"[With] a set of characters so vivid we want to be their best friends and a story that keeps us turning the pages, The Best Life Book Club is your book club book of the year… A novel of pure delight!" —Patti Callahan Henry, New York Times bestselling author of The Secret Book of Flora Lea

It started as a book club. It became a way to build a better life together.

Karissa Newcomb is ready for a new start in a new neighborhood, as far away as she can get from Seattle, where her husband cheated on her with the neighbor who was supposed to be her best friend. She and her nine-year-old daughter are moving on to the city of Gig Harbor on the bay in Puget Sound. She even has a new job as an assistant at a small publishing company right in Gig Harbor. Her new boss seems like a bit of a curmudgeon, but a job is a job, she loves to read, and the idea of possibly meeting writers sounds fabulous.

Soon she finds she’s not the only one in need of a refresh. Her new neighbors, Alice and Margot, are dealing with their own crises. Alice is still grieving her late husband and hasn’t been able to get behind the wheel of a car since a close call after his death. Margot is floundering after getting divorced and laid off in quick succession. They could all use a distraction, and a book club seems like just the ticket. Together, the three women, along with Alice’s grumpy older sister, Josie, embark on a literary journey that just might be the kick start they need to begin building their best lives yet.

Title: A sweet story about female friendships
Review: It started as just a book club. But for four women in the small town of Gig Harbor, it became a way to build a better life together. Karissa is starting over with her 9-year-old daughter after her husband and her best friend broke her heart. Alice is still grieving her late husband. Margot is floundering after getting divorced and laid off in quick succession. And Josie is, well...she’s Alice’s grumpy older sister. Together these friends embark on a literary journey that just might be the kick-start they need to begin building their best lives yet. This is a story of second chances, starting over, but above all, female friendship. Perfect for readers who enjoy a positive-when-things-are-messy message, hopeful endings, and an overall sweet read.I loved the premise of this book, and I'm glad I read it. However, despite my high hopes, this one was just an “okay” for me. I found the writing a bit too positive at times, frequently bordering on overdone. Also, the story jumped from character to character, and it was a bit confusing in places. This may be a good choice for the reader who loves light, easy fiction with lots of fun literary references.Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing, NetGalley, and author Sheila Roberts for the complimentary advance copy! It was my pleasure to write this candid review.

Title: Friendships and more
Review: If you are looking for a beautiful read then definitely put this book on your list. This is a new author for me as it was suggested in a book club and I am not sorry I read it. We all need to read books that are uplifting, a happily ever after and a thought provoking book. What starts as a book club in the story ends up joining together an odd group of people who love books and although different have found one common thing among them. I love how each person's own story gets mingled with others and surprises all when these friendships are just what is needed to help them cope with their own crises.

Review: I absolutely loved this story! The characters were people I would love to be friends with and the way they encouraged each other was just beautiful to read. I want to look up their book club picks and read them myself hoping I can grow like the characters did.
