Title: A favorite brand of mine
Review: I recommend these for pros and beginners alike.I recommend them for beginners because I don't believe beginners need waste time with sub-par materials.Pros like them because they are well-made and the colors are vibrant. The leads are reasonably soft, yet can be sharpened to a fine point. The woods are six-sided so that the pencils do not roll. Please note that these particular Caran d'Ache pencils are not water soluble, so using them to create washes of color is not an option.

Title: Very transparent, high quality colored pencils
Review: While the Luminance line is still the best colored pencil line in terms of opacity and coverage, it's also expensive. The Pablo line fits my needs more, and not just because it's less expensive than Luminance while delivering quality as well. Pablo colored pencils are transparent, so when layering colors you'll still get most of the influence of the bottom-most layers.Colored pencils can indeed be blended to produce more variety, so an 18-pencil pack is more than enough if you're willing to learn color theory, especially with pencils that layer as well as Pablo. You're also rewarded with more interest color textures than if you'd use a single pencil of just the right color.I actually still do recommend this 18-pencil pack over the 12-pencil pack because the 18-pack contains a cyan-magenta-yellow triplet that can be used to create most other colors: Carmine, Cobalt Blue, and Lemon Yellow. This is actually better than the Luminance 20-pencil set as that set doesn't include a workable triplet of this nature (you have to add the Luminance purplish-red pencil separately, and Luminance is especially not cheap as single pencils).Additionally, you can create a secondary-primary palette with the CMY triplet above plus Grass Green, Orange, and Violet, and more easily obtain fascinating neutral colors (browns and grays). I've attached a couple small color mixing charts plus a few works done in Pablo. The transparent nature of Pablo pencils also means they can be easily combined on top of watercolors for finer details: the last picture shows simple feather detail done with Pablo's Ultramarine on a blue jay watercolor painting I made.I love Luminance, but Pablo works better for me; even if it isn't the Jaguar of colored pencils, it's still extremely good.

Title: Great value, highly recommended
Review: The value for the money is great. These are the best colored pencils I've ever used. They are so smooth and they layer easily. They don't need a heavy hand to lay down a good amount of color, unlike others I've used. They set really nice as well. Great pencils, I'll be buying more

Title: A pleasure to use.
Review: This is my first set of oil based color pencils. (My other set is wax based.) These were smooth and blended well. I worked on cold press watercolor paper, having grabbed what was handy, so the work seems 'rough'. I expect smoother paper will give a better result. The leads seem strong and the pencils sharpen easily. The set includes warm and cool reds, blues, yellows and greens, along with an orange, purple, violet, burnt sienna, umber, black, gray and white. I expect I'll add colors from open stock. The lightfast ratings are all 2s and 3s. No regrets.

Title: Rich color, quality pencil set
Review: Good quality thick soft deep color pencils. I bought this set for coloring when I’m on the go so I can pack this in my backpack with a coloring book. I’m very pleased with the rich color of the pencils and it’s a good size set for the price.

Title: My favorite!!!
Review: Hands down my ultimate favorite color pencil brand. Yes even better than my [gasp] Faber Castell Polychromos. I must admit it was a tough call but for me I just find that I tend to naturally go for this pencil more than the other brands I own (Prisma, Derwent, Faber Castell). I love that I could work on a project for hours and not have to sharpen the pencil. They are oil based and have great pigmentation and a better shine than my Faber Castell. This is also my go-to pencil for blending. They are just amazing! The casings are also not rounded so that they do not roll off your work surface as much. My only regret is not haven gotten the 120 set.

Review: Le matite sono meravigliose. Basta appoggiare la punta sul foglio e già scende il colore.. Come ha detto un altro acquirente : Non aspettatevi la cremosità dei Prismacolor.. No!

Review: I have no idea why 'sheerness' and 'thickness' are the only rateable qualities here. I give these pencils 5 stars on the basis of the following:Softness - I've seen Pablo pencils compared to Polychromos, but this is not correct IMO. I use Polys a lot and I love them, but the Pablo pencils are closer to Prismacolour Premier in terms of softness - but without the fragility. They sharpen well for me and the points are more robust than Prismas, although I do have a light hand. The Pablos go down so smooth and rich, they're beautiful to use.Opacity: 3 layers will pretty much cover the paper, effortlessly.Colours: They're beautiful. I could only stretch to the 18 set just now, but I will be asking for contributions towards the 120 set for Christmas.I also don't think they're overpriced, at least not compared to other pro quality pencils.
