What do you do when your adult kids fly the nest and you are having a midlife crisis during a global pandemic? You buy a 22 room derelict villa in Italy while grocery shopping of course. Well, that is what Rosie did.

Buying the house was an accident. She only went out for bananas.

Rosie embarks on renovating her 22 room ‘new’ home in Italy with a non-negotiable move-in date of Christmas Eve.

Surrounded by a cast of interesting characters, the Irish woman learns the Italian way of life and house renovating in the country she wants to call home. But when the project manager goes AWOL, non-Italian speaking Rosie has no option but to take control with the help of a translation app.

With no heating, windows disappearing, mystery holes in the garden, water flooding down the stairs, a pandemic destroyed business and with a move-in date that seems more laughable than doable, Rosie begins to question if she was crazy to follow through on her fabulous midlife crisis dream of renovating a villa in Italy.

Title: a really great read
Review: Heartwarming and sometimes hilarious story of a family trying to remodel a large old Italian home during the covid pandemic in time for Christmas. A language barrier, a daughter stuck in London, a workforce of non English speaking workers all combine to make it happen.

Title: Entertaining, but Worrisome
Review: I enjoyed this story about the renovations of the 22 room home that the Rosie family purchased. It seems to me they got a lot of work done for their money. As usual with these projects (anywhere) things didn't go smoothly yet Rosie and her husband--and the people who selflessly helped them --somehow got through it with a sense of humor. However, I couldn't help but worry that they took on too much with too little money and they would end up in trouble as they did in earlier renovations. I think I worried more than they did. Especially when they couldn't be sure when they would start making money on their destination wedding business again.Despite my worries I enjoyed this second book in the series and look forward to reading the third one.

Title: Entertaining!
Review: Love her style of writing. She always seems to find humor in dealing with stressful situations where most of us would throw our arms up and quit.

Title: Charming and Hysterical
Review: A Rosie Life in Italy 2 is a hysterical story of an Irish woman and her family renovating a house in Italy. It takes place during Covid and demonstrates the frantic way the world was during the uncertainty of the pandemic while dealing with workmen in a country which she does not speak the language. Rosie writes in the manner in which she would speak allowing the reader to be there in the moment for every crazy thing. It’s a fun, lighthearted, feel good read!

Title: Great book
Review: This book is a delightful and entertaining read . Our family lived overseas way back in the 70’s and I related to this fun adventure of tackling a new language . Renovation of a house to make it a home in Italy was a big challenge , but it was successful. I looking forward to book number 3 out this summer.

Title: Umbria
Review: This book is a comical adventure of an Irish family moving to Italy. If it could go wrong it always does. They have perseverance to buy an abandoned villa that is beyond fixing. ( my opinion) Too many hurdles and setbacks. A fun read but a little hectic which makes me lose attention so I put it down often. Not edited very well. I’m finding that with most books lately. I am reading the series because I like a continuous story.

Title: The second book is just as much fun to read as the first!
Review: I love to read about people who choose to take on remodeling projects, especially in Italy. Rosie brings her experiences to life... including all the complications the pandemic brought to all of us. Inspirational and uplifting, I can't wait to continue reading with book #3. Thanks, Rosie!

Review: I started reading this little gem yesterday and finished it today, unable to put it down. It’s wonderful, chock full of warmth and humour and so very real. Rosie’s writing is truly evocative, making you feel as if you’re in the thick of the story yourself rather than being a bystander reading about it all. I laughed out loud countless times and was deeply moved by other moments in this family’s story. There’s always a slight trepidation for me when I’m reading a book 2, having loved it’s predecessor, the worry being that it won’t live up to the first and I’ll be disappointed… Nothing could be further from the truth in this case! A beautifully told tale that I just lapped up. Looking forward to the next instalment already! Five stars - highly recommend!

Review: I’ve been reading Rosie’s story for the past week and can’t wait for the next instalment. It’s been interesting to read how COVID affected and didn’t affect them. It all seems so unreal now that we’re two years down the track and accustomed to our new way of life here in Australia. It was terrifying watching what was happening in Italy and the rest of Europe when the pandemic broke out. I can only imagine how terrifying it was to live through it. Rosie kept her family safe, moving forward with enthusiasm and blind faith. Hats off to her!
