What do Abraham Lincoln, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Louis Pasteur, Frederick Douglass, Florence Nightingale, and John D. Rockefeller Sr. all have in common? They all changed the world--and they were all Christians. Now the little-known stories of faith behind twelve influential people of history are available in one inspiring volume.
They Were Christians reveals the faith-filled motivations behind some of the most outstanding political, scientific, and humanitarian contributions of history. From the founding of the Red Cross to the family crisis that drove America's favorite president to his knees and cracked his religious skepticism, the fascinating stories of these faithful history-makers will inspire, encourage, and entertain readers of history and biography.

Title: Fascinating and inspiring read
Review: This book is a fascinating read into the lives and contributions of famous individuals, Christians, who changed the course of history. Whereas I was familiar with the contributions of many of the individuals, I was unaware of their underlying faith and motivation. There were others I knew nothing about, notably Chiune Sugihara, who as the Japanese consular officer in Lithuania during WWII, managed to save over 2,000 Jews. The chapters on Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and Chiune Sugihara were particularly moving, as these men consistently sought God to guide and govern their actions in times of crisis. But this is not just an anthology of discrete biographical accounts. Each history is linked with the personal journey of faith of the author, Cristóbol Krusen, In the introduction of each chapter Cristóbol describes an episode from his own life, develops the theme, and seamlessly relates it to the history that follows. At the conclusion of each chapter he invites us to reflect on the faith and works of this individual, effectively challenging us to carry on his or her legacy. The interweaving of Cristóbol's personal journey with the lives of these well-known individuals enriches the book and helps inspire us, the readers.I highly recommend this book.

Title: Inspiring and infirmative
Review: I selected this book, without reading it first, for our Book Club. What a fantastic choice!!! No disappointments here. Many people I thought I knew, but after reading the biographies, I either had no idea they were Christians or I didn't realize how their faith guided their lives and achievements. The biographies were well written and easy to follow along. I liked how the author wove some of his life story along with the biographies.P.S. Book Club loved this book. We had lots to discuss.

Title: Christians have changed the world for the better
Review: Excellent collection of biographies of famous and not so famous movers and shakers who were led by their Christian faith. If anyone thinks Christians are losers, I direct them to this book to find out about those who have taken their Christian faith and put it into action! Very well written and a delight to read.

Title: Good book
Review: This book is so good but is a few pages for to tell about each person and then is not possible to know more for each one of them.

Title: Living as you believe.
Review: Very interesting background stories of men and women who were greatly influenced by the Bible. Most of these celebrated persons were not known as âChristiansâ, but lived for the betterment of humanity and their world.
