Title: The daily menus are relatively easy to follow
Review: While I have not read the entire book, I did thumb through the pages. The daily menus are relatively easy to follow. The ingredients for the recipes are easy to find at my local market. The book also has a lot of good information on avoiding and improving certain health issues as cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure. I especially like the fact that it allows you to have dairy, beans and wine. I feel as if this is a plan I might be able to live with.

Title: Great recipes but meal plans are incomplete
Review: This book has really clear information about the diet itself, and the recipes are wonderful. However, be aware that the "meal plans" are really just a skeleton of your day - they do not include side dishes or vegetables or fruits. If you stick to the meal plans as they are written you will be eating only around 600 - 1000 calories per day and you will not be getting the fiber that you need! I wish the author had thought to tell the reader how many calories per day are recommended, and had included suggested side dishes with the main dinner menu.

Review: Susan did it again! This book is a great resource filled with recipes for any one from the novice to the expert cook. I love how it is based on her background and childhood experiences, and that she is registered dietitian! Mediterranean diet is a great way for any one to develop a healthy lifestyle which is the key to living a long healthy life. Forget those fad unrealistic diets and try this book- you won't be sorry!

Title: So now I know
Review: OI was told by medical person to follow this diet in effort to improve my blood test. It is high and low in certain common areas. I have not actually tried it. Doubt I can. Some of words are so strange to me. I am an adopted son of the south. You want me give up grits for polenta? Don't thinks so. I will do more olive oil and fish. Fresh fruit and salad almost unknown in my current eating. At least now I will know I am killingmyself

Title: Recipes Look Good, But Meal Plans Are Very Skimpy.
Review: Part One of the book explains the diet, and it is very repetitive. Lists foods of the Mediterranean diet over and over. Says that couscous is a whole grain. The 4 week plans are extremely skimpy...barley porridge for breakfast (looks pretty good, with fruits and nuts, but calls for almond milk, not a traditional mediterranean beverage), cucumber and yogurt salad for lunch (the only protein comes from a measly 2 ounce portion of the yogurt), and beef patties (with spices) for supper, no mention of any vegetables or side dishes to go with this. A few snacks are suggested, yogurt and fruit, raw vegetables, crackers, and the ubiquitous kale chips. Meal plans seem very low in protein, and as written, would be hard to stick to. I think you would starve. Recipes look good, though.

Review: Marketed as Heart Healthy but full of high starch, high cholesterol ingredients cardiologists warn against eating. Maybe these meals accurately reflect Mediterranean cooking, but other than the vegetarian menus, not all that heart friendly. Recipes often call for exotic ingredients not commonly found in neighborhood grocery stores. Overall may be fine for adding variety to meals but not the book for heart health.

Title: Tasty and Fairly Easy But Not Particularly Mediterranean
Review: These recipes are fairly straight-forward to prepare and overall pretty tasty. Many of them, however, don’t seem particularly Mediterranean. My go-to cookbook for Mediterranean is “The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook” by America’s Test Kitchen. The recipes in the ATK cookbook will be more time-consuming to prepare but feel much more authentic. Nevertheless, we’ve enjoyed most of the recipes I’ve tried, so I’ve given it four stars.
