Title: See it, you'll be a believer
Review: I'm not impressed with this camera; "astonished" would be closer to the mark. Purchased this Akaso EK 7000 based on a recommendation from a friend of my wife's, and I just can't believe what this little camera can do for the money we put into it. As a caveat, we're not pushing the camera to the limits of human endurance by skydiving, mountain biking, scuba diving or the like. But it works extremely well for our needs. My wife competes in dog obedience training, and likes to review videos of her dog's performance after trials and matches. Finding someone willing and capable to record her session in the ring on a cellphone is always difficult. Most of the other dog handlers are preoccupied with their dogs, and it's not good ring etiquette to approach too close to the show ring to shoot video, since that will be a distraction. She noticed another handler retrieving a tiny camera from just outside the corner of the ring after her session and asked about it. Turned out to be this little EK 7000, and that handler was very enthusiastic about what it could do. When my wife asked for it for Christmas I was skeptical, so I spent a lot of time researching this and several other cameras. While there were other cameras that were able to do what the Akaso could do, and possibly even more, they were all at least two to three times as expensive. So I went ahead and gave this to my wife for Christmas. We gave it a full practice run-through yesterday, mounting it on a short tripod at the corner of the ring. I used the 1080p 30fps setting instead of the 4K mode to get more storage space and lengthen battery life. Had the camera on for about an hour, shooting about a dozen videos of one to three minutes, plus a number of photos, and with wi-fi on for a while, and off for a while. I tried starting and stopping the camera manually, then used the phone app, and lastly used the remote for a while. All worked well, even from about 20 yards away. Back home I hooked up the camera to our 55-inch TV (via a micro-HDMI cable, not included), and we were both very pleased with the video quality. Since it's a wide-angle lens, people (and dogs) are naturally pretty small at about 15 yards, but the high video quality means that when you put the video on a large screen you can still see all the details. The sound was a little muddy, but a huge overhead furnace was running right over the camera which made audio pickup difficult. The battery lasted for at least two hours with the camera on, and was recording or playing back videos later for most of that time. The little charger will charge two batteries at a time, and seemed to need only an hour to take the battery from fully discharged to fully charged. (Lights on the charger progress from magenta to red to blue while charging.) You can also charge the battery just by connecting a USB cable to the camera, which we did while transferring files to the computer. I used four different video viewers on the our computer to watch the videos, and all showed the clips with no problem. Settled on VLC Media Player to access slow motion and other features. There are so many attachment options included in the box that I can't imagine you won't be able to mount it any where you wanted. I used the frame with bottom and top threaded sockets to mount it to a regular camera tripod, and it worked great. The camera is so tiny that I've taken to putting it back into its waterproof case for additional protection before stowing it in the camera bag. A couple notes: We installed the Akaso DV app on a Samsung Galaxy S5 cellphone. It worked almost perfectly, although at one point I changed modes at the same time I rotated the phone, and that, or some gremlin, locked up the app tight with a black screen. Force-stopped the app and restarted it, and had no further problems. The app itself is great, giving you the ability to start and stop the camera from a distance via a wi-fi connection, (be sure to disconnect the phone from any other wi-fi networks first), and actually see what the camera is recording live. While recording, the camera flashes a little red light on the top of the camera, but it's not visible from anywhere but right above the camera. This means that when using the remote, if you don't keep careful track of your button pushes, you may stop a recording already in progress when you meant to start one. The phone app shows you what the camera is doing, but running the wi-fi on the camera shortens the battery life somewhat, according to the manual. In the mode we were using, 1080p @ 30fps, the video was using about 106mb/minute. Unless my math is off, that means a 64gb card will store close to ten hours of high-quality video. One gotcha is that if you do change out the batteries, the camera forgets the date and time and you have to re-enter that if you want to tag your files accordingly, which is a bit of a hassle. Would I recommend this camera to a friend? Absolutely. Would I buy it again? Only if we lose the little guy, a definite possibility with something so small. I'd better go write our name and phone number on it with a Sharpie right now!

