Title: A Perfect Beginner's Cookbook for Vegans and Food Allergies
Review: "I am not vegan, I just eat like one" I quip to people after I excitedly tell them the cookie they just stuffed in their mouth is %100 vegan.Growing up with food allergies can be a nightmare. But lucky for me, the vegan diet is allergy free! And sometimes you just really want to make some flippin' cookies.I borrowed this book three times from the online library before I finally told myself "Just buy it." The recipes in here are clear, easy to follow and TRUE pantry staples. A problem I have with many vegan cookbooks is they claim to use ingredients easily found in the pantry, but they aren't even ingredients easily found at the grocery store! Or their ingredients are crazy expensive. This book starts with an explanation of vegan cooking, easy everyday vegan substitutes that don't compromise quality, and a few troubleshooting tips. There are no pictures, so you won't know what your endgame is supposed to look like, but these recipes are so simple and easy to follow that anyone with a basic baking knowledge can follow them flawlessly.I purchased this book used, but it arrived in near-new condition (Did you even use it, previous owner? You're missing out!) and it arrived promptly and undamaged though I was worried when I saw it was bagged and not boxed for shipment.

Title: Wow! I don't even bake but this book has made me a baker for life
Review: I picked up this book for its whimsical cover. I am guilty of judging a cookbook by its cover! OK who doesn't? I was sold in the first pages. This book gives you baking tips, vegan equivalents to many things, a tutorial on how to use the book, etc. She doesn't just throw you to the sharks! Her thorough explanations make it super easy for the non-baking gal like me and for even kids to use! See pages 141 for the start of children's recipes.OK so if I had to pick one recipe that sticks out, b/c honestly they ALL do, I would select the Choco-Chai coffee cake. Rated 2 whisks (check out her super cool rating system using whisks!), I knew this recipe was for me! All of her recipes do not require exotic ingredients yet the results taste like they are out of this world! In approx. one hour, I had a delish, moist crumbly cake that I didn't want to share with my coworkers but caved since everyone needed to taste this delish, easy to make cake. Plus I wanted to show my super carnivorous coworkers that vegan cakes CAN be moist without the cruel use of factory farmed eggs and milk.I was so impressed with this book that I ordered 4 more copies via Amazon.com and have been giving them out for birthdays. Everyone has been super satisfied with the books and our tummies are singing happy songs to the delish food Kris has created for us.

Title: MMMMM
Review: I am new to the vegan thing, and even new to baking so I figured this book would aid me in my transition and it has. I have had a few "mistakes" but as a whole the recipes are great especially the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. A must have in any library.

Title: Great Cookbook! Everything I've Tried Has Been Delish!
Review: This is a fantastic vegan baking cookbook! You would never believe that these recipes don't have dairy, eggs, or butter. It's enough to make you wonder why you would ever bake with those things? Now, this is definitely not health food but these are fantastic treats that you can feel good about eating. Everything I've made from this cookbook has been wonderful. The Saucy Apple Bread and the Pumpkin Cinn-A-Zag Bread are great breakfast treats. The chocolate-vanilla swirl bundt cake is delicious--I brought it to a potluck at work and no one could tell it was vegan. This cookbook makes vegan baking accessible and proves that it can be just as delicious as "conventional" baking.

Title: Creative yet simple!!
Review: This is the baking book I have been waiting for! I own so many vegan books, and I am an avid baker, and this book has great potential to be my new favorite ! I have already bookmarked half the book for 'to try recipes'!! Even my non-vegan friend read through my copy and was oohing and ahhing at every recipeThis has a fantastic variety of recipes: muffins, cookies, bars, cakes, pastries, yeasted breads etc. It even has a section for easy bake ovens for kids!! Too cool. Although I don't own an easy bake oven, I want one now just to try these super cute recipesTo me, this book is a perfect balance of creativity and simplicity. Meaning the recipes are simple to prepare, ingredients are not too wacky at all, yet the recipes are still exciting and they have cute perky names! 😀 Flavor combinations are definitely interestingI have already tried 3 recipes after getting the book yesterday! Everything turned out great! Most recipes are based on soy yogurt (at least the cakey/quick bread recipes).I really like this book and I plan to try almost everything!! I can't wait!Only critique is that some pictures here and there would be nice!

Title: Loved This for Years
Review: These recipes are all easy to make--subbing ingredients works well, too, as long as you're familiar with what you're doing--and great to have kids help in the kitchen. When it's rainy, as it was yesterday, I will give this book to my kids in the afternoon and ask then to pick something they want to make.

Review: Searching through the many vegetarian and vegan cookbooks on Amazon, it was hard to know whether there was much difference between them (having not bought a vegan cookbook before). I wanted to focus on baking and by purchasing this book, that's what I got. With trepidation, I created my first batch of "French Toast Muffins" thinking that the author's claims about her vegan baking not producing "unappetizing brown blobs" might be inflated. I'm pleased to say that they turned out very well and tasted fantastic. Even my 11 year old devoured half of them. While this is an American cookbook, it's mostly easy to make conversions for the UK. The oven temperatures are easy enough, but it's ingredients like applesauce and molasses you might have to look around for (or use a replacement). There are hardly any "weird health-food shop" ingredients which means you can normally start baking straight away. The measurements in the book are all in cups and spoons which is not normally how we bake in the UK, but I actually found it easy to follow and even not being super-precise, my muffins turned out great. There is an excellent introduction where the author explains the key ingredients needed to produce various baked goods - I actually found that this de-mystified non-vegan as well as vegan baking for me! The book makes it seem easy to cook without eggs (one of the major reasons I wanted to own a vegan cookbook, even though I'm vegetarian myself and not vegan) and you can use various types of both flour and milk in the recipes (she rarely specifies a particular type, but there is some good tips in the beginning about replacements). There is a good variety of different types of baked goods here with varying degrees of difficulty. There aren't any pictures, but that has never really bothered me. The recipes are clear and easy to read.Note that the author also makes a valid point about vegan baking not necessarily being "healthy". Many of the recipes contain sugar or other sugar replacements and almost all of them contain 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of oil. If you are trying to be low fat - this probably won't be the best recipe book to try it with.Recommended for anyone who would like to try baking when they don't have any eggs in the house or a vegan with a flair for baking. I'm trying the best banana bread this afternoon 🙂
