Title: Prosumer perfect
Review: I have recently started coding again after almost 15years of other activities and needed a nas for hy new home office. This little monster fits the use case perfectly! Filled it with 4tb drives and i was off to the races, the build and operation process are well documented through unraid document sources and the hardware is flawless. The only negative i can find to point out is i had to cover the lower front face to hide the attractive but tacky front light, â¦..my wifeâs fashion eye couldnât take it.

Title: Seamless and Quiet - Perfect for My First NAS!
Review: I recently purchased the Lincplus Lincstation N1 NAS and I must say, it's a game-changer for my home lab setup! Right out of the box, this NAS was ready to go - truly turnkey with no complex setup needed. The silent operation is incredible; I can barely tell it's running even when it's working hard. The 16GB of memory is more than sufficient for my needs, handling all my data management tasks smoothly.I've been using the included UnRAID software, and although there's a bit of a learning curve, it's been manageable and ultimately rewarding to get everything configured just right. The design is sleek and the unit is surprisingly portable, making it a great fit in my limited space. While I do wish for a bit more flexibility with the connectivity options, as the single 2.5GbE port can feel a bit limiting, it's a small gripe in what has been an otherwise excellent experience. The WiFi 6 and Bluetooth support are nice touches that add to its value. All in all, I'm thrilled with the Lincstation N1. It's an attractive, powerful NAS that didn't break the bank or require an IT degree to set up. Perfect for someone like me, diving into the world of private server ownership!

Title: Follow up review
Review: This is a follow up review. After several days of attempting to get this NAS to function I gave up and sent it back to Amazon. Here are the issues I would alert future user to:1) It comes with a 30 day eval license. The unit is essentially inert until you load the license. Evidently you need to buy a license for operation beyond the 30 days. I never even got that far since to use the 30 day license you also need to create a so called âUNRAIDâ account. I tried a number of times, but the web portal would tell me either I entered the wrong password or that the account I was trying to create already existed. At this point in the process, I discovered if you want to talk to their tech support you have to buy a consulting contract. The consequence here is that I was never able to license this UNRAID application so the device never could function as a NAS.2) Another problem I was having was that the power ON button did not work reliably. To get the unit to power up it seemed to need some combination of repeatedly pressing/releasing the power button while simultaneously disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. This is probably a case where the reset logic input to the units CPU isnât working.3) There is no PDF version of the user manual for this device. The manual is online, but itâs presented in lots of little segments. It would seem this was done so that you canât just copy the whole thing into Word, then save it locally.4) I suppose I would be writing a different review if this thing would have powered up smoothly, and I could have gotten the UNRAID license to install. Maybe the $249 annual consulting contract from the URAID company would have solved those problems. As is I spent $399 on the LincStation and $360 on NVMe sticks and just didnât want to send any more money down this rat hole. As I write this review, the LincStation is on its way back to Amazon.5) Let me finish on a high note, mechanically the LincStation looks well made, all precision aluminum and plastic castings. Well thought out cooling and secure mounting for its NVMe sticks and its two SSD drives. Itâs a nice compact fan free nice looking package.

