Title: Exceptionally well-designed!
Review: As a professional designer, I seek out products that have been thoughtfully and skillfully designed. This includes design-for-assembly, build quality, and the experience of using the product. On all these criteria, this compost tumbler wins 5 of 5 stars. The documentation was very easy to understand and follow. The frame is made of precisely-fitting powder-coated steel that seems as though it will last a lifetime. And the tumbler barrel itself is made of sections of dense plastic that are secured by steel rods that bolt together very solidly. Although it may be a bit more expensive than other products, I feel that it's definitely worth a few extra bucks. I truly couldn't be happier with this compost tumbler!

Title: Genuinely unexpected
Review: I wasn't crazy about buying a product labeled Black & Decker since they've kind of been a joke brand for the last 40 years. But I'm genuinely impressed with this composter. I've had other plastic yard accessories in the past and the fact that I don't have them now was a big warning sign. However I have to give them full credit for the sturdiness of the construction and the ease of assembly. The plastic sections are all really close to piston-fit with each other. The only material that will be moving in between chambers is going to be liquid. The barrel sections are held together with threaded rod that goes through the entire assembly, similar to how induction motors are held together, which is very secure.I've written documentation professionally and this set of instructions is a case study in what companies should be shooting for. At one point I wasn't matching up the A and B ends of the barrel sections but that was my fault for skimming, and the giant A and B stamped on the pieces prominently told me "hey dummy, you have the ends mismatched", so the assembly is actually also partially stamped into the actual product. My only real concern for longevity is the metal sections - they are coated, heavily, but I don't know what the coating is or how long it will withstand the elements (and compost goop).Turning the barrel is easy and the compost appears to mix well. Kitchen scraps tumble perfectly but a small pile of chickweed that I got compacted & tangled isn't un-tangling after one day, and I'm not holding that against it.I didn't want the gear reduction, because I saw it as an unnecessary complication, but it's already getting heavy and it's kind of nice that I can tell the 5-year-old he can turn the crank whenever he wants and that it'll actually move. The unit gets marked down one star for two issues:One, the barrel rotation lock is janky. It's not something that stays put when you want it to so if you want to lock the rotation you have to hold the lock down - which is fiddly. I will probably rig something better. The second and more important issue is the door size. I think it's too small. I just dumped my first mixing bowl full of kitchen scraps in it, and some of it didn't make it in. For something children are probably going to be doing, it should be a bit more fool proof. All in all I'm happy and looking forward to seeing how long it takes to make finished product.

Title: Great composter.
Review: This is a great composter. Does the job very easy. No more shoveling the compost pile and finding snakes, mice or rats. It isn't really big, but it works for my gardens.

Title: Black & Decker has the worst customer service ever!
Review: The assembly is easy. However, I am missing the shaft to complete the assembly. I call Black & Decker to get the missing part and they tell me another department handles the warranty. They transfer me to Orbit who has no clue what a Tumbling Composter is. However I need to order the part from a text service/AI that needs the part for the order process to happen. However the Tumbling Composter is not on the Orbit website nor an exploded view/parts list to get the part number needed. In the manual itâs only referenced as part H. So I speak to Black & Decker customer service 6 different times to explain I need the part number. They send me back to Orbit that many times and they wonât give me the part number because I ordered from Amazon. I go back to Amazon and get to customer service and it states I need to contact Black & Decker for parts. I am completely disappointed with their âcustomer service â. This is the biggest joke of customer service I have ever experienced. This is for a $2.00 part that was missing. They packed an extra set of rods versus the shaft (see the image). From time to time this happens, which is understandable. However to order a part from a company that is too big and too dysfunctional is painful. Amazon asked me if I wanted to return and I do not. My solution after researching online is buying the shaft myself from Dewalt. The part number Dewalt has for the shaft is not recognizable by Orbit or Black & Decker, but works well for Dewalt which I am sure owns Black & Decker and Orbit. This entire experience has caused me 5 days of back and forth and $13.55 for the part and shipping cost to complete the assembly of a product that had a missing part from the factory. Black & Decker you can do better! Terrible, terrible job at customer service.

Title: Rotting stuff
Review: This was pretty easy to assemble. My food waste seems to be rotting just fine now that I am using this.

Title: Sturdy, Laborious to Assemble
Review: We like this composter now that it is finished. It took more work than expected to assemble and a few steps were difficult or not stated clearly in the instructions. One of the brackets had holes incorrectly drilled. If you don't mind taking an hour to put something together and are 'handy' with tools and projects, this will probably not give you many problems. The finished composter seems very sturdy and a good height over our existing compost bins.

Title: Easy to put together.. but let's talk longevity, shall we?
Review: I am a pretty handy woman (I flip houses! and, man.. are they heavy!) so putting this together was a one woman job for me. I can see how it can be harder for others as it is an awkward shape. That being said.. I bought mine in Sept 2023 and it is now July 2024. Works fine but I did notice a month or 6 weeks ago that the handle will come off the track when I am turning it. At first I would just turn it by hand until it got back on track but the thing is getting heavier each time I add to it and now it' s cumbersome so I mix with a large stick.Other than that.. works as it should. Will probably consult B&D for some response... so keep this in mind for long term.

Review: J'ai mis 4 étoiles à Robustesse parce qu'avec la chaleur le plastique se déforme légèrement; ça fait moins beau mais ça fait la job.
