Title: UPDATED! Arrived damaged, but fixed
Review: First reviewed on August 19th, 2019: I purchased this Honeywell HYF290B tower fan for a hallway in my home. I have window air conditioners in my exercise room and living room, and I wanted to disperse the air a little more evenly as the exercise room stays cold while the hallway is noticeably warmer. I had been using a small box fan to blow air into the room to circulate cold air into the hallway, but it is very old, and I knew there had to be a better option somewhere on Amazon. Tower fans caught my eye because they oscillate, or rotate back and forth. This means it can alternate blowing air into my exercise room and down the hall, which should be great for circulation. In practice, the fan is ineffective because it doesn't blow very hard, even on the highest setting. The name of the fan is Quietset, and in that regard, it excels. It has 8 speeds, sleep, whisper, and calm, all the way up to "Power Cool". All of the fan modes are very quiet, but that's because they aren't blowing much air at all. I can hold my hand two-and-a-half feet in front of the fan and not feel it blowing on the highest setting. I moved the fan to the center of the hallway, away from the wall, to make sure it wasn't starved for air on the intake in the back, and it still didn't blow very much air. I set it up to test it for a few days and realized the discrepancy between the exercise room temperature and the hallway temperature was greater with this tower fan than with my old mini-box fan.I purchased this tall fan expecting a tower of air, and it simply doesn't provide it.On the positive side, the fan seems to be well built. It has a relatively small profile, and it is very quiet. It includes a remote and 7 levels of power. The light is dimmable, so it may be useful in a bedroom just to keep the air from getting stale at night in a room with no ceiling fan. I can't recommend it for any other application, and I wish I had saved the box to send it back. 2/5 starsUPDATE: June 30, 2020, I moved to a new home in November of 2019 and brought this fan with me. When setting it up, I noticed that the housing wasnât secure, and one piece of the plastic was pushed in on the side (see updated photo). I didnât know if this had occurred during the move or prior to it. I pushed it back together so that the sides were air tight and used the fan again. This time, there was a solid stream of air coming out of the front of the fan, which now meets my performance expectations. I have it 15 feet away in the living room and can feel a strong breeze on the highest setting, but it is still quiet enough that it is not annoying or distracting.  The best part is that it comes with a remote control, so I was able to program it into my Logitech Harmony 650 and 660 remotes (purchased on Amazon) so I can control it across the room. I am able to see the lights on top to know what speed setting it is on. The oscillation works well. Overall, I am supremely satisfied with the fan now and highly recommend it. 5/5 stars

Title: not silent, but quiet for a fan.
Review: I am in menopause and need cool air to sleep often. Nightly in the summer. My old pedestal fan was getting to noisy. It was requiring me to use earplugs to get to sleep. On the sleep setting- this fan moves enough air for me. I don't wake up hot around 2am and although I can hear the motor working- I can go to sleep with it and it never bothers me once I am asleep. I did start hearing a squeak or a knock after a couple weeks but my husband disassembled it and reassembled it and it is fine now 🙂

Title: Works great!
Review: Weâve had this fan for about a week and so far so good. Love all the settings especially the setting to turn off the light. The fan blows great. Was easy to put the legs on. Very light weight. Keeps our room nice and cool and comfortable. Itâs not super quiet, so if youâre looking for silence this fan isnât for you. But if you need white noise itâs perfect. All in all the quality of this fan is great.

Title: The CrankyConsumer says. . .
Review: I purchased this fan in spring and have used it extensively over the summer. I am very pleased with the fan overall. It is quiet (with one caveat), has more features than I thought Iâd use, and was relatively inexpensive. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the fan vibrates on some of the settings and as it operates this causes some noises that appear to be coming from the trim. If I apply pressure to the outside housing of the fan the sound goes away. Not a deal-killer, but it is a flaw. The fan is advertised as quiet (which it certainly is), but the noise from the trim detracts from the overall quietness.I do really like the remote, timer, the display on the top of the fan, and the variety of settings. It is very stable and moves a good amount of air. It has an appealing appearance, although I am trying to think of what I can use the space under the fan body and above the base for.

Review: This was my 1st purchase of the newer style fan (older style being the caged, rotating 3-plastic-blades with base controls). I wasn't disappointed, & subsequently bought a 2nd one. The fan does its job very well & because of the height, provides a wider area of coverage than the older style. It also lives up very well to its claim for being quiet. The Sleep mode is extremely quiet, but at a price -- the airflow is so minimal that it doesn't help much unless it's almost right in your face. The remote is a nice addition & works well. My only real beef is with the base. It's awkward & clunky & there's just a TINY space at the very bottom to run the cord through. Whenever I move the unit, the base just doesn't feel stable (it's never come off though), & the cord seems to hate being confined to that tiny hole. That aside, though, generally I'm very happy with this fan & have no regrets for "changing over" to this style. Very good product which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Review: Looks very stylish in a room, cools well and is super quiet compared to a normal fan. Can easily watch tv at normal volume and it doesn't distract from the tv.
