Title: These are amazing!
Review: I bought these to connect to my turntable so I can listen to my records without headphones. I have some really nice Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones with a flat response that I've been using to listen to my vinyl and it's been awesome to hear the albums the way the artists intended.I haven't had to alter the onboard EQ pots. The sound out of the speakers is very true to the source. I was worried it would be bass-heavy but the sound is very evenly distributed. It's also very crisp and responsive to the input (dirty records are muddy, but lossless sources are, well, lossless). I bought some stands so the speakers sit at ear level and it's as if I have my headphones on, but I don't.I bought the Bluetooth version of the Edifier speakers hoping to connect Spotify from my phone or work computer. The quality of the Bluetooth connection is just as good as my turntable direct cable inputs. This is an amazing set of speakers for the price. I'm sure more expensive ones will be even truer to the sound, but I feel I was very lucky to get a set of quality as these guys for the price.

Title: A joy to listen to - Much better than what I had expected with great sound qualIty and finish.
Review: *Update* just to reiterate, these continue to be such a joy to listen to, surprising me with the melodious sound… was just listening to Clarinet Blues by Bobby Gordon and Dave McKenna and it just sounded so beautiful. I don’t know what Edifier did but this cheap little speaker continues to impress, making listening to music a joy.———I wanted a inexpensive pair of speakers for the study. I have sound assistants (echo, nest) but the sound is tinny and lacks bass. I thought about adding an amp plus small bookshelves but it would have been a bit much in that small room. After some research, I thought I would try the Edifiers (Amazon had good ratings as did CR for a different model). I have to say I was blown away by the sound. I just had not expected them to sound so good.I have a full system in the basement for music with a Yamaha amp, Elac speakers and a subwoofer - and these of course do not match that system which costs more than 10 times the price of this system. Yet, these inexpensive little speakers sound very, very good - better than most of my hifi gear when I was growing up.The drums and guitar of ZZTop is clear and beautifully musical. Crystal Gayle or Jones vocals sound beautiful as does Camilla Cabello. Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here is perfect. as is a lot of classical and jazz. There are of course some songs that are not suited for these speakers - think the deep bass in Hans Zimmer’s Why So Serious - but these are typically songs where you need a sub anyhow.Just to note - I usually listen to these at moderate volume - 65 to 70db - so I cannot comment on high volume usage. The fit and finish is rather good (I got the black to match piano on which these are sitting).I wish they had Spotify connect.but the Bluetooth does work quite well, and a more visible LED light which would blink when you pressed the remote button to see if it is receiving a command. Finally - Edifier’s naming of their speakers is horrendous when trying to figure out what do buy. I wish they would have a simpler approach to naming, and to understand the differences between the speakers.Overall Summary - excellent audio performance, value for money and good fit and finish. Good for most music except songs with the deepest bass.

Title: These Speakers are INCREDIBLE
Review: I recently found myself in the market for a new desktop computer, as I spend 99% of my work time in front of it and mine was reaching the end of it's life. After upgrading to a new Mac Studio and Studio Display, I quickly found myself wanting better speakers than my old Logitech 2.1 sound system that was pushing fifteen years old.I shopped around, did my research, and read reviews high and low. I will admit that at first, I was skeptical about the Edifier RD1280DBs - being that they are not a name brand, I had never heard them in action, and I typically like to spend the extra bucks on something that I know I am going to have for at least a decade and use daily. However, I ultimately decided I would give them a shot given the other customer reviews and ratings. The worst that could happen was that I wouldn't be as happy with them as I thought I would be and that I could box them up and return them to Amazon.Let me tell you, I could not be more satisfied. These speakers are amazing! They have great range, good bass (though I *would* recommend adding a subwoofer to the setup), and, simply put, they are beautiful. They look sharp and modern with the covers on, or, if you're going for a classic look, you can pull the covers off.I held on to the box for a few days as I wanted to really put them to the test and make sure that my investment was one I was happy with, and today I decided it was time to toss the box and make it official. If you are on the fence, just as I was, pull the trigger and buy these things!A few notes worth mentioning that I think others might've experienced as well:• When I first unboxed these things and plugged them in, I connected them to bluetooth. I played around with them for an hour or two and couldn't seem to figure out why they weren't playing music from my computer loud enough. What I ultimately realized was that I had set the volume on my Spotify app lower for my old speakers (oops). I adjusted the volume properly and these things are *plenty* loud.• There are some settings to understand at first with which input makes the most sense. Ultimately, I ended up plugging a 3.5mm to RCA plug into the back of the speakers directly wired to the headphone jack on the back of my Mac Studio. This allows the ability to plug in and have sound running directly to the speakers, while giving me the additional option to plug another device in via Bluetooth if I have friends over that want to play music, need to connect my MacBook Pro, etc. It couldn't be simpler.• I did notice that there is a very faint audio signal noise when nothing is playing and the computer is quiet. Know what takes care of that? Powering them off when you aren't using them. Made simple with the remote that also allows you to pair bluetooth, or, pick one of the other two inputs, along with mute, pause/play, skip, turn volume up or down, or power them on or off.• One side note that I love about these is the lit beacon bulb behind the covers that indicates which input you are on, indicated by a color, or, if they are turned off.• Make note that there are some things you will want to play with to find the right range depending on what you are using them for. There are bass and treble dials on the main speaker and I *highly* recommend playing around with the correct levels for what you are using them for.• As I mentioned, I would highly recommend a subwoofer to go along with the system. In my opinion, it just completes the whole package. This made my entire setup complete, and I could not be happier. The subwoofer I went with is the BESTISAN 6.5" Active Home Audio Subwoofer. Another off brand I wasn't expecting to impress me as much as it did, but I'll write that up in a separate review. I just highly recommend adding it as it really adds the correct amount of bass to the whole setup.• In addition to a subwoofer, I added in a set of speaker stands that are also awesome at hiding all of my wiring and set my speakers at a nice height next to my desk, keeping my desk space clear of unnecessarily used up space. The set I got on those is the Perlegear Universal Speaker Stand (which you can also see in my photos). Another great product, but, one for a separate review as well. The grand total I spent on these incredible speakers, a great subwoofer, and two sleek speaker stands? Just over $300.00. You can't beat it for the quality. As I said previously, if you happen to be on the fence over the Edifier R1280DBs Active Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers, buy them. You will not regret your decision!

