“How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?”
– Epictetus, Stoic philosopher
Where can you find joy? Gain strength? How should we face our fears? Deal with the death of a loved one? And what about those reoccurring depressing thoughts?
While traditional schooling doesn’t address such questions, it’s exactly what ancient schools of philosophy were all about: They taught you how to live. Even though these schools don’t exist anymore, you and I and most people are in as much need of a philosophy that guides us through life as we ever were.
This compelling, highly actionable guide shows you how to deal more effectively with whatever life throws at you and live up to your best self.
A mix of timeless wisdom and empowering advice, The Little Book of Stoicism will point the way to anyone seeking a calm and wise life in a chaotic world.

Title: Very Comprehensive easy to follow Great intro into this philosophy
Review: Overall the book gave a solid foundation as to what stoicism is all about. I come from a Word of faith background and this gave me supplemental wisdom and advice. I really enjoyed the self analyzing and pausing before making any responses. One key point that really stuck with me is; We don't really suffer its only our interpretation of events that make us suffer. Stoicism is a very powerful tool because it takes the expectations we have and view them from rational lenses. There are however things I don't see eye to eye with like negative visualization and imaging the worst case scenario, bad things can happen but I don't agree that I should focus or contemplate on those things regularly. I do believe I manifestation whatever you say and focus you will attract good or bad. All in all solid read but some bones that I spit out.

Title: Helping me find my own path during this stressful and difficult time in my life/career.
Review: My career is currently falling apart around me (public middle school science teacher) and I am rebuilding my family after a brutal divorce. The stoic principals are the first set of "guidelines" I have found for living that really resonate. I am not sure about other folks that are in their mid-forties and experiencing the same level of life-stress and turning to self-reflection, therapy and introspective planning, but buying a Mazda Miata and getting hair plugs like my parent's generation of men just doesn't feel right. I want to be a better human a good father and a good husband. To do that, I am now learning from the greatest minds in stoicism. This book is a great introduction. Jonas Salzgeber has done a spectacular job of writing a framework for us all to use in this modern moment. Come join in the resurgence of Stoicism and see how much living your life in service to your fellow humans, taking possession of your choices, your emotions and your future!

Title: Wordy
Review: A good break down, and the thread of clear explanation but ever so wordy. The first part explains the philosophy, purpose, theory that sort of the thing. Then begins the second part which is about the practice and believe me after much repetition in the first part you are thristy for some fresh air and exercise. Only it begins again with page after page of philosophy and theory and reason but not practice; it does get to that eventually. Take in in small daily doses, it helps avoid the tedium of repetition. No need to go back a paragraph or page the next time you pick it up. Had this been pared down it would have made a good little hand book. Consider it a good clear introduction, but as drawn out day in a lecture hall.

Review: They say messages adapt to the society, and I agree with this reading right here. This is stoicism but adapted for a society on which it's relatively easy to thrive (compared to harsher eras in the past). It's good.

Review: Iâm not exactly sure how I got to this book but Iâve been asking the questions you ask yourself in your mid 40s and hoping the answers are somewhere. Turns out the stoics understood a huge amount and this book brings the philosophy to life in a clear and engaging way. I never really thought that an active acceptance of fate could be so powerful and life affirming. How getting into the gap between a stimulus and my response could fundamentally change how I approach situations for the better. Itâs incredibly powerful stuff and I hope the author reads his reviews so I can say great job you are having a huge impact!
