This friendly guide provides valuable insights and key statistics about colleges and universities in an easy-to-digest format. Title: Informative snapshots on a large number of institutions
Review: The book is pretty exhaustive in the number of higher education institutions it covers. It provides a good overview of cost, incoming admitted freshman statistics, and anecdotes about each institution on campus life, academic rigor, and general costs. Things are listed in alphabetical to make a college or university easy to find. I do wish the information presented for each school was consistent. Sometimes it'll give a range of admitted scores, other times its general scores, and sometimes no real scores at all. If you already own a previous version, it's probably not worth getting an updated set since you can look up the new information online.

Title: Geographically Biased
Review: It is possible that all the best schools are along the Atlantic Seaboard, but not likely. There are other indicators that this book is really for people who live on the eaat coast, like grouping regions into NE, SE, Midwest, West (a region so large it includes Oklahoma, Texas, Hawaii, and Alaska). In the lists of best colleges in my state of Oregon, only 1 out of 6 are even indexed in the book, but schools not on the list of best in the region are indexed. Travel to and from school and ability to come home for breaks is a huge consideration, adding thousands to the price tag of a school. Those of us on the west coast need to consider that. If this is a concern for you, don't choose this book.

Review: We are looking for colleges with sport scholarships. There is no data about that. But you can find colleges with best parties and after study activities.
