The Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector with 10-Year Battery & Digital Display, model C3010D, is a carbon monoxide detector that uses electrochemical sensor technology to detect carbon monoxide. The CO detector is powered by a 10-year lithium battery that never needs replacing, plus protects during a power failure. The Kidde alarm is conveniently designed and portable enough for travel - simply install it on a wall or place it on a tabletop. When carbon monoxide is detected, an 85-decibel alarm will sound & a red LED will flash. A green LED indicates that the alarm is receiving power. And an amber LED indicates when it's time to replace the detector. The test-hush button allows you to test the battery operations as well as temporarily silence the low battery chirp warning. Plus, peak level memory records the last time carbon monoxide was detected or when the unit was last tested. Install a smoke detector & carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home and near bedrooms to help keep your family safe from fire & poisonous gas. UL Certified with a 10-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

Title: Trusted brand
Review: I got this as we have a generator now for power outages due to hurricanes (I live in SE Texas) and everything in the house is electric so I don't have to worry about C02 regularly but if we have to run the generator and it has to be moved due to storms, we'll have something to notify us in case any C02 gets in the house (obviously the generator won't be inside the house running) but if it can't be on the back porch but has to be moved to a (vented & open) garage, we'll be safe from CO2 poisoning. I bought this brand as it's a well known & trusted brand and I wanted something battery operated in case of power outages and not having to worry that the battery isn't working. It installed on the wall easily and we tested it and the initial alarm isn't loud but the secondary alarm is loud (we installed this in our long hallway that bedrooms come off of so it will reverberate off the walls and wake us up in the event of CO2 in the house.

Title: Life-saving!
Review: My mom’s carbon monoxide detector in the middle of her house (dining room) went off earlier this month - same brand as this but an older model (without digital display). We opened windows and the front door and sat by the door. We felt fine and had no symptoms of carbon monoxide affecting us.I checked the detector batteries and they were fine. We got her second detector (same model) from her bedroom and it didn’t alert us of any problem. My husband brought our detector - with a digital display - to her house. It quickly started going up and went to a max of 64, then came down to 38.We called the fire department and they found some scattered elevated carbon monoxide readings, but couldn’t figure out why.We didn’t want to go to a hotel and they didn’t want us to stay there with the gas on. We said we could make it without heat or hot water overnight, so they went outside to turn off the gas. They suggested calling our gas company in the morning to request an appointment for them to check it further with more advanced meters.I decided to call our gas company then (about 2:30am) to leave a message. I explained the situation to an employee who said “We consider this an emergency and will come right now”. AND, “If you have the fire department call us, there won’t be a charge”. I said “Hang on they’re still here!” – then ran outside and had the fire chief talk to her.Two gas company employees arrived a short time later. They checked the house carefully and felt the alarm may have been from cooking soup for about 2&1/2 hours without using the (over-the-stove) microwave vent…They had us open a couple windows and the door again for a half hour and then felt we would be ok staying there. The numbers on my sensor continued to fall and were back to zero before I went to sleep. The fire department and gas company employees checked our detectors and said they should be replaced because of their age. (I had already started researching them!)We narrowed it down to these and a similar Kidde with batteries which we would need to replace. The purchase price difference wasn’t significant and these will probably end up being cheaper since we won’t have to replace the batteries. They’ll also make life easier since we shouldn’t have to worry about them for 10 years! We ordered four for my mom and two for my house. It was easy to install the back piece, which activates the battery. All readings are zero!!I appreciate the constant numerical display, like I’m used to from my old detector. However, mine was a “plug-in” style and the numbers always glowed red, so it was very easy to read. My only negative comment about the new detectors is that the display isn’t backlit and the numbers don’t glow.

Title: Great product from a reliable brand
Review: Purchased this as a replacement for my previous Kidde CO detector that was just over 10 years old and started to emit the "end of life" signal. This unit is small, easy to install, and has a good loud alarm. My experience with other Kidde detectors leads me to believe this will be as reliable and last for 10 years.

Title: Seems to work well, alarm is loud.
Review: I have one unit installed near my hot water heater and HVAC. Test buttons/system works well.Note - as I have no mechanism for actually testing for CO, I can only assume it working as designed.

Title: Trust the Kidde Brand With Your Life
Review: What can I say? Kidde has been making safety devices such as Carbon Monoxide and fire/smoke detectors for a long time. I've had this brand in my home for over 10 years and nearly a decade later it finally met its end of life. When trying to replace this detector, I research countless other models to see if others offered anything that was comparable for a better price. I personally felt that most who bought other name brands found them to be inaccurate. Based upon the negative reviews of these other brands, I replaced my older Kidde with the same brand. What I also like is that they didn't change the design so I was able to take the old one off its wall mount bracket and slide the new one onto the old bracket and it was up and running in a minute (no wall remounting needed). My old product never gave me a false alarm and I'm sure you'll find Kidde should be the go-to brand for your home fire/gas/safety needs. This particular unit has an internal battery that cannot be replaced but last for 7 to 10 years (which coincides with the life span of the detector). Carbon monoxide detectors in general have about a 10 year life before they need to be replaced so battery life is not an issue.
