Title: Abbondanza! Delightful and insightful
Review: This book was a labor of love for the author to write, and a labor of love for a home-cook like me to cook through. While it is practically encyclopedic as a pasta reference book, I particularly love the way she gives you different pasta recipes for different meals and usages. For example, you have your basic pasta dough recipe for something like fettuccine, but then different proportions if you want to make Chinese egg noodles, and yet different proportions again if you want to make lasagna noodles. Once you've mastered the basics of pasta making, it is these subtleties and refinements which bring your cooking to the next level. While this book is filled with lots of mouth-watering recipes it also has a chapter on preparation of basics (like béchamel sauce). There's also a section on the global history of pasta, as well as kitchen tools & machines, from required, to desired, to optional. When I bought this book it was about 70% higher in price than it is now. At the current price you should snatch this 800-page hardcover up and get cooking.

Title: This book is worth the price and more
Review: I was amazed of how Intriguing this book is. I wished that it had pictures of the tools it says you will need. But other than that I am completely satisfied with this book. I cant wait to read all the interesting stuff it has in it and try out a few recipes. I rate this book a 10+ just with the little I did read.

Title: Huge with some great pasta reference charts
Review: This book arrived and it was huge. The beginning of it has a fascinating set of pages listing all sorts of pastas from all over the world. There is a lot of information and a lot of recipes. I've stopped buying recipe books since so much is on the internet these days, but this has a lot of information gathered together that I probably wouldn't have found on the internet. I've already marked several recipes that I want to try.

Title: Complete but maddeningly organized
Review: First, this book really covers the gamut. It's less centered on Italian pasta traditions (though they're well-represented). It includes many representative recipes from Asia, and it doesn't limit itself to how Italians use all those pasta shapes either. But I can't give the book five stars because of how it's organized. After the typical introductory chapters (history, ingredients, equipment, cooking methods), it has an extensive section on Pasta Shapes. Unfortunately for the reader/cook, this chapter is not organized alphabetically by shape name; it's organized by *type* of shape first, alphabetically within each type second. This is important because the recipes are written for a pasta shape and then often list other recommended pasta shapes. None of these have a page number referenced, however, not even the primary suggested shape. This forces the reader to first consult the index to find the page reference for what the shape *looks like* -- and you better keep your finger in that index because the book has instructions on how to make the more complicated shapes but it doesn't reference the page number for them. Finally, don't expect a lot of traditional recipes here. There are some. The author likes to create other recipes, and many of them are those are a bit different, such as a Chipotle and Chorizo Sauce, or recipes which use zucchini or tofu "noodles". All in all, an interesting book, but not the primary pasta cookbook that you might think it is.

Title: Amazing!
Review: This book arrived yesterday and I haven't been able to put it down! The author covers every variety of pasta, from cultures throughout the world. Where else would you find recipes for pierogies, dim sum, gnocchi, and momo? The instructions are comprehensive and there are plenty of illustrations to help. I plan to keep it out on the counter and try something new every week until I've gone through the entire book.

Title: Fabulous Cookbook
Review: I bought this book and pasta machine and pasta drying rack for my grandnephew's birthday. This 14 yr old is showing an interest in cooking - an interest I want to support. The cookbook turned out to be much more than I expected. It has great photos and clear instructions for any pasta you can imagine. It includes ravioli, pot stickers, and spaetzle along with the more common types. The sauce/toppings recipes are also mouthwatering. My grandnephew was delighted with his gift.

Review: I can't say just how much I love this book. As a blossoming pasta nerd I found it very insightful and interesting to read (aka NOT filled with boring stuff). The book is stacked - so many recipes I want to try. And I love the fact that it's not just pasta, there's all kinds of asian noodles in particular, as well as dumplings and pierogis. This is an absolutely gorgeous book and you will not be sorry you bought it - worth every penny. This, coupled with Mark Vietri's Mastering Pasta, is my go to pasta bible.
