Title: Very good product
Review: This is my first bread machine, and I am very satisfied with this product. Reasons:- Costs a lot ($30) less than a similar product from Cuisinart that does not get as good reviews- Arrived quickly, well packaged (with outside cardboard box) and undamaged- Very compact (more so than I thought) and lightweight, nice looking finish- Comes with measuring spoon, measuring cup, and paddle removing tool (for the times when the paddle remains embadded inside the loaf - super easy to extract it)- Well made where it counts (non-stick baking pan, non-stick and metal paddle), simple where it does not (basic, non-lit display)- Easy to use- Programs include jam (I will try it soon)- Very easy to clean (with a wet paper towel, no detergent) thanks to the non-stick pan and paddle- Well-written manual, basic recipes shown are accurate and well explained (so far I tried basic bread, french bread and sweet bread)- Does not "walk" on my counter (I placed it on a sliding plastic tray)- Relatively quiet, does not bother me at allMy only wish is that the lid was a little taller. When baking a 2 Lbs. loaf the rising dough just touches the lid and makes a bit of a mess, but it is not hard to clean it.Also, it had a strong and not very pleasant chemical smell (coming from the main unit, not from the baking pan) when it arrived. As recommended in the manual, I let it bake with an empty pan for 10 minutes a couple of times and now the smell has subsided almost entirely. Anyway, it does not affect the flavor of the bread, although I would recommend to operate and store it inside a well-aired room the first few days. All in all an excellent and reasonably priced product - I would definitely buy it again!

Title: Fresh baked bread all the time
Review: So easy to use and clean. Just wish I could find a good bread slicer as I'm terrible at it even with the guides...My wife loves the smell of fresh bread and we rarely get commercial sliced loaves anymore.

Title: Good bread maker with a few downsides
Review: This is a good bread maker with a fair price.Pros:Compact size which does not take too much of my counter space.Makes good bread.Good functionalities.Cons:Too light based, the whole unit travels to everywhere when kneading.Very loud.Canât use it constantly because it will be overheated easily and stop working. I had to unplug it and let it cool down before use it again. The kneading pad has lost some of its coating after approximately 2 months of use.It is a little trick to remove the kneading pad.Donât use the hook that comes with it, that thing is sharpe and will scratch off some of the coating. It does not have a customized function nor a separate kneading function. I have been using the dough one for kneading (it will knead for 25 minutes and proof the dough, you need to set up an alarm if you donât want to proof the dough yet).Otherwise this is a very budget friendly bread maker.

Title: Worked great the first time. LOVE THE SMALL SIZE.
Review: I made my first 1# loaf and it came out great. 100% whole wheat. I followed the recipe in the booklet but I didnât have any dry milk or gluten flour, so I added about one and a half tablespoons of all purpose flour and it worked just fine. The loaf is about 4-1/4â high. I just LOVE the small size and light weight of this machine! Iâve had 2 other bread machines in the past, one being a fancy Zojirushi, and I like this better. The only thing this canât do that the Z could is program in your own settings. And I never found a place to store the Z in the kitchen as it was so big and heavy and my kitchen is small. I love, love this Hamilton Beach. Simple, easy, small. The paddle did not come out inside the bread and it took some soaking and a little work to get the paddle out of the pan. The bread slid right out. The control panel is a little hard to read because itâs not back-lit and you need a light on to read it, hence the 4 stars for ease of use. I placed it on a soft rubber mat to keep it from moving while it kneads, because all bread makers do that. I learned from past experience that having a bread machine, any bread machine, on a Formica counter top can mar the surface because, as it kneads, the feet move around a little in the same spot. So, protect your counter with something and get one of these.

Review: First of all, watch the prices as they vacillate [for both black and white trim] between 99 and 150. My only negative about this machine is the absence of information about the processes it goes through. Hamilton Beach provides all of that for a similar newer model -- I had to work it out myself to know when to remove the paddle to avoid that big hole. I purchased it in black for a young friend, tested it, ordered her the one in white and am keeping the black for myself. It's been used four times - it has never travelled on the counter. Yesterday when she visited I showed her how to guarantee a good loaf -- it is mandatory to watch the kneading process [for all bread machines] because different flours absorb different amounts of water and the only way to know if the dough is right is to watch its behaviour. Because you are watching the dough, you can make additions like seeds. Don't use the 2# setting unless you are just making dough, and do remove the paddle at 1:40. That gives time for the dough to have its final rise and be baked. Choose the light crust. One of the things this machine does is to divide the kneading into two periods -- it permits a preliminary rise after the first kneading, during which water gets absorbed, and after that goes through a second kneading. I can compare this only to a Black and Decker and my Cuisinart Convection, which have only one kneading segment -- Hamilton Beach has a superior programme. If you are prepared to watch the kneading [look for film clips at saladinajar.com] you will have 100% success with this machine. However, if you just put the ingredients in and leave, or set the timer, you are likely to be disappointed because if the dough needed more water [add 1 tbsp at a time] or more flour [add 1 tbsp at a time] you will not have known. I am copying this review for the black trim. Hamilton Beach: please, make a chart of the steps and times available online. I called you and spoke to two clueless reps and no one ever got back to me. I had to stay near the machine and note each step and the time in order to know when to remove the paddle [doing so leaves a small hole only].Jam -- I have made jam in it twice -- works wonderfully!