Review: I am writing this review after using the product for 2 months. These studio monitors are excellent and no words to appreciate the performance of it. I experienced cinematic sounds. I listened to the sounds which I didn't even listen in other music systems. Sounds are very crispy and clean. No distortion at high volumes. Voice is not splitting.

Review: I'd had my eye on these speakers for several months, reading reviews, watching videos (not a great way to get the feel for how a speaker sounds, of course), and reading up on the specs. I have never seen a product you can buy online with such a high percentage of positive reviews. Not just positive, in most cases. Glowing! Almost everyone says that you cannot get a better punch for your dollar than these little guys. They were all 100% RIGHT!The entire experience setting up these speakers is a joy, even a visual one. The finish (I got the wood finish) makes the product look so pro and classy. It did strike me as I was unpacking them that they are smaller than I had imagined they'd be. So much so that I thought maybe I was in for a nasty letdown. But, they do NOT disappoint.I did the simplest thing first, so I could start listening as quickly as possible: I hooked a coax line from a Blu-ray player directly to the system and threw in a CD. Right away, it was so crisp and punchy, everyone in the room was blown away. We tried songs from a few different albums, mostly 70's and 80's pop and rock for now (I listen to a very wide range of music, and can't wait to test some nice jazz and blues in a quieter environment) and increased the volume to the point where we could hardly believe this little system was filling our living room so easily.Then...I realized I was so excited to get going, that I hadn't hooked the SECOND speaker up to the first yet. We were only listening to half of the system. Well, I hooked that satellite speaker up and the news only got better. More power, more clarity. Right now, they are only set up about two feet apart as we have an older TV that has a shelf on top, but when we redecorate the living room and get a flat panel, I think I will be spreading them apart and maybe getting stands for them. I am sure this will only improve the experience. Then we switched to watching TV through them, and for me, with a case of tinnitus that varies in intensity day-to-day, the improvement in understanding general speech on TV shows is dramatic. The tinnitus usually covers up low-volume consonants in peoples' speech and the crisp tweeters allow me to hear small details in what people are saying much more easily. My daughter is getting her own apartment soon, and has expressed the desire to save up for a pair of these, as the sound quality from flat-panel TVs is less than enjoyable and these improve that greatly. You can't get better sound, better, cleaner amp power, classier appearance, or better size economy for this amount of money anywhere. They feel like they are well-built, with some weight, no shoddy corners or cheap workmanship.I also sent a bluetooth signal to them from my turntable, and it was trouble-free and sounded great. The turntable and speakers are across the room from each other for now, and there was no skipping or cutting out of the signal, and it did not sound overly compressed. Our TV setup has a Roku which is tied to our Tidal account, and we played a few albums through them this way also. You can hear the difference, of course, between CD and Tidal, but that is in no way the fault of these speakers, that is just what streaming music sounds like compared to uncompressed. In any case, it was still extremely enjoyable.Any level of purchase would be beneficial for this line of speakers, as they are identical from the basic with RCA inputs, all the way up through the added features, although I went all the way with the digital/BT and subwoofer output. I don't currently have a powered subwoofer, but I went for that feature because the Goodwills and charity shops are starting to overflow with that type of equipment, and if I added a piece like that, (and hid the sub in a corner, say,) then this system would be nearly unstoppable, and amusingly baffling to show to visitors. I am imagining that once you add a subwoofer, you can reduce the bass output on the system itself, thus increasing possible undistorted volume capability. I will add, that I got these to a very high volume with little, or mostly no, noticeable distortion. The built-in amplifier is very clean and outputs no noise on mine when there is no program passing through.Summary: AWESOME!

Customers say

Customers like the sound quality, value for money, and build quality of the speakers. They mention that the speakers enhance their music, are well worth the price, and have solid midrange and treble. Some appreciate the bluetooth functionality and look.
