A Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover comes a novel that explores life after tragedy and the enduring spirit of love.

When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her―until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.

Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow―another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

Title: Very good story
Review: This story was told completely by Leeds' POV. I found it fascinating to read a whole book from a guy's viewpoint when written by a woman. Leeds is drawn to Layla from the moment he saw her. I liked their connection and interactions. I also liked that the whole book wasn't just the two of them. I like how they wanted to learn more about the other and want to always be together.Colleen's writing style amazes me, how she brings the characters to life from the first page, draws me in, making me feel very invested in what happens to the characters. I am compelled to keep reading and yet I never want them to end. While this was very good, it was a little strange and might not be for everyone. I don't want to reveal any spoilers, so I don't want to go into anymore detail than this.

Title: Good read that keeps you guessing
Review: This Colleen Hoover book was good, hence the 3 stars. There’s others that are much better but if you like romance and paranormal all in one then this is your book. Not what I expected at all from the story but there were twists and turns that kept you guessing.

Title: Pleasant surprise!!
Review: This is my first ever calling Hoover book. I have never really gravitated towards her stuff because contemporary romances are not my thing. I know a lot of people consider her stuff “dark and disturbing“ because some of her books have themes of abuse in them. No offense, but that is not what I consider dark and disturbing. It’s just too mild in comparison to what I normally read. Basic romance books are so boring to me unless there is some exciting or mysterious plot surrounding it.The only reason I gravitated towards this book was because it was labeled as a romantic suspense and paranormal romance. That sounded a little more intriguing to me. So I figured I’d give it a go and I’m glad I did because I loved this book.I honestly wish that she would dabble more into the genre of paranormal romance or thrillers, because this was done very well. It was a very engaging book, and I think that she could appeal to a whole separate group of readers if she would lean more in this direction from time to time. There are only two other books from her that I would consider reading, which are Verity, and Too Late. And again, it’s because they are the only other books by her that I could find that were labeled as psychological thrillers or suspense.Anyway, I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked from the beginning to the end, and I read it while tandem listening to the audio, and the audio was done great as well.I highly recommend this book. Especially for people who consider most of Colleen Hoover’s stuff to be to fluffy, boring, and mild.Well done! 👍🏼

Title: UNEXPECTED!!
Review: Ok, so I’ve read some not so good reviews about this book and I’ve gotta say, I found it to be a very good book. It kept you thinking. I hated Leeds at some point and then that twist in the end was just such a relief because I then no longer hated him. Layla and him were connected on a deeper level that even death couldn’t keep them apart! What a great ending! Don’t wanna spoil it too much so I’ll leave it at that!Highly recommend, might not be everyone’s pick but I enjoyed it!

Review: soo I wasn't sure what exactly i was in for when i picked this book up. Mixed reviews peeked my interest of course so I thought February was perfect for a Colleen Hoover Romance. LOLFirstly the story opens to the beginning of a sweet love between Leeds and Layla. They meet at Layla's sister wedding at a B&B where Leeds is part of the band. They end up sleeping together and are pretty much inseparable. The story then takes a change in direction... Layla & Leeds are living together she is in an "accident" it changes her and the relationship with Leeds. They move into the B&B where Leeds takes care of her and is hoping that being back in this remote B&B ( now up for sale and no longer in business) will help Layla recover. Leeds experiences some very strange activity in the house and he ends up becoming infatuated with this spirit Willow who lives in the place.WOW!! Was not expecting this at all. I was hooked in the plot and the twist and turns are what kept me vested. I have to admit the POVs themselves are really under developed in this book and you barely get any back stories for neither one. Leeds is portrayed as this horrible selfish character while Layla is trying to recover making him so unpleasant to read about. However, I couldn't put this down! I had to find out what was happening and how this was going to end. Was Layla saved? What happens with their relationship? Will Leeds get convicted?Loved the ending! sooo worth the wait.I love how Colleen really went outside her comfort with this one. The paranormal theme, the romance and thrill; great combo! I think personally it really pushed me outside my comfort zone with some pretty interesting thoughts on life and death. Was it over the top/unbelievable? Well, its not for everyone. What we fear most in life, is the unknown

Review: The narrative unfolds as Leeds Gabriel, a directionless young musician, encounters the girl of his dreams, Layla, setting the stage for newfound happiness. However, their bliss is jeopardized by a series of inexplicable and potentially supernatural events.Leeds, previously squandering his musical talent with a small-town wedding troupe named Garrett's Band, discovers Layla dancing passionately at an event. Their instant and intense connection leads to a joyful courtship. Trouble ensues when Leeds shares a photo of them on social media, attracting the attention of a former girlfriend-turned-stalker who violently targets Layla. After months of recovery, Layla seems changed, losing the spark and connection that captivated Leeds. In a desperate attempt to salvage their relationship, he takes Layla back to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met.Upon their arrival, Leeds encounters Willow, another guest, and feels an unexpected attraction despite his commitment to Layla. As the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that Willow holds the key to either saving Leeds' relationship with Layla or becoming the catalyst for the demise of their epic romance. Narrated entirely from Leeds' perspective, the venture into paranormal romance seamlessly incorporates mystery, psychological thriller elements, and contemporary romance.Despite a confined cast of characters and minimal setting changes, the narrative maintains a fast-paced and engaging rhythm. While the conclusion leaves some loose ends, the chemistry between the characters and unexpected twists contribute to a satisfying reading experience. In summary, the novel offers a unique exploration of transcendent love, blending genres to deliver a captivating and mysterious tale.
