Pecking Order’s Nest Box Pads are made from Great Lakes Aspen excelsior wood fibers adhered to a kraft paper backing. The excelsior fibers allow wet droppings to settle down and away from the hen and her eggs. The freshly laid eggs remain on top, not buried, so eggs are easier to gather. The 13” x 13” pads fit inside most chicken nest boxes and make cleaning the next box faster and easier than with pine shavings, straw, or sand.

Title: Great for chicken coops.
Review: I have debated to buy these nesting pads for a while. I have used hay and pine shavings in the past. I bought these nesting pads and discovered that clean up is much easier and it all comes out of the nesting boxes with ease. They are a perfect fit for my boxes which are 12x12 inches. They appear to be durable and I replace them every month unless they need it before. There is no smell when they are new. Great product and at a good price.

Title: Hens love these
Review: Until buying these I used shaving in my nest boxes (same as my coop). Whenever is open the side of the nest boxes shavings would fall out and get in the way of closing the side back up. These work perfect and I don’t have that problem. I’ve had the first ones in the nest boxes for about a month now and they are still clean so they will last a long time! For reference I have 3 boxes and 8 hens.

Title: GAME CHANGER!!!
Review: These nest box pads are a million times easier and faster and cleaner to work with for lining nest boxes than hay. Easy fill, warmth adder, easy removal and quick change-out. What more could any chicken or chicken owner ask for? The boxes are 11 by 14 (standard prefab chicken kit-house size) and these fit well. These nesting box pads go up on the sides a bit, making it fit in a more nest-like way, while still leaving plenty of room.Our hen house has a line of three nest boxes and the hens normally lay in the outer two boxes. On the first trial, I placed a liner in each of the outer two nest boxes where they usually lay eggs. The next morning a couple hens were running around hollering and quite bothered by the "new things". Two eggs were layed that morning, both in the middle box where I didn't put a nest box pad. After gathering those eggs, I placed a third nest pad in the middle section, hoping the chickens wouldn't suddenly start laying elsewhere. Was not sure what to expect. Next day there were eggs. On the nest pads. They got over their irritation and confusion quite quickly and there were no problems on day two. The hens had fluffed the material up a bit. The eggs came out of the boxes beautiful, clean and free of cracks. There is some kind of light slick paper-liner that holds the material of the mat together and changing them out is a snap! (Not that it will need to be done frequently.)If you have a prefab chicken house and normally use hay on the floor of it these work really well for that, too. We had installed them right before a sudden super-cold snap. Thank goodness we had those in there for that. What peace of mind.We will definitely be using these from now on. Honestly, this one is a pretty big game changer for laying hens (and their owners).If you are considering these and have yet to try them, try them, you will love how much easier it makes that aspect of chicken care.

Review: Make cleaning a lot easier. The paper backing does kind of fall off if you let them sit for too long so maybe replace them more often. Fit in boxes perfectly.

Title: Expensive but excellent
Review: They are the perfect size for our nesting boxes. They are great for keeping the eggs in tact and clean. You can fluff them up a bit to make them thicker if you want, which provides more safety for the eggs and more comfort for the hens. Great overall, I just wish they were cheaper because they have to be changed out often (our 6 month Olds still sleep in the nesting boxes lol)

Review: I have used these a few times and I love them. Easy to put in and easy to clean because it stays mostly intact. So much better than pine straw. They have these at a store near me but these are way cheaper

Title: Well made but my chickens don't like them
Review: These nest pads are nice and well made, but my hens refuse to even go in the nest boxes with these in there. They chose to lay eggs on the floor of the coop in the pine shavings instead. As soon as I removed these nest pads and put pine shavings in the nest boxes, the hens are now laying in the nest boxes.
