Title: PCmover - A Great Tool
Review: Having decided to replace two old computers and finding the prospect of reinstalling multiple applications somewhat daunting, I decided to try PCmover. I found the instructions to be clear and simple and the software easy to install. The operation went very smoothly and everything transferred to my new desktop without a hitch.Not so, however, with my second computer, a very old laptop. PCmover installed easily enough but after the transfer to the new computer there were many applications and files I could not open. I used the undo command and tried again but PCmover would not restart. I called technical support. The technician was extremely courteous, patient, helpful and very efficient. After a few moments of exploration he took command of my machine remotely, identified the problem and effected the transfer.The product works very well and saves a great deal of time when installing a new computer. if problems arise, the technical staff are competent, helpful and extremely pleasant to work with. I give them top marks and would be happy to recommend PCmover to anyone upgrading to a new PC.

Title: Does not transfer encrypted document files
Review: I used this software to transfer nearly half a GB of files and apps from an 8 year old Windows 10 computer to a new Windows 11 computer. Using the Laplink ethernet cable the transfer time was less than 3 hours. For the most part, the transfer worked amazingly well, and I do recommend this software. I had a lot of apps installed on the older computer and it would have taken a huge amount of time to download and install each app individually on my new computer.I'd give this software a 5 star rating except for one thing. The old computer had over a thousand document files that it did not transfer to the new computer. What's worse, there were no error messages or warnings.Here's how I discovered this problem. As I began using the new computer I noticed that an Excel file I needed to revised was missing. I located the file in a folder on the old computer but it was not on the new computer. Comparing the number of files on each computer, I discovered that nearly 3% ( (around 1200 of about 35,000 files) of my document files were not installed on the new computer.I tried repeating the transfer, but it made no difference. The files simply didn't transfer. Laplink technical support (by chat) was unable to explain the reason some files didn't transfer. They kept asking me to try the transfer again, which didn't help. I wound up sending technical support a transfer log file, but that didn't lead to a solution. Working by chat and email was slow, so I tried the phone support number. My calls to the support phone line simply went to voice mail, so be aware that the phone support is weak. I finally got a support call scheduled for three days in the future.But in the mean time, I asked an IT professional to help me figure out the problem. He discovered that all the missing files had one thing in common. They were encrypted on the old computer. He unencrypted all the document files on the old computer and then we transferred them to the new computer using a USB drive. Problem solved!I'm very surprised that the Laplink software totally ignored the encrypted document files. There should have been some instructions or warnings to deal with this situation. I'm also surprised that Laplink technical support didn't realize that encrypted files could be the cause of the problem, focusing instead on anti-virus software as a potential cause.I hope that this review will help others who may encounter this problem. And I sincerely hope that Laplink support will read this review and add this information to their technical support training manual.

Title: Easy to use. Does what you need
Review: The biggest dread with getting a new computer is moving everything from the old to the new.This software made that process super simple. With just a few clicks here and there, it sets up everything on the new systemMy only caution is that I had some software that technically moved but did not work on the new system. I believe it was due to the upgrade from Win10 to Win11, and not actually the “fault” of this software. But it is worth noting.

Review: I've used the program before for files, and re-installed my own programs, but this time I decided since I was going to use the cable rather than wifi, I'd also get the level of program to transfer apps. Worked perfectly except for MS Office which you always have to release from the old device and then activate on the new one. Otherwise, all is exactly as it was on my old laptop. Took about 40 mins to transfer.

Review: I dreaded the thought of upgrading my PC.. With all my apps, files, profiles etc. I saw the upgrade to a new computer as a drawn out task that probably would have quite a few pitfalls. PCMover did it in about a day with minimal fuss. I did the transfer over night using Laplinks ethernet cable. It took about 11 hours for the transfer. At the end it was more than 95% complete. I had to install Norton Security on the new PC and due to a hitch with my MS Office license I had to acquire a new license for it. At the start I did have a problem getting the ethernet link to work but an on-line chat message and speedy response got me up and working with very little loss in time. I would use this product again.Thanks Laplink...
