Title: I've told all my hacker friends to get a copy!
Review: Several years ago I changed career paths and went into cybersecurity from a different branch of IT. I still feel awkward calling myself a hacker, but if the shoe fits...Anyway, for those of us n00bs entering the field, or who have fewer than 2^5 years in the field, it is very easy to feel overwhelmed and intimidated by the long-time pros we admire and respect. This book helps address that intimidation on so many levels because it gives snapshots of people in the hacker/infosec/cybersecurity fields in their own words. The questions asked by the authors/editors are questions I hear all the time, and that I have asked more than a few times, myself. And the answers given range from snarky and short, to long, thoughtful, and detailed. The resulting amalgam is the best picture I have seen of the culture that is the hacker/infosec community.I already knew that hackers are my tribe. This book just confirmed and reinforced that knowledge, and deepened my respect and admiration of the community that calls me one of its own as well.

Title: Information Security advice straight from the infosec community
Review: Very interesting collection of different points of view from professionals in the Information Security field. The questions answered are the same for everyone but the answers give many insights on most aspects of this industry.I might be a bit biased but this is really a book for everyone - In and out of the InfoSec industry.

Title: Good Book with valuable lessons learned
Review: It's a good book with valuable lessons learned. Anyone in or getting into Cyber Sec should read it.Some of the questions are just for fun but you can skip those if you are just interested in getting some good insights.A few points might be repeated, great minds think alike.

Title: It's worth reading.
Review: Marcus and Jennifer have done a great job in pulling together a diverse group of hackers with different backgrounds and fields of study. You can quickly see what many agree on as well as different viewpoints based on their individual areas of expertise. Some made me laugh while others made me reflect. They all had something unique to add. The recommended reading list contained within the pages of this book is a rare treasure.

Title: Security Advice from the best
Review: This book follows a breadth-over-depth approach to crowdsourcing advice from the InfoSec community. It reads like an interview manuscript, the topic of which being the How's and Why's each person found their way into their specialty. It's dense with real world experience, intercut with some fun questions (ex "What's your favorite hacking movie?").This book would be especially valuable to someone looking to start a cybersecurity firm at some point... The author, Marcus J Carey, is the founder of a pen-testing firm himself, and this bizdev focus is reflected in his questioning.I would not recommend reading this book cover to cover, or in one sitting. The standardized format may be grating after so much repetition. Rather, this should be seen as a reference book; a source of advice that any hacker could find useful.

Title: Must read if you are considering transitioning to infosec
Review: I almost explained my story to try to explain why I love this book. Just know this. This book will prove to you that there are leaders in the information security industry that most likely have some of the background you do. You are going to want to highlight things from each interview and follow most of these people on twitter. You'll also want to subscribe to the podcast that just started in 2020. I recently started learning using an online resource to allow me hands on structured learning so I could develop needed infosec skills. This book encouraged me to know that you do not need to be a programmer to be in the industry. I read one or two people a day to help keep me inspired and gain their useful insight on the industry. I can't wait to get the other books in the series!

Title: This book changed
Review: I like this concept. It is sort of like a Pokemon index. Someone is missing from this book. I swear I saw him, and then he was gone.

Title: I might be biased but great book
Review: Sure it's weird to review a book you contributed to but I only ever saw my chapter until now. It's been fantastic to see how other people in the industry and the same questions. We all develop and grow through our own unique experiences and so you get a sense of that through how people answer in the book. A wealth of abvice and knowledge from a very diverse cross section of our industry. This isn't a book written by rock stars or thought leaders, it's by everyday practitioners in our field and filled with solid realistic advice that had been tested in the trenches of our jobs.

My advice: not only read this book but also analyse and collect different keywords, book titles and so on. Thumbs up for authors and everyone in the book who agreed to share their opinion!

Review: It gives you nice some information from real life. However, I donât think anyone will buy a book to read about this, it should be a series of newspaper or magazine articles. I think it is more like a marketing for the interviewed experts. Could be interesting for some newbies.
