Title: Set it and forget it!
Review: Very easy to use, very easy to set up and toss in the ingredients and forget about it until it's ready. I missed it the first time I read the booklet but do the basic 30min bake to burn off any residual manufacturing oils woth the lid open. There might be some smoke coming off from the heat coils, which I definitely would not want in my loaves but I read this is normal so it is important to leave the lid open. It's a sleek design and appearance, easily kept clean with a simple wipe of a wet cloth on the outside. If you are going to make the bigger loaf in any of the included recipes make sure to check on it periodically since it can hit the top of the lid and stick there, and go over the lip of the pan and the little handle that you use to pull the pan out.Cleaning is super easy, wait for it to cool down and go in with a wet cloth to get any flour or dough. My biggest suggestion in regards to this is to do it twice to make sure nothing is left. The machine is bulky but light weight in comparison - the baking rack I have to cool the bread in the picture is about how much countertop space I'd suggest for this bread machine (which is probably the only downside I could say about it is that it needs more space than you think).Overall this machine does the job well, filling the house with freshly baked smells. I highly reccomend it to those who don't mind the size or the easy maintenance afterwards - the fresh bread is worth it!

Title: Custom settings make all the difference.
Review: I almost returned this bread machine.I loved the size of the loaves it makes and the double paddles. I originally bought it because my other (4 yr old) âartisanâ bread machine couldnât mix raisins into dough without me standing over it with a wooden spoon, helping. Havenât tried raisin bread with this one yet but Iâm sure the 2 paddles will help. I wanted to see how it does with the basic white, first. I live at over 3,000 ft. elevation, so while not that high, itâs high enough to mess up baked goods. There are always altitude adjustments needed. Also, looking around online and measuring it myself, I found there are many different answers to how many grams are in a cup of bread flour. I found a range of 120 to 166 grams per cup. Thatâs quite a range when you need 4 cups and precision is important. After several test loaves, I found 135g/cup for the bread flour I use, to be the perfect amount and as it turns out that is what West Bend says on p.9 in the user manual.I ended up trying the custom settings, Menu 11, since I wasnât all that thrilled with the test loaves to that point. They seemed to not rise as high as I thought they should and seemed too brown on the sides for my taste. So, using 135g bread flour per cup and reducing the yeast by 1/4 tsp because of my altitude, I increased kneading and rising times and reduced baking time. The loaf came out just how I wanted it. Couldnât ask for more. I was actually quite surprised that changing the times on the various cycles could make such a huge difference in the final loaf, but it does. The reason I was going to return it was that the pan is pretty hard to pull out of the machine when the bread is done. Since the bread is so good (after you put in a little effort to get it the way you want it) and I like the other features (pan size, double paddles, size and overall look of the machine, nice viewing window, easy to read screen) not found in other machines at this fantastic price point, I decided to keep it and Iâm very happy I did.Update: Added raisin bread pic.

Title: Greatest bread machine!
Review: Iâve had several bread machines but, not one like this. It bakes perfect every-time. Dual paddles to mix thoroughly. Does everything. The fresh smell of bread permeates the house. Perfect bread every time. Has one heating element that bakes evenly. Priced reasonable. I highly recommend this bread machine to everyone. Iâve tried many before I bought this one and none compare for bread quality, taste, perfect loaf and price.

Title: No Jam setting and the beater blades come off in the loaf
Review: I hope over time I will figure out the ins and outs of this machine. I was disappointed that there was no Jam setting and the beater blades come off in the loaf. It is not clear if there is a way to secure the blades so expect to dig them out of the bottom of your loaf before serving. At least that part is easier to clean than fixed blades. On the bright side, the pan is long, not tall. I hate the tall bread machines because all too often the bread gets sad at the bottom because it is fighting gravity. My loaf seems to have risen evenly. I will have to report back once I've eaten it all. I've only made one loaf so far. I made a gluten free loaf. The booklet recipe calls for a bit too much salt as my loaf tastes salty like pretzels. You may need to try a few recipes to find one to your taste.I like that there are doneness options for browning and a general setting #12 where you can choose just a straight bake time with no other actions.

Title: Not Used Like New - Not Even Close and will not knead dough
Review: First response is below and starts with "second one". Although I was not happy with the used like new bread maker condition, I decided to see if it worked and if it did I would have kept it, but the paddles would not knead the dough and kept getting stuck and you could hear the motor straining trying to turn the paddles. I was making a 2.5 pound wheat loaf, and I have the same brand and model from 20 years ago and that one never had this problem and still works fine. I thought it would be time for a nice new shiny one. The reason I want this particular model is it makes an actual loaf of bread, not some weird shaped loaf. Very disappointed this will not work.Second one I purchased USED. The first was returned because it was missing a paddle. This one is pretty beat up due to the bread pan being loose in the unit and making some pretty big marks to the inside, and has black grease on the inside rim, but at least I got two paddles. Also, there is something like crusty dough on the inside walls does not easily come off because it is scrapes from the pan. Not happy with "LIKE NEW" description. Will clean it and try it tonight and if it works I will probably keep it. Wish I would have just bought the new one. Not a very big price break for something beat up and greasy. This is used, and may have been in better shape before it was shipped with the bread pan detached and damaging the unit.

Review: First use was using the old fashioned bread recipe from the manual. I forgot to change the setting for loaf type, so it actually used the French bread timer - the loaf turned out perfectly (ate half the loaf while still hot before I remembered I wanted a picture ð). Today I used an online recipe for whole bread bread. This time, I forgot to change the setting to 2lb loaf, so it ran the 2.5lb cycle - again, the loaf was perfect.Excellent crust for both loaves - white was light crust, whole wheat was medium darkness. Great chew, tender inside. The whole wheat did not rise near as much, stopping ~ 1" from top of pan. The white bread was well above the edge, close to 1.5". The white bread made excellent toast. I'm guessing the wheat will as well.During the final rise, I lift the ends of the dough to remove knead paddles, then shape the dough to the pan. This allowed for easy loaf removal from pan without tearing large holes. I found the loaf can still stick to the spindles, but I simply turn the spindle from the bottom of the pan a couple times, and the loaf comes right out. It's all hot, so be careful.Very happy with this machine. It makes excellent bread, seems very forgiving for small hiccups (I still measure VERY carefully, which I believe to be critical, regardless), it cleans up super fast, and it's fairly quiet. It does cause a good shake on a free standing sideboard, but stays put. No issues with movement or shake on quartz counter.I highly recommend this machine.Update: I tried using instant yeast instead of bread machine today, and found the whole wheat/all purpose flour loaf rose higher, and produced a less dense loaf, more like what you expect from major brands. Very pleased with this result (last pic)

Review: Ordered through Amazon UK and knowing it was. Coming from AmazonUS, I contacted Customer Services to get them to check the item could be used in UK. They assured me they would get back to me within 48hrs of contacting the seller. I didn't hear after 48hrs so contacted customer services again and they stated they had checked and item did come with UK power! Item arrived and need I say I was incorrectly informed. This came with a two pin US voltage plug... Not compatible in UK maybe unless you use a massive down transformer which could be the similar size again so I've sent it back.. Don't take customer services word for it, do your own research. This was a birthday gift but luckily I bought ahead of the time so chance to buy a UK brand one.