Title: Works well after contacting Akaso Support from their website for fix
Review: If you ever installed and configured a dashcam for your car, this camera has a similar menu/configuration interface. You will use all the buttons available on the camera to navigate and program the settings. My camera had an issue with retaining the settings like date and time after power cycling the camera. I reached out to Akaso support via email and they responded immediately. A firmware update was needed. It was a simple procedure that requires an SD card. I used the 128GB one I purchased separately to store video and photos. The camera supports up to 256GB flash cards. Video quality is good. Up to 4K resolution. Video has stabilizer setting, but photo camera does not. Photo does not appear to support zoom either. The camera includes a good amount of accessories. A waterproof case, assorted mounting hardware and a 2-button remote controller to take photos and videos that you can wear on your wrist. The only negative I have with this camera is there is no screw mount on the body of the camera itself. Only the waterproof case has that. This is a problem because although 2 main batteries are provided, the battery life is only sufficient to record short videos and photos for a couple of hours. But for time lapse video and photo recordings, the camera needs to be plugged into a constant power source via the USB-C port. This is the only way to keep the camera on for extended periods of time, like several days. The waterproof case does not have an opening on it that will allow the usb power cord to be plugged into the camera. I drilled a hole on the side of the case to allow me to plug in the cord, but this obviously defeats the weatherproof/waterproof seal of the case. Other than this, the camera functions and is priced well for the features it provides.

Title: Excellent value for the price, and competitive with other sports cameras
Review: I bought this to film travel videos and reviews. So, many of the included attachments and accessories didn't interest me... I chose this camera because the reviews led me to believe it's competitive with GoPro cameras, but far less expensive. The reviews were right. The video quality is excellent. The lens captures a very wide area, horizontally, which is a plus if you want viewers to see absolutely everything. And, if you're using video editing software, you can always crop out what you don't want viewers to see.The camera has a high color sensitivity and it's well-balanced, so nothing looks washed-out. My video editing software automatically stabilizes what I film, so I don't know about this camera's stabilization features, and - if that were important to me - I might buy an Akaso that mentions that as a feature. The manuals that come with this camera are best for people accustomed to using sports/action video cameras. I just looked at it and blinked. It wasn't even close to what I needed to understand how this camera works. A PDF manual can be downloaded, online, and it's available in many languages. But frankly, I went to YouTube for far clearer instruction. In fact, that's the best way to figure out what all the bonus attachments are, which come with the camera. You'll also pick up useful tips from some videos... things that I never expected from such an inexpensive camera. My only disappointment is the tripod attachment, if I don't want to use the waterproof case that comes with the camera. The basic tripod attachment covers the viewing screen when the camera is mounted on a tripod. So, after mis-estimating the vertical coverage I was getting, I put the camera into the waterproof case and then attached it to my tripod. That worked fine, and I saw no distortion - or difference at all, really - between what I filmed without the waterproof case, and the footage with the case. (Well, except that the waterproof case made it possible to see exactly what I was filming. For me, that's kind of important.)Also, don't expect the clip-on attachment to hold the camera securely to a pocket or shirt collar. The camera is heavy enough to tilt forward, so - even with a fairly stiff pocket or collar - you'll be filming what's on the ground, not straight ahead. It will probably work fine with a strap (or other gear) designed to work with that kind of clip and this kind of camera. But, those issues are related to the myriad attachments included with this camera. Most competing cameras expect you to pay more for those, and don't include them as Akaso does.In other words, the free/included attachments are great for people who will mount the camera to a helmet, etc. They don't work as well for me, so the attachments get a three-star review from me, at best. However, the camera itself is a solid four-star product, at least, and I'm tempted to give it five stars. It's an excellent choice, regardless of price.I particularly like how small the camera is. It fits comfortably in a large pocket or small purse, and the waterproof case is easy to use, while protecting the camera lens from scratches when you're not using it.After seeing the quality of this camera and the videos it produces, I wouldn't even think about paying more for a competing brand. Some online videos - comparing this camera with another brand that costs about twice as much - show a slightly better image quality in the higher-priced camera. Also, the sound quality seems much better in the higher-priced camera. But, for my use, neither of those things would convince me to spend the extra money. The Akaso EK 7000 4K does everything I'd expected it to, and the quality is far better than I'd hoped, as well.If you're not sure whether you'll use a video camera like this, I think this is an ideal starter model at an affordable price. For most people - including travelers and sports enthusiasts - this may be the only video camera you'll need.High quality, low price, lots of extras... that's a winning combination for me. I'm very pleased.
