The Journey to find you the Best Cable...
When I first began the journey to build cables I was looking to build a cable for myself. I started with a variety of components from plugs to cable to protective weaving, trying to find the best combinations for both signal and durability. Soon other musician friends started seeing and hearing what I had and requested a build of their own. It didn’t take long before the builds were so many Rattlesnake Cable Company was born.
The Rattlesnake Cable Company cables are built using our wire proudly manufactured here in the United States. The milled wire is built to our specifications and use high quality Oxygen Free Bare Copper (OFBC). We use high grade Neutrik PX Series plugs. Our cable is built to last in live situations, while providing great signal and tone in recording situations. The cable is low capacitance at 20-25pF/foot providing great high-end without sounding brittle or harsh and supplying a good amount of low end. Each cable is hand soldered and assembled here in beautiful Missoula, Montana. Each cable is meter tested as well as played to ensure that the tone is 100% before the cable is shipped.
Only the best components for the best results!
The Cable - If you're not too familiar with capacitance in cables, here is a quick simple explanation. Some cables begin to bleed off the high end and signal, especially with longer runs. The cable itself becomes a capacitor, and to address this, we have our Oxygen Free Bare Copper (OFBC) low capacitance cable manufactured here in the United States to preserve that high end. Additionally, I hated cables that tend to be noisy or worse, cease to work due to the shielding being weak or easily broken. The cables we use have a strong braided copper shielding with 95% coverage. This makes the cable super heavy duty... and quiet!
Quality Plugs – We primarily use Neutrik PX series plugs for our instrument cables. The plugs are great quality and their cable clamp system adds more protection for the cables by securing the plugs tightly with the cable.

Title: Best cable Iâve ever used and economical compared to other name & boutique branded cables.
Review: These are the best cables Iâve used in my 35+ years on stage and in the studio. They are by far not even close to the most expensive cables Iâve purchased, as this 20 foot Cable was about half the price of the most costly 20 foot cable I bought, a cable BTW, that lasted maybe six months of average use. It sounds crazy that one would spend that much on a cable, but this lowly insulated length of wire can make or break the thousands that one may spend on the guitar/bass, the amplifier, effects pedals, amplifier and speaker cabinet. A poor quality or damaged cable can make ones years of hard earned skills, money spent on quality gear and years spent playing and getting gigs in better paying venues go to crap in a NY minute. A good quality cable is an underrated asset and most think of it as an afterthought. Rattlesnake Cable Company Cables are custom made one at a time according to the wishes of the buyer from the options that are available...the options are a practical set of offerings and upgrades. Even if one chooses to not upgrade the connectors, the stock accoutrements are of an excellent quality and the builder, Hank, has done his curation homework offering the best for the buck. Itâs not often one finds a âboutiqueâ builder that has balanced the cost of including quality components with the price charged for a given build and the result is the best cable, as I stated, that Iâve utilized and at a cost that really is not a whole lot more than a mass produced, recognized name brand cable. All the common types of cables are available...instrument, microphone (aka lo-z XLR), speaker, pedal steel and patch cables for the pedal board. He even makes a line buffer thatâs better than most and is also less expensive than many. Whatâs a line buffer? Succinctly itâs the solution to a pedalboard exclusively loaded with a bunch of âtrue bypassâ pedals, that along with 20 feet of cable from guitar to the board and another 15-20 feet from the board to the amp results in the kind of âtone suckâ high frequency loss like someone threw a moving blanket over the speaker cabinet. Why? In spite of the âtrue bypassâ philosophy that is supposed to eliminate the tone suck that was prevalent in the non-true bypass pedals of yesteryear, when there is that much cable running between the guitar and the amplifier, no matter whose cable is being used. Itâs a physics thing. Rattlesnake Cable Company has you covered with Hankâs incredibly effective, economical line buffer that compensates for the physics that eliminates your high end. Iâm systematically replacing the old assortment inferior cables in my gig bag and in my project studio with Rattlesnake Cable Company products. They are quieter, far more transparent and robust than anything else Iâve used and/or currently own. Theyâre hand made, one at a time in Montana and the QC is faultless.

Title: Awesome cable
Review: As a long time working bass player Iâve used a lot of different guitar cable. NONE seemed as well built as my new Rattlesnake cable. Man this thing is fantastic. The connectors are like a tank and the weave feels like itâll last forever. I expect itâll take a lot of punishment. I love that it can come in different colors so itâll always stand out and apart from other cables. Iâve only just received it so I canât speak to itâs longevity. This weekend will be itâs first use on-stage.

Title: Solid cable for studio or stage
Review: Iâve purchased over 20 cables from Rattlesnake. Hank and the RSC team do an excellent job of building cables that are durable and provide crystal clear audio. Iâve been so happy with these cables that Iâve started to buy them as gifts. The colors are an easy way to keep the connections visible and easy to recognize. After 20 years of running a recording studio, I can honestly say these are some of the best cables Iâve used. Iâve used them while tracking drums, guitars, horns, vocals, synths, and DI signals for bass. They work great with instruments, condenser mics, dynamic mics, and even ribbon mics. Iâm extremely pleased with these cables.
