Title: Weirdest cookbook I have ever seen!
Review: I have a collection of over 10,000 cookbooks and I’d have to say this is the strangest one I’ve ever read. The recipes are fine, and I’ve tried several which were very good. It’s the organization that I find so puzzling. There is a section on pies, for example, and one for crisps, then one for crumbles with only two recipes in it. Fine and good. Then there’s a chapter that has breads, cookies, pies, crisps and crumbles, as well as some savory and main dish with meat recipes mixed in. The last chapter has...you guessed it—pies, crisps, crumbles and all sorts of other rhubarb recipes all jumbled together. As I always do, as soon as I received the book I sat down for a couple of hours of pleasant reading. And then confusion. While I found no mistakes in the recipes themselves, there were many in the comments from the author which leads me to believe that she is not a native speaker and should have had someone proof them before printing. Also strange, in the back is an index of ingredients. So if, for example, you want a listing of all recipes using eggs, it’s there. During my reading, I found a recipe for crepes with lemon sauce that I definitely wanted to try. Except I couldn’t find it again. I had to go back through page by page until I found it. If you’re looking for a well-organized cookbook where you can find what you need immediately, this isn’t it.
