Title: Great Concept - Execution Subpar at Best
Review: I took a chance on this book and wasted my money. I purchased the book after reading the Table of Contents and thought the combination of recipes is right up my ally. I enjoy trying recipes from other countries or non-traditional recipes and thought this sounded promising.Pros: Assortment of International Cheesecakes as well as an assortment of savory cheesecakesCons: No Pictures, Little or No Editing, Small Batch Recipes, and Questionable Authenticity of International RecipesThe idea of this book is solid. Provide a wide variety of cheesecake recipes that include more than just American Sweet Cheesecake versions. The execution is simply subpar. I could forgive missing pictures since I assume the idea was to keep the cost low. But the extent of editing seemed to be using spell check in Word and that is it. Recipes included incorrect words such as cram (should be cream) and missing volumes (* ounces) where it was clear that they intended to go back and add the amount in later and never did. For the later error, it was even indented so any editor performing a quick scan would notice it was missing.As far as international recipes, simple adding ricotta does not make it Italian. Or adding Greek Yogurt and honey does not necessarily make it a Greek cheesecake. There is much more to cheesecakes from other countries than ingredients.The volume for these recipes are off as well. The instructions state to use a 6” pan but the filling content is not sufficient to even fill the 6”. Cheesecake recipes should be created for an 8” pan as a general rule of thumb and the filling should be sufficient to fillto 3/4 or 1/2 inch below the rim.There is some ok ideas for flavors and crust but nothing real exciting or ground breaking.Over-all I wish that I had passed on this purchase. The only thing this book has going for it is concept and is irrelevant when execution is so miserably inadequate.
