Title: Impressive work
Review: Bonné's first book, New California Wine, helped shape my own ethical and qualitative map of producers in California when I was new to the wine industry in 2014. As a non-native speaker, I was also impressed with his elocution and verbal precision, and the book expanded my vocabulary just as it helped expand my knowledge. The New French Wine takes Bonné's educational map further. It is evident that his experience with French wine and culture is thoroughly lived and researched, and cuts to the core of the current, or even future trends and events in French wine production. The sheer volume of producers, more and less known, must have been a behemoth undertaking. It is evident that Bonné's determination is strong and his pre-frontal inhibition is high, as the outcome is impressively well and thoughtfully analyzed and organized. While I am using the producer section as a reference, I am enjoying the narrative section for its literary and educational qualities. There is no reason for this book not to become a reference staple for any wine-aspiring household or educational facility, together with classics from authors such as Jasper Morris and Jancis Robinson. Though priced as some of the most illustrious Loire Chenin's, both are fantastic deals: consider the amount of work and talent behind. A small issue (perhaps this is publisher's, not Bonné's fault) are missing descriptors adjacent to photography, as most wine consumers will not know which producer is depicted there specifically.

Title: A must-have for any wine lover
Review: The two books contain an incredible wealth of wine knowledge that will be of value to anyone interested in wine, regardless of how much you already know. Jon clearly has his finger on the pulse of French wine culture and writes in an informative but also entertaining style about the history, current challenges, and exciting changes happening with French wine. Jon is also not afraid to give his opinions, which I also really like. These books also clearly show how important wine is, not only as part of French culture, but also as an agricultural product, and how agricultural choices impact wine quality. While this book is focused on France, it no doubt has relevance to many other wine growing regions, and will definitely teach you a lot about grape growing and wine making.

Title: Gorgeous book, beautiful writing
Review: Iâve been eagerly awaiting this book since it was announced and have not been disappointed. There is clear love for the topic and thoroughness in which the regions, producers and changing nature of wine in France is brought to life. The stunning and arresting colors of the book are a beautiful addition to the coffee table. Have given several to others as gifts with a very warm reception. Makes the ideal housewarming present for my wine-curious friends. Kudos Jon Bonne.

Title: Amazing book by one of my favorite wine writers!
Review: A terrific follow-up to The New California Wine, a book I also loved. This books provides a fascinating deep dive into all the specific French wine regions from both a viticultural view but also from a broader cultural view. It takes head on some of the challenges French wine is facing, as well as showing insights on how the new wave of producers are thriving, and how more forward thinking traditional estates have adapted. Some might quibble on which producers got included or excluded in this book, thereâs always room for debate in wine world, but this shouldnât take away from the enjoyment of this book, and the interesting insights it provides. Plus the book on producers (there are two books included) has some awesome recommendations. Highly recommended for anyone even remotely interested in wine or French culture. One side note, I donât think itâs fair to leave low star reviews if you had shipping issues with Amazon. This has nothing to do with the author or the quality of the book, just take it up directly with Amazon.

Review: On the subjects that I'm already familiar, I'm learning, and there's insight into so much more. Each chapter has an "a-ha" moment about something you really want to read about and understand more. It's a view of today's France, with a journalists eye, and a million miles from the typical book on wine and wine regions.
