as it true of almost all binos, the lens caps are a pain. Why can't Nikon, or any other bino manufacturers, put a little more thought into attaching the lens caps to the body of the bino (NOT to the strap), so that they can be quickly flipped off and on?Buy them, you'll love them, except for those annoyingly impractical lens caps.

Title: Great, wide angle Binoculars
Review: Excellent for scenery and general purpose. Good "eye relief". Sharp image, lightweight.I had another (very old) binoc which I gave to daughter/grandchildren. Also, currently have an Orion "10 x 50", which I dislike. It's OK for planet/moon gazing.

Title: Beautiful binoculars
Review: Beautiful binoculars, a pleasure to use daily. We use them to bird watch, as well as night sky star gazing. A real treat. 8x42 is the sweet spot for general use binoculars. 8x is enough power to see detail but still be able to hand-hold. 42 is a big enough lens to gather plenty of light for day or night viewing. 10x is too hard to hold by hand (realistically the upper limit for hand-held), as the image jumps around too much. 50mm diameter lens is also the upper end of hand-held, as it is heavier and bulkier to hold without a tripod. The P3 line is a perfect balance of good lens coating at a value price. The higher end models have better lens coating technology, but for the extra $$$ you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. The only other option to consider paying more money for is waterproofing. Only get waterproof if you really need it (using on a boat is the obvious situation). But for birdwatching outdoors on a clear day, the P3 is a great model. We literally use them every single day. Our living room looks out on a big field with a lot of nature activity. We keep these binoculars on the window sill, ready at a moments notice to watch the show. Nikon is known for optical quality, and these don't disappoint. Easy to focus, stays in focus, well made, sturdy. Just quality all around.

Title: OUTSTANDING VALUE!
Review: My wife shared her $100 Nikon binoculars with me, but got tired of having to refocus them every time I used them, and told me to get my own! I decided to âstep upâ and bought a $400 pair of Vortex Vipers. Probably great binoculars, but I couldnât tell the difference. So I returned and replaced them with the $100 Nikon Prostaff P3 8x42. Clarity, color, magnification, smooth focusing action. I like everything about them. Just a great value!

Review: This review is intended for a bino noob like myself, to share some of my learnings, while I looked for a pair that was travel-friendly; light, good optics, waterproof, and rugged. I also wanted a brand that will be around for product support if needed. Iâm not a pro and know very little about these instruments, so the criteria mentioned was a baseline, and good clarity and ease of use was an absolute requirement. Picking the Nikon PROSTAFF P3 8x30 ended up being a leap of faith. The reviews from others on Amazon helped. I had short-listed the Bushnell Prime 8x32 with similar specs but I couldn't justify the higher price.I did learn through research that going with 8 times magnification is the sweet spot for hand-held viewing as the image will be relatively steady versus 10-12 times mag, and an objective lens size of 30mm will give you a decent field of view and relatively good brightness versus a 25mm. While a larger lens (40mm and above) will result in a better image it will also add to the overall size and weight which is why I got the 30mm for travel. On receiving the product, I can say that it physically met the criteria that I had set. Image quality is great and Iâm happy with my purchase. Someone did mention that you will need a good lens cap management system as they are easy to misplace. I personally like that they are not attached, so nothing dangling. I would just remove them and keep aside until Iâm done for the day, versus trying to put them back at each interval. This will also not fit in your pocket, and it's more of a mid-size bino.I got this on sale at 20% off which was an added incentive, in addition to checking all the boxes for me. Iâve added some pictures as that is one thing I prefer when I read reviews. Iâm taking this on a safari in a month, and Iâll add to this review, IF there is anything new that unravels.
