ABOUT JOSHUA CATANIA: Joshua Catania started playing the piano at age 5 and began writing his own music soon after. Starting with classical music, he gained a foundation in technique, expression, reading, and composition that equipped him well for his later musical exploration. Influenced by his father, Joshua grew interested in jazz music and began improvising at an early age. Through his teenage years, Joshua kept busy performing at jazz clubs, churches, musical theater stages, and orchestral halls around his home state of Wisconsin. As a high school senior, he released his debut album, Open to Now, to critical acclaim from USA Today, Something Else!, and Midwest Record, among others.
Joshua chose to further his education at the University of Michigan, where he studied jazz piano with Juno award-winning pianist Andy Milne. Alongside his studies, Joshua performed actively in the Detroit area and collaborated with peers across disciplines in classical piano, dance, and film to record and perform several original works. While in college, Joshua also became interested in piano tuning and repair, studying independently with Robert Grijalva, professor of Piano Technology.
A recent graduate, Joshua continues to perform and compose, as well as teach out of his studio in Hartford, Connecticut. For the last 8 years, he has taught beginner, intermediate, and jazz piano students. In addition to his creative work, Joshua continues his study of piano technology as an apprentice at a local piano tuning and restoration company.

Title: Depends on what ur looking for
Review: Honestly, when I purchased this I did not expect to find a solo melody line with chords written above it (like guitar tab music). If youâre trying to get your students to read âcheatâ chords quickly then this is the book for you! If you want to have music with a little more gravitas, I would keep looking.

Title: Arrangements are not good. They are well-known pieces but itâs hard to tell what they are.
Review: I liked the idea of multiple levels of difficulty and the included pieces are all well known. I bought this book for my piano student, a beginning adult. Neither he nor I felt the arrangements actually sounded like the pieces. And for being simplified, they are overly complicated, distracting from their famous melodies. While my student could play only the easier versions, I was able to play all versions but I, too, found the pieces not to sound like the standard versions Iâve known all my life. The arrangements were just not good and not fun to play. After being unhappy with the first four songs, we decided to abandon the book.

Review: This book had several levels for each song but I played everyone of the levels and didnât like any of the the arrangements. All sounded very much for children. Iâm hoping I can return this book. You may enjoy it, itâs presented well.

Review: Nicely printed but book will not stay open on music stand. Nice idea to have lead sheet plus two arrangements but will not be a favourite unfortunately.