Title: Buyer's Remorse - mostly related to Unraid
Review: Revised review after a few weeks of use. Added a star.Hardware: 4/5Software: 3/5Licensing: 1/5Summary: I like the unit, but it's not really well suited for Unraid because it doesn't capitalize on the strengths of Unraid. With the licensing change, a lot of value is lost. Had a problem with the cpu constantly pegging at 90C with just a couple apps running, which required Auto Fan Control app and trial and error. Requires a lot of tweaking and is just not nearly as user friendly for a beginner as Synology.I plan to move this USB and Unraid license to an old desktop to build my own NAS and install TrueNas on the lincstation when Electric Eel is released. This was a bit of an impulse purchase and I really knew very little about Unraid before buying this unit except it's pretty well liked by users and touted as one of the most user-friendly systems with a helpful community. They recently changed their licensing to a subscription. The Lincplus manufacturer website and every single review I found on social media - including all published after I bought this unit - stated this unit includes an Unraid Basic license. "Basic" is a legacy license for 6 drives with lifetime updates. I saw that as a value add. However, the activation code included with my unit is for Unraid Starter, which is worth $49 and requires a $36 annual payment for updates. Hence, when you activate this license, you are to be billed annually unless you cancel. You can utilize the license without updates, but only on that major release. I contacted the manufacturer for clarification and the response was "Sorry not sorry." They since updated their website.I never used Unraid, but have experience with Synology, Linux, and Windows environments. As of this review (and after I bought this thing) I learned that Unraid is not ideal for a full SSD build, as the current release requires an array. Without getting too technical, for TRIM support of the drives you should not put them in an array, ZFS is best. However, this can only be accomplished via a pool. The common work-around is to add a USB drive to assign as the array without parity. Hence, I can only use 5 SSDs as the USB counts as a drive. In the new beta version 7 of Unraid, they've changed this. However, I anticipate not being able to use beyond the beta without another $36 payment. Looking back at their update release history, it's incredibly slow. The licensing change of Unraid seems foolish, as the maintenance cost for Starter is 72% of the $49 perpetual license. 10-20% is the software industry standard. For me to use a 7th drive to max out the ZFS pool capacity of this device (6 SSDs in a pool and 1 USB drive as the array), I need to pay $69 to upgrade to Unleashed for unlimited drives, plus $36 per year. For a Lifetime license and unlimited drives, you'd need to pay $209 to upgrade the Starter license to Lifetime. I feel ripped off with the bait and switch licensing, particularly since I pay nothing for my Synology or TrueNas. It is probably not worth it to invest that much on the software side given the limited capacity and capabilities of this hardware. For a server running a bunch of spinning disks, sure!Storage - I added old NVME and SATA drives I had laying around. The beauty of the Unraid array is that you can add spinning disks to an array of varying sizes at any time to expand your storage capacity. However, with ZFS, it's not that simple. Raidz1 requires a minimum of 3 drives. I have 3 pairs of different size drives, so the best I can do is create multiple vdevs with each pair. This means you lose half the capacity, but gain IOPS. Ideally, all drives should be added when you create the pool and be the same size or you're just wasting capacity. I have not done testing to determine the IOPS performance with a single vs multiple vdevs, but a single drive can saturate the 2.5Gb connection, so there is probably no real performance advantage.Hardware - I have no issues with the build quality. It seems to be a thoughtful design - it's small, silent, and looks nice. The fan is barely audible. You can change the LED colors and settings by going to tower.local:50000. It's in Chinese, but you can use the translate feature on Chrome. All NVMes use a single PCIe lane. With 2.5G ethernet, it's not a big deal. Compared to the Asustor Flashstor 6 at $450, this gives you 4 NVMe and 2 SATA vs 6 NVMe. Comes with 16GB of RAM vs 4GB and an Unraid license, so seemed to be a good value. My switch doesn't support link aggregation and I don't have a ton of network traffic, so a second 2.5G port isn't going to benefit me. Yes, 10Gbe would have been nice.I installed a windows 10 VM and was able to get the wifi to work, but I don't really understand the point, as Unraid can't utilize. Would rather they omitted this and charged $10 less. There's also 128GB of flash storage on board, but it can't be accessed by Unraid either. However, you could install TrueNas here.Summary: If any of this sounds complicated, this device is probably not for you. It's not difficult, but not plug and play for a total beginner. I just wanted a silent NAS to replace an old Synology that currently holds 10TB. I have major buyer's remorse because I feel like one of the suckers who bought this at a much higher price, plus got the crappy Unraid Starter license. To keep using Unraid I will end up spending hundreds on the license and larger drives because I incorrectly assumed this came with the legacy license and the Unraid array configuration would properly work for SSDs. Would rather have paid less for no OS.

