Title: Excellent For DIY Auto Projects - Launch CRP129X Is a Good Produce - Easy to Use
Review: About two weeks ago I purchased the Launch CPR129X scanner. If you are looking for a scanner for your own use, this might be a good choice. The price varies. It gives a lot of information, and the firmware comes with a free lifetime update. The scanner also connects to Wi-Fi and allows it to download updates. It also has a "Mall", Store, that you can purchase add on functions. I purchased the add on for GM vehicles that adds more function. This was an added $34 purchase on the mall off the scanner. The add-on features are only good for one year.ReportsThe scanner allows you to input a business or your personal name and your email address. It will email you a nice-looking report with all the details of the scan results. You can take snapshots of any of the scanner screens that can also be sent to your email address.Live DataYou can view live data of anything on the OBD2 connection. It will also live stream graft the data, allowing you to view any changes. This data can also be recorded for capturing any changes and saving them for future viewing. These recordings can also be emailed.My only complaint, the product description offers a free lifetime update service. This is for the base level amount of scan data. If you want the full scan capability, you need to purchase additional firmware from their mall. They are only good for a year and after a year, you need to purchase again. It is still cheaper than other scanners and gives the same results as scanners costing way more.All in all I’m happy with this unit. It feels comfortable to use and seems to be made well. I give it a full 5 stars.

Title: Awesome portable hand held scanner!
Review: This is definitely a mid level scanner. I am still learning how to use the functions but overall it does what it is intended to do which is read trouble codes, give descriptions of the code, and clear the code. Its touch screen too. Also there is a function that takes you to the internet where you can google the code and play a video on youtube. Which I find pretty amazing. My snap on scanner doesn't even do that. Plus the price of this scanner is very affordable for what you get compare to my outdated snap on scanner. Also there is free updates you can install.When you unbox the item it comes with the obd2 connector cable, the scanner itself, a carrying case and also the charger cable. Instructions aswell. The scanner is charged and it is portable unlike most entry level scanners you need to connect to the cars obd2 port for it to turn on. When you plug this scanner to a car, it automatically VIN codes the vehicle which means it pulls up the car specs automatically for you instead of finding the year, make, model and engine size with a higher end scanner. This has live data stream and freeze frame functions. It also has some capabilities to reset oil life, and tpms for certain type and year of a car. Not all but some. It also have some capability to do electronic parking brake systems when you have a car that has a motorized caliper for the rear braking system.This scanner also has some updates that are paid when you click on the mail icon button. I havent purchased it but may come in handy if you need that special function. But why buy it? When you have the capability to go online when you click on the help button to diagnose the code. I wish they had a button for the internet which would be more convenient. This runs on a wifi system. So you do need to have access to wifi for the internet function.Overall a nice compact portable scanner that does more than a standard scanner. Affordable, has cool features, free updates, touch screen, wifi, good enough battery life, has a charging port. Has a built in protective case in case of drops. Also the brand name is launch which is a great trusted company.

Title: My first impressions
Review: Physically, I like it. Large bright touch screen. I got the CRP129X version with the buttons off to the side as well. I also like the rubber shell around the scan tool. I always do my best not to drop or damage my tools, especially electronics, but mistakes happen and the outer rubber shell will help to protect it from shock and vibration.Next, the tool is very easy to use right out of the box. First thing I did after powering it up and connecting to my wifi, was download any updates and firmware upgrades (make sure you have working wifi for any updates/upgrades and some features like e-mailing the health report require it). That process was quick and any issues I had were entirely because of my internet connection, not any fault of the scan tool. I was able to access the ECM, PCM/TCM, SAS and ABS on 2 vehicles, a Nissan Altima and Ford Mustang. I was able to read codes, access plenty of live data, including generic OBD2 data. Being able to see the I/M Readiness monitors status is very helpful. I did NOT try any of the reset functions however, but that will come later. Overall, there are a lot of data PID's and being able to access not only engine DTC's, but transmission, airbags and ABS is why I bought this tool.Having said that, I do have one complaint. On both vehicles, the tool could NOT initially make use of the auto VIN feature. I had to manually enter the VIN for both vehicles. I'm not exactly sure why or what the issue is, but I will investigate and update this review with my findings. It does NOT make the tool unusable by any means, but it is frustrating/annoying to manually enter the VIN every time on every vehicle. So I hope it was just me using a new tool or just a glitch of some kind. I will use it on more vehicles and report back.Update 4/27/19; Quick update, solved the auto VIN detection problem... The problem is with the operator being stupid and not the tool. If you own one of these tools and you're having trouble with the auto VIN, make sure you have the ignition turned to the ON position (engine NOT running). Anyway, so far so good. No complaints. I will continue to use it and test it, and report any issues if I find any.
