Title: I love how the inn's name ties in with the cooking school Forensics Culinary, which takes the mystery out of cooking
Review: This was a good little mystery with some twists and turns along the way so I didn't actually guess the killer until the clues started popping up towards the end. The characters were funny, quirky and for the most part likable. Rene was an absolute hoot! And I did like the idea of an established relationship between main sleuth and granddaughter to Liddy Lou, Q'Bita, and Andy, the town's sheriff, which was tested to the max when Q's grandma, Liddy Lou was arrested for murdering a cooking show diva who had stolen Liddy's recipes. If a relationship can survive all that turmoil, it seems destined to last! The author definitely has a knack for bringing characters to life. The main mystery was solved but now I'm intrigued by the very very ending which hints of something ongoing but not in West Virginia where this is set. Liddy's famous cinnamon bun recipe (sans poison of course!) is at the end of the book and it sure sounds amazing because cinnamon buns are one of my favorite pastries. Till next time, Castle Creek!

Title: Great characters (and food)
Review: Food and cozy mysteries go so well together. As soon as I saw this series, I knew I needed to give it a go.As the title suggests, cinnamon buns are the culprit in this book. But how and why, and who was behind them? When Liddy Lou is named the prime suspect, it's up to her granddaughter Q'Bita to solve the murder of Macie Dixon. She's not alone, however, having her boyfriend (who happens to be a sheriff) and friends by her side. This book has a great bunch of characters, a twisty mystery, family drama, and of course food. Charming and quirky, it's a fun read. I also love seeing recipes in the back of a book like this! A great touch.

Title: Great story with the bonus of a yummy recipe!
Review: I am a fan of murder mysteries and was looking forward to reading Sinister Cinnamon Buns. I was not disappointed in the slightest. Good character development, fun story setting, and a nice collection of interesting supporting cast. AND, I didn't guess who did it! I look forward to future installments of stories from the Red Herring Inn.

Title: Must have been paid by the word. Why use 3 when 10 will do?
Review: I have to wonder if the person who wrote this was paid by the word. If something could be said in 3 words, 10 were used. There are entire chapters that have NOTHING to do with the story. One chapter is all about a cat and an herb garden. The cat nor the herbs had anything to do with the murders, the victims, or the solution.Way too wordy with words that have nothing to do with furthering the plot. Too many irrelevant details. The only way to tolerate this was to read 3 words every two paragraphs. When I got to the last 30 minutes of the book (kindle edition), I thought it would be time to read every word. But it wasn't. I only needed to read almost every word on a few pages and not miss anything. The ending 2 pages were a complete head-scratcher. It's supposed to set it up for the next book but really, suddenly a French connection that wasn't in the book at all is supposed to entice me to read more? Sorry, I won't be reading more of this author unless someone tells me she got an editor that cuts out all the unnecessary parts.Oh, there is a recipe in the back for the cinnamon rolls. But she uses an odd spice mix I have never heard of or seen in any store. While she does tell you what is in it, she doesn't tell you how to make the mix yourself. I've also never seen the technique of mixing the yeast into the flour instead of into the warm wet ingredients. I will give it a try anyway - after I google that spice mix and figure out how to make it.

Title: This book deserves two whole hands up!!
Review: Wow! What a story. It was intriguing, captivating and a real thriller. Macie was a piece of work. There were times when I felt drawn in and could feel the tension at different parts in the story. Then there were times I laughed, and times I felt sorry for some of the characters. It was a great story line and well-written. I could see this as a Lifetime movie.

Title: Rene is a Hoot!
Review: J Lee Mitchell kept me guessing until close to the end who hated the victim the most to murder them. I am hoping the relationship with Q'Bita and Andy survives on into future books. Great setting, the Inn sounds like a place I'd love to visit. Fun characters that help make the story. All in all an easy, enjoyable read.Made the Cinnamon Bun recipe at the end of the book - easy and delicious!!

Title:
Review: A feud over family recipes, long lost daughters and a conflicted sheriff come together in this cozy mystery. A lively group of characters make up the cast of "Sinister Cinnamon Buns" and Mitchell does a great job of weaving them throughout an engaging plot. With a gift for the witty comeback and some crazy antics, Mitchell’s writing makes the characters come to life. As is standard with any cozy mystery, this one contains numerous references to food and drink (I was always wanting some sweet tea during the reading) with cinnamon buns (obviously) playing a key role. "Sinister Cinnamon Buns" is a must read for cozy mystery lovers

Review: A bit disappointing, this one. It started out well, with an interesting food thread throughout, but there were too many characters and it was difficult to tell whose story it was as the point of view kept changing.

Title:
Review: A great cozy mystery story that keeps you guessing who the villain is. When Red Herring Inn's competitor steals their recipes, it's time to investigate. Especially when people begin to die. Into this plot is thrown tidbits of humor, a romance or two, and drool worthy mentions of delicious food, especially pie.
