SEASONED COOKWARE: Seasoning is simply oil baked into the iron, giving it a natural, easy-release finish and helps prevent your pan from rusting. Lodge pre-seasons all cast iron cookware with 100% natural vegetable oil: no synthetic coatings or chemicals. The more you use Lodge the better the seasoning will get!
RUST? DON’T PANIC! IT’S NOT BROKEN: When your pan arrives you may notice a spot that looks like rust. It is simply oil that has not fully carbonized. With regular use and care the spot will disappear. If you do notice rust simply scour the affected area with steel wool, wash with warm water, dry, and rub with vegetable oil.

Review: The finish is rough, but that doesn’t matter, if it’s seasoned correctly it doesn’t stick.It’s heavy, making it an unacceptable choice for juggling.For cooking, the weight is IRON, this make it heat more evenly.“It’s too heavy for cooking!”Maybe for backpacking, where “every ounce counts!”But in my kitchen? Not at all!It's usually empty when I put it on the stove, and empty when I take it off.When I got it, I washed it really good with soap to be sure it was clean and ready to season.I put it in the oven at 350F for 30 minutes.Took it out, wiped it down while hot with lard, all surfaces. Then, “wipe the oil off” with a cloth or paper towel.THEN, I put the skillet back in the oven with a 1/4 cup of lard in it, while I mix the cornbread batter.Once the cornbread batter is mixed, I pour the hot lard into the batter, mix the lard into the batter, and pour the batter into the hot skillet.When done, the cornbread just turns out of this skillet beautifully!It’s an excellent cornbread skillet!😃Now it’s ready for a Christmas present for my daughter Joleen! (Named after the song, deliberately spelled differently.)

Review: Dolly is amazing. Lodge is fantastic. These pans are the best! I got these to give as gifts and they have been very well received. "Take my man just leave the pan, Jolene" was my favorite quote. Two notes: 1) These are small, 8" pans. I'd like a bigger version. 2) Amazon ships them badly. Throwing 3 cast iron pans in a box led to the first shipment being damaged and returned. The second showed up but the shipper clearly added new tape and the box was in baaad shape.

Title: Great Cast Iron Skillet
Review: This is lovely due to it honoring Dolly Parton. She is one of my idols and it is such a classic! It is very heavy and is hard to lift often, so it would be great as a memorabilia piece. Also, there were some stains on the side so I cleaned them but not sure what it was from. Overall, I would say that it is simply for Dolly Parton that I am happy with this skillet as opposed to something that I would use in the kitchen often.

Review: The size is perfect for fried eggs and if used as recommended by Lodge, they don't stick. It would also be the perfect size for a large chocolate chip cookie that's baked in the oven. Lodge is so versatile. Very cute, and of course, well made.