Review: previously I only had experience with HDD based NAS products. The product here is miles quicker.Throw in in a bunch of bulk nvme drives and watch how much more enjoyable using network storage is.I deal with large video files (and games of course), so having drives that can match my fast network speeds has already massively improved the latency I normally experience when trying to get large data onto my computer for a video projectAlso I work with big GIS files (many GB per file and dozens of them), fast storage has allowed network based editing. Rather than needing to pull the data every time, I can work directly.Wowza

Review: This is the first Nas I have that is an all ssd nas and I have hopes that the prices of ssd and Nvme drives will come down so I can buy a few more drives. It's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to Unraid as I feel like it doesn't always make sense but I still like it and have hopes of getting it the way I want. The setup I have right now is that my LincStation takes care of storing photos and videos as well as documents.I also run a couple of virtual machines on it for things like Plex and Home Assistant, which works really well.Would I recommend this machine? The answer is Yes!This is based on the flexibility and price, which is very competitive compared to the competition. The design also makes a very good impression, and it fits well under the TV.The pulsating LED strip can be a little annoying if you have it in a place where you see it all the time, but it can be turned off just go to this address tower.local:50000 and here you can control the LED list and change the color or turn it off. Then the fact that it is completely silent is absolutely fantastic. And the fact that it also comes with an Unraid license makes it even more recommendable.

Review: IntroductionMy primary needs for a NAS solution include running various virtual machines for home automation, a private cloud syncing service, and a media server. LincStation is a great NAS solution as it provides flexibility to customize the system freely without exhaustive configuration and maintenance.SetupThe package includes everything necessary for setup. For the 2.5" SSDs, screws and a screwdriver are provided. The quick-start guide explains the setup process quite simply: install the drives, connect the power and Ethernet cables, and turn the unit on.I opted for three WD Black SN770 NVMe 2TB SSDs. The installation was tool-free. The NVMe drives are secured under metal hatches on the bottom side of the unit, which also act as heatsinks, complete with pre-installed thermal pads. This setup keeps the drive temperatures around 40°C, which is optimal. After powering up, I accessed the Unraid's WebUI to configure my array and shares. The process was straightforward and required no troubleshooting, which I greatly appreciated.UsageThe hardware is well-constructed, quiet, and aesthetically pleasing enough to consider placing it in the living room, unlike my previous NAS, which was tucked away. It includes enough ports for all my needs. For instance, I use one of the USB ports for a Sonoff ZigBee Gateway ZigBee 3.0 USB Dongle, effectively turning the LincStation into a ZigBee gateway for most of my home automation devices. I also have a few home automation devices using Bluetooth. With those devices I am using the built in Bluetooth for communication. The operating system on the LincStation is Unraid OS and a lifetime "Unraid Basic" license is included.Unraid OS was relatively new to me, but it's easy to get the hang of. The official documentation is comprehensive, and there are countless community guides for every various use cases.I am very satisfied with Unraid OS. It allows for flexible system configuration and makes managing virtual machines straightforward. Here's how my current VM setup looks: Home automation: Home Assistant (Docker) Private cloud: Nextcloud (Docker) File sharing: File Browser (App) Media server: Plex (Docker) Network storage: Unraid's SMB/NFS shares with user management.Using the LincStation as a media server works flawlessly without any hiccups. For transcoding 4K Blu-ray movies on the fly the integrated GPU has enough power to do so.OverallI am very pleased with the LincStation N1. It is perfect for my needs, and I can highly recommend it to others looking for a sleek and power efficient homelab for relatively light virtual machine tasks. However, there are a few things to consider. The disk transfer speed does not fully utilize the capabilities of fast NVMe drives. I believe only one Gen3 PCIe lane is allocated for each drive, which limits theoretical transfer speeds to 985 MB/s per drive. Although overall performance could likely be improved by pooling, this is a limitation to keep in mind. Additionally, the Ethernet port is capped at 2.5 Gbe (312.5 MB/s).For me, these aren't deal-breakers, as I donât currently have a 2.5 Gbe port on my other devices. Nonetheless, a faster Ethernet port would be a welcome feature, particularly if I were to upgrade my other devices in the future.

Review: I packed this with 4tb SSDs as 8tb were beyond my means financially. I'm a novice when it comes to this stuff, but it was logically designed and intuitive to setup. I found Google Gemini very helpful explaining it all clearly for me. Now all the computers and devices can offload their data and improve their performance. My computer especially as it was also my media server. Every digital home network needs this type of device.Oh, and these Team Group SSDs are priced to sell too!

Review: This ought to be a great piece of kit, but I cannot get more than a dribble of a transfer rate to it (ca 11MBps). When contacting customer support (which is very very light) the best they could say was they havent tested it with a 10Gbps router (modern fibre optic modem) and it was probably a protocol issue. Thye said they want to test it, but dont know when they will. This is poor.
