A New York Times Bestseller

In this “unequivocally hilarious and delightful” (Kirkus Reviews) young adult romp for fans of Recommended for You and A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, a teen girl has the worst Valentine’s Day ever—only to relive it over and over again.

After living through a dumpster fire of a Valentine’s Day, Emilie Hornby escapes to her grandmother’s house for some comfort and a consolation pint of Ben & Jerry’s. She passes out on the couch, but when she wakes up, she’s back home in her own bed—and it’s Valentine’s Day all over again. And the next day? Another horrendous V-Day.

Emilie is stuck in some sort of time loop nightmare that she can’t wake up from as she re-watches her boyfriend, Josh, cheat on her day after day. In addition to Josh’s recurring infidelity, Emilie can’t get away from the enigmatic Nick, who she keeps running into—sometimes literally—in unfortunate ways.

How many times can one girl passively watch her life go up in flames? And when something good starts to come out of these terrible days, what happens when the universe stops doling out do-overs?

Title: Amazingly Swoony!
Review: I fall in love with the characters in every Lynn Painter book. This one was amazing! Twist early on that I didn't see coming (since I don't read the blurbs anymore) and it was so fun! Great twist to a typical YA novel.

Title: Cute book
Review: This was a cute story, but I generally do not pick books of high school or college kids anymore. I was a little concerned about the story line when I started to, but I like the way it kind of wrapped up and gave one really really great day instead of several redo days.Great character depiction’s and first love storyline

Title: Enjoyed!
Review: This rom-com was really cute, and a fast read. It's a simple love story about Emilie, who finds herself stuck in a time loop on Valentine's Day. She keeps encountering her boyfriend, Josh, cheating on her and crossing paths with Nick in different situations each time she relives the day.I love Lynn Painter's work and her amazing writing for creating fun rom-coms. I did think The Do-Over was lacking a little bit. I expected more. Nevertheless, this was a nice concept about time travel, young teenage love, and the choices you make that lead you to the most unexpected places.☆ 3.5 stars

Title: The Do-Over
Review: Reader’s Notes:– this is told from Emilie’s point of view– there are about 100 curse words– Emilie mentions that she was reading a book with a sex scene during class and is interrupted; her friend tells her to go watch a ‘filthy show’ in order to feel better (we don’t know the titles nor any other details beyond this; each is mentioned with only a sentence)Review:I removed a star due to the amount of cursing and the third thing(s) mentioned in the readers notes. I am not a fan of reading either of these things in books.Despite removing a star, the storyline was very interesting! Time really flew reading this book. I loved how the day kept repeating and it took Emilie a bit to figure out what was happening as well as what she wanted to do with it. I really enjoyed all of her interactions with her two best friends and Nick. I liked how both of her friends tried to support Emilie in her relationship with her boyfriend. Neither of them liked him, but wanted her to be happy more-so. I loved that they cheered her on when Emilie chose to switch gears and be more herself and when she recognized that she didn’t love her boyfriend. Nick was an awesome love interest! I loved that Lynn Painter gave us as readers little bits about Nick in the days when Emilie was focused on fixing her current relationship before Emilie switched gears on what she wanted to do with her reoccurring day. Nick was so fun with Emilie and their adventure. I absolutely adored their grand gesture towards the end of the book and was so happy to see these characters recognize that they were great together!Summary:Emilie has plans for the best Valentine’s Day ever. But when every single one of those plans breaks, as well as a few other things in her life, it ends up being one of the worst days of her life. All she wants to do at the end of the day is go to her safe place with her grandmother to be comforted, so she does. But the next day, instead of waking up at her grandmother’s, Emilie is back home and has a sense of deja vu when the same things that occurred the day before happen once again. And why does her phone say that it is still Valentine’s Day? Could her ‘yesterday’ have actually been a bad dream? When day after day, Emilie still finds herself in a loop of Valentine’s Days, she decides to take matters into her own hands. If she’s going to wake up each morning with no one remembering the day before, Emilie is determined to have a day of no consequences doing whatever she feels like. And after the dumpster fire that was her relationship, maybe she’ll invite the boy she’s met multiple times during this loop…

Title: Fun, quick read
Review: I had the pleasure of reading "The Do-Over" by Lynn Painter, and let me tell you, it was like a delightful mix of "Groundhog Day" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." The story follows Emilie Hornbie, who finds herself stuck in a time loop on the worst Valentine's Day ever. As a meticulous planner, she's ready for a do-over after several calamities, including a cheating boyfriend and a car accident. The book is a charming romance with a lot of depth, touching on topics like grief and family dynamics. Emilie's journey to break free from the time loop is heartwarming and humorous, with plenty of entertaining confessions and relatable moments. If you're looking for an enjoyable, easy read with substance, I highly recommend "The Do-Over" for a good laugh and a heartwarming story.

Title: A teen rom com but in book form …
Review: Loved it.Emilie is psyched about Valentine’s Day but everything that can go wrong does or does it?I have read many the repeat a day books and seen many the movies. Usually, you end up with clarity and living your life with no regrets.I’m glad Emilie finally lived life instead of all these expectations. I enjoyed how Nick was there and how well they meshed. Nick was definitely coded to be the hero. If I was watching this on the movie screen I’m sure I would have sighed.Nick and his gestures small and big toward Emilie had me rooting for them to get the HEA or at least HFN.This is a no heat book so it is suitable for “teenage readers”.

Review: I have not started and finished a book in 24 hours in YEARS! This book was exactly what I needed and reminded me why I love YA so much. There was a part in chapter 11 that made my heart go pitter patter and Circles by Pierce the Veil started playing in my head as they bolted out of chemistry. There was the perfect mix of everything I love.

Review: This book is about the 16 year old Emilie, who wants to have the perfect Valentines Day.And the charming yet gloomy looking Nick, who couldn't care less about this day.But when they meet each other, and in some ridiculous situations at that, both are not so sure if their perception about this day is the right one.I loved these two MCs. They are acting like their age (+ life experience), but they are still reasonable about their behaviour towards others. For example, Em sees her boyfriend kissing another girl, Macy. At sixteen, you think it's the worst feeling ever, because how dare he and what not. The consideration, if he doesn't kiss her in this time loop, then it didn't happen, is correct but futile. It shows that she is still just sixteen and learning about what she wants in life. Because you can think like that and if you happy with it, be my guest. But in my opinion, if you have to actively stop your boyfriend from kissing another girl, he doesn't deserve your time.So she deals with it but accordingly to a teenager. In the beginning I had some hesitation because of her age, because usually I like my FMCs a little bit older. More in the New Adult Genre but Emilie's age is not too pronounced and doesn't slip into childish.Nick is a charming young boy, who doesn't care about Valentines Day. He sees Em like she really is and doesn't entertain her antics about a 'perfect' day and leads her more to an 'happy' day.But read it for yourself and find out what I mean by that 😉This book has charme, quip and an adorable lovestory. So all in all 5 stars.

Review: A little nervous going into this one just because I’d read a Lynn Painter book before and really wasn’t a fan, but wanted to give another one a go and I’m so glad I did because I absolutely loved this one. It was such a light easy read. It had me laughing out loud many times. I loved reading the replayed days and see Emilie change little things. I adored Nick, it was adorable right from the start. I enjoyed seeing the growth with Emilie herself as well as with the people around her. I do wish it had a little bit more of Nick and Emilie together but other than that I absolutely loved it and I can’t wait to read some more of Lynns books 😍
