Talk about the luck of the Irish! One of the most beloved of Irish institutions (there are more than one thousand in Dublin alone), the traditional pub has served generations as the venue for local gossip, sporting news, a ceilidh or two, literary soirees, real estate deals, political debates, revolutionary plots, and, lest we forget, for knocking back a pint of Guinness or a "ball of malt." The food's not bad eitheras The Irish Pub Cookbook so deliciously demonstrates. It's a celebration of over 70 pub classics: thick soups and stews; savory tarts and meaty pies; big bowls of salad (times change!); and desserts of the seconds-are-always-appropriate variety. There's shepherd's pie, fish and chips, seafood chowder, and whiskey bread pudding for those with a taste for the quintessential. Contemporary specialties such as Bacon, Blue Cheese, and Courgette Soup; Salmon Cakes with Dill and Wine Sauce; Braised Lambshanks with Red Currants; and White Chocolate Terrine spotlight modern Irish cooking's richly deserved acclaim. Complete with pub photos, history, and lore, nobody leaves hungry when The Irish Pub Cookbook is in the kitchen.

Title: Recipes plus history
Review: I love how it not only gives recipes but the history and information about the places that serve the food the recipes they serve. The pictures and photos are really nice. It is a great book for anyone who is interested in both Irish pub recipes and Irish pubs.

Title: Aye, it's grand!
Review: My hubby & I visited Ireland last year. We traveled about 75% around the coastal regions of the island enjoying great beauty, food and people all along the way. When we returned home I wanted to recapture some of those great memories with food. This book fit the bill. Every recipe I've tried so far has tasted very authentic to what we experienced during our visit. We especially enjoyed the Seafood Chowders and Brown Breads readily available just about everywhere we visited. Recipes for both are included in this book and taste just like the "real thing".You don't have to be a wiz in the kitchen to prepare these delicious recipes and substitution recommendations are included for those that can't get their hands on authentic ingredients.I highly recommend you add this book to your recipe collection! Give it a whirl before St. Patty's Day.

Title: Great recipes and an easy to search format.
Review: I will cook for myself rather than starve. So this purchase was a matter of survival. What a nice surprise! Irish pub fare is simple good food (comfort food for many) and the accompanying text is great fun to read and get more background on the culture that produced these recipes. And, Yes I have tested several as a means of survival.

We have it just in time to enjoy our favorite Irish comfort foods for the March 17th holiday events. Very well authentic recipes from famous Irish Pubs. A little story and history to go along with each menu. Beautifully illustrated and easy to follow recipes, even for our at home cooks. Enjoy!

Title: Great and easy recipes
Review: Great and easy recipes. Wish it had a photo of each recipe so I knew what they were supposed to look like. Think something is off for the one stew recipe. Came out wrong each time I've tried it. Highly recommend the fish & chips and lamp chops recipes.

Review: The book is very well laid out and easy to follow ~ excellent receipts through-out, those tried are very tasty and Paddy Burkes Pepper Soup comes to mind being especially delicious served with a large slice of Soda Bread. Some of the ingredients listed as in 'Half and Half' are not readily known, a quick check on the internet solved this problem.

Review: Sorry but I find it difficult to accept that this is Irish cooking. Some of the recipes call for 'canned low sodium chicken or beef broth ' to be added. I'm Irish and I've never heard of this.
