Title: As Full-Time Travelers in the USA, We LOVE This Book!
Review: We are huge fans of How to Make An Apple Pie and See the World. We also travel the USA full-time on a Christian music mission and have been to 49 of the 50 states. I wanted our eight kids to have a better grasp on where we were, and thought the younger crowd would really relate to this book and improve their geography at the same time. I was right--toot toot!My son was disappointed that the book has the girl finding supplies instead of food ingredients. True, food ingredients are more fun, but that would have been mostly a repeat of the Apple Pie book, I guess, although that would have worked well also. I knew from the start what it was about, and so I had different expectations which the book met very well.The illustrations are as charming as the Apple Pie book. We love the addition of the dog companion.As a "roadschooler," I appreciate the educational aspect. It truly enlightens a child (and an adult, since many of us are so daft these days) to what it takes to make the kitchen tools we take for granted. The maps included, both with and without the route, are excellent as well.Many complain that it isn't as charming as the Apple Pie book. Well...iron isn't as appealing as apples, true, and wood isn't as delightful as a cow with an English accent. You can't argue with those aspects. We do like the Apple Pie book "better," but we've been reading it for years, so it's a family favorite. Let's just say that we have a VERY limited amount of space for books in our travel trailer full of 10 people, 2 pets, and all the equipment needed to run a homeschool, music mission, and business, and this book has made the cut! It's a winner in and of itself. It's just hard to compete with an over-the-top hit like Apple Pie. So...don't compare! Just enjoy each for what it is!We're soon heading to Door County, Wisconsin to pick cherries to make the pie recipe that Marjorie Priceman so faithfully included in the book. Thanks, Marjorie, for another great growing up memory for our family!

Title: I'm glad it wasn't at the library
Review: I bought this book because it was recommended for my daughter's homeschool curriculum, and it wasn't available at our local library. I had no idea how much our family was going to enjoy this charming story. The intrepid protagonist wants to bake an apple pie, but the market is closed. So she sets off a journey around the world to gather all the best quality ingredients for the perfect apple pie. The illustrations are charming and contain a wealth of details to be noticed in numerous re-readings. The story is told both well and simply, and the twist on the last page is the stuff great picture books are made of.The recipe for apple pie at the end of the book is simple and delicious, and it makes use of all the ingredients gathered in the story.We used the story for a mapping lesson as well charted the protagonist's journey on our world map on the wall. We used it for a cooking lesson. We used it for a science lesson (how are sugar and butter made, and how is salt retrieved from sea water.) We used it to have fun story time together, and that was the best of all.Now I am glad the library didn't have it. Having purchased it, I anticipate my family enjoying it for years to come.

Title: Delightful story with a recipe!
Review: This is a FABULOUS book! The premise is the main character wants to make an apple pie but the local grocery is closed. So she packs her bags and travels to key countries to get the various ingredients. It's delightful as a story, it can be used to talk about geography, and it includes a recipe at the end of the book! The story is short and has great drawings so it would be good to read to young kids.

Title: Wonderful way to introduce Social Studies!
Review: We had a great time homeschooling our grandchildren while schools were closed. We did a fun trip around the world based on this book and could have easily spent weeks exploring each location mentioned in the book. We printed out passports and had them "check in" each morning with a ticket and their passport to a new location. What a fun time and I think its something they will remember!

Mi hijo se queda embobado fijándose en pequeños detalles, y le encanta el final, cuando ya reunidos todos los ingredientes y preparado el pastel, queda un pequeño obstáculo que resolver.
