A laugh-out-loud, slice-of-life martial-arts fantasy about...farming????

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body.

Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here.

Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster. I’m not used to seeing a chicken move with such grace...but Qi makes everything kind of wonky, so it’s probably fine.

Instead of a lifetime of battle, my biggest concerns are building a house, the size of my harvest, and the way the girl from the nearby village glares at me when I tease her.

A slow, simple, fulfilling life in a place where nothing exciting or out of the ordinary ever happens...right?

The first volume of the blockbuster progression-fantasy series—with more than 16 million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Title: New favorite series
Review: Casual Farmer uses an utterly delightful blend of laugh-out-loud humor, character development, down-to-earth philosophy, mystery, humor, romance, martial arts drama, healing friendships, and did I mention humor? It has satisfying substance and complexity, but I still consider it a light read--very refreshing after reading too many gritty urban novels.I've read all three books in the series twice so far and started re-reading the first aloud to my mother-in-law when she came to visit. . . . though I censored the cussing. The cussing is really the only part I dislike about this series. I do wish either that Amazon let users blackout unmentionables, or the author chose politer words for "scum and villainy." However, if you can look past some swearing, I highly recommend reading this! I look forward to the next installment!

Title: Awesome book
Review: This book is amazingly well written. The characters seem real, conversations don't sound fabricated. It's a wonderful cultivation story. Just an affection to keep it interesting, but enough real interaction between the characters to make it let's see m like a situation that you would wish to be.

Title: Fun and joyful and highly recommended
Review: Finally decided to read this because of all the recommendations on Royal Road and elsewhere and wow - loved it. This story is much better than 98% slice of life and xanxia cultivation stories in my eyes because (a) the characters goals and intentions are 1000% better and actually make sense, lol, (b) in amidst the silliness and fun are some deep and powerful truths delivered in a gentle and mostly light hearted way, (c) I enjoy silliness and light-hearted fun, lol, (d) completely refutes the pretentious posturing, overblown egos and amorality that pollute most xanxia, and (e) highlights some of the conceptual errors and idiocy in the extreme tropes of "right is might", "survival of the fittest" and "defy the heavens" in most xanxia and litrpg. I rarely give 5 stars, but this book earned them. Not that the book is perfect; prose is good but not outstanding and there is a lot of unnecessary use of the "f" word. The brilliance here is in the story and the vision and the joyful light-hearted way they are conveyed.

Title: fun and cozy
Review: Just enjoy the book. Nothing incredible, but it is super cute and easy to read. Just don’t get too caught up in the length… enjoy the journey not the destination

Title: Mr. Miyagi meets Old MacDonald! One of the best LitRPGs of all time!!!
Review: Like the title says, it's a cultivator story about a man from Earth re-incarnated into the body of a cultivator on another xianxia (cultivation-based) planet that is vaguely reminescent of medieval China. He flees the corrupt cultivation sect his host body belonged to (the "other guy" was accidentally beat to death by the golden boy of the clan) to become a farmer in the most remote location he can find. His desire to live a quiet life, away from the constant drive for power that most cultivators pursue, wins him some amazing friends, and intriguing enemies. His farm animals actually start to develop cultivator abilities, and have hilarious anime-inspired monologues, but that's not what I love best about this series. I love this author, and this story, because the main character finds power in virtue. Not in trampling other people's lives, stealing all their treasure, killing everything in sight, and taking everything he can get his hands on. He seeks to live a quiet virtuous life, works hard to improve the lives of his neighbors, and live like a decent person, and power flows to him naturally, of his own accord, without any compulsory means. This book restates something our society has lost: that influence can be won by virtue, through the respect others give you because they know that you will love, support, and care for them. And it is not preachy, or overstated. Just a simple guy with his HILARIOUS farm animals trying to carve out a farm on the edge of civilization who, unsurprisingly, finds himself surrounded by ever more competent and caring people who are drawn to his optimism, strong work ethic, and respect for the needs of others. Super fun, great plot pacing, hilarious jokes! Can't recommend this enough! Stop reading this review, and go download it! I preferred the Audible version, as the narrative did a top notch job!!!

Title: Don't judge this book by its cover (or title)
Review: This ebook has been in my suggestions for a while. I kept skipping over it because -- well -- it looked silly. I was grabbing stuff from Prime Reading to read and -- based on the reviews -- finally grabbed this.If you enjoy "reborn" stories -- or kung fu movies -- or intelligent storytelling -- or ... you know what? Just read it. If you have Prime, the first one is free.I enjoyed this so much that I paid for it -- and #2 -- and #3 -- and I've preordered #4.Honestly, I can't think of anything I don't love about this thing. It's funny, smart, sensible, enjoyable, hard-to-put-down ... everything! You will not regret giving this book a try.

Title: Not your typical Xianxia
Review: First off, I absolutely DESPISE xianxias. They're always so dumb because the only thing that keeps the plot moving forward is the concept of "honor"to the point of destruction. "You dishonored my 14th cousin by looking at him funny? Bloodfeud until your entire family line is erased". So stupid. This is not that. It's a light hearted slice of life cultivation story set in a world with xianxia elements. As in the protagonist lives in a world where that stupid trope lives, and wants nothing to do with it. The story is light hearted, fun, and funny. The protagonist is a goofball that wants to have fun and is trying to live his best life and has a positive impact on the people and animal around him. It's a very fun read, and several parts of this book have made me grin like an idiot. There's some combat, some romance, and a lot of puns and goofiness. Highly recommended if you enjoy a fun read without all the blood and morose topics.

Review: Seventy year old retired teacher here! I live with grandkids so although I was not familiar specifically with the Xianxia Cultivation genre, I am definitely familiar with the fantasy genre and anime. Only sharing this as I feel this book could be read and enjoyed by anyone! The imagination and creativity just blew me away. I adore the humour and the characters as well as the nods to Canada.I have Kindle Unlimited and I read many genres and many books. I rarely buy them. Immediately after finishing this book, I bought it and volume 2 as well. I plan to recommend it to all three generations of my family and extended family. As I was reading, I thought to myself that the author must be a teacher or familiar with those that require specialized learning programs. I was astounded to see in the writers bio that they were planning to teach! Please do! And please keep on writing. I love your work and I probably have about 20 more years to enjoy it!
