Title: Highly recommend! Great for making gifts AND makes a great gift!
Review: When I get a new cookbook, I know I love it if I sit down and read it cover to cover without skipping around or just using the index in the back. Well, "Homemade Condiments" is a winner! Itâs a beautiful book with easy to follow recipes and lots of extra, helpful hints that are missing from so many other cookbooks.I sought out this book to learn how to make homemade ketchups and mustards as part of my effort to feed our household more healthfully and avoid bottled items at the grocery that are full of impossible-to-pronounce ingredients. The best news is that this cookbook taught me so much more! Ms. Harlanâs recipes have helped expand my salad dressing repertoire along with sauces to accompany chicken, fish and steak, mayo from scratch (which Iâve always found intimidating until now) and the ultimate ginger dressing.I also love that Ms. Harlan gives quick, smart tips at the start of each recipe. For instance, when talking about making half of a basic mayo recipe, she lets you know, âIf you donât have a ½ tablespoon measuring spoon, half of 1 tablespoon is 1 ½ teaspoons.â I love cookbooks that arm you with little factoids that can be applied to any cooking situation. And the âUse It Forâ section under each recipe is a great place to get culinary inspiration for everything from a weeknight dinner idea to the next time youâre throwing a dinner party.Iâm so excited I bought this cookbook now. The cover photos, pictures throughout and detailed, easy-to-follow recipes are going to produce great Christmas gifts. And I canât wait to pair my concoctions with a copy of the book for friends, family and teachers. Highly recommend! Buy one for yourself and one for a friend who loves to cook or just loves to own beautiful cookbooks!

Title: making condiments at home
Review: An unpretentious little book which is very straightforward and teaches you how to make diferent condiments often used at home. I have tried a few recipes and they do work quite well. The ingredients can be found anywhere, the recipes leave room for creativity either increasing or decreasing and even introducing other ingredients and the instructions are very easy to follow. It has a nice size, pretty binding and it is well illustrated and one can even consider it as a Christmas or birthday gift to someone interested in making his/hers own condiments. I do recommend it highly

Title: Avocado Goddess Dressing = Yum!
Review: I purchased this book because I've been trying to reduce the amount of processed foods we eat in our house. We've made strides towards a diet centered around whole foods but It's hard to sacrifice my favorite (high-fructose-corn-syrup-laden) condiments! This book has all the basics covered--ketchup, mustard, etc.--but then there are surprises too. Like the Cilantro-almond pesto. (Yum!)I was expecting to use this book just to make the staples but I find myself turning to it for inspiration too. Like a recipe sounds so good I end up planning a meal around it.I also appreciate that the instructions are very clear and every recipe has a sidebar with suggestions on what to serve it with. And I really, really like the extensive appendix about canning. That's something I've wanted to try for a long time and this book lays out all the how-tos.And this sweet little book is very pretty to look at. :)This is definitely not going to be collecting dust. Love it!

Title: I am a "sucker" for cool sounding combinations (lavendar whole grain mustard
Review: I have always been a big fan of condiments. I am a "sucker" for cool sounding combinations (lavendar whole grain mustard, anyone?) and love to use condiments in any number of recipes. Having this cookbook, which includes a variety of sauces, relishes, mustards, ketchups, and other useful condiments has been a boon. I love to cook, so being able to add something new (condiment-making) to try has been fun. In addition, I control the ingredients, so instead of processed chemical-laden products, I am able to control what goes into each condiment. The pictures are lovely and have inspired some homemade gift-giving. Jessica Harlan consistently scores with her recipes, photography, and writing!
