Review: I read very negative reviews here on this book. Indeed, it is printed in black and white, and with few illustrations. So what? I am not the kind of person who would buy a book on any food-related topic just for the pleasure of the pictures, and of looking at very flashy multicoloured dishes. And I found this book most useful, therefore. It will come as a great help to any beginner who wants to get into serious cake baking, and who plans to go heavily into cake fillings and icings. Concise, but detailed, this gives you 25 different buttercream recipes! Where else are you going to get that much info? I have other pastry books and none so informative on this topic. I therefore do not care about the rather basic printing quality and about the absence of pleasure for the eyes: I bought it to learn about buttercream, and this lady is certainly going to teach me a lot about that!
